Resolution: Re: [FT-857] menu 59 missing RMT Option
To any still interested. The resolution to the missing RMT menu item in menu 59 was to do yet another total reset. 73 NW1B Troy Dennen Sent: Tuesday, August 9, 2022, 10:31 To: [email protected]

Re: CAT cable recommendations
Thanks. I was considering the RT software (I have it for various other radios) so that seems to be the answer. Paul Braun WD9GCO Anchor, Amateur Radio Newsline Certified Music Junkie

Re: CAT cable recommendations
I can confirm that the RT systems Yaesu-specific cable will work, and is likely the best option. A warning: generic cables, and cables for other radios, such as Kenwoods, with the mini-DIN connector

CAT cable recommendations
I¡¯d like to use my non-D 857 with HRD in the field. I¡¯ve found several cables online, but it¡¯s hard to judge actual quality from a web listing. I turn to the hive mind here ¡ª what¡¯s the most

Re: Keeping the 857D Screen For Long Life
Not to belabor the subject, but mine is mounted on an air-conditioner louver via a ProClip. It stays as cool as I do. Whether this has prevented display issues, I don't know. 73, Kent K9ZTV

Re: Keeping the 857D Screen For Long Life
I live in Central Florida. I had my head unit mounted low on the front console on my Honda Element. It was always out of direct sunlight. I even had a soft cloth covering it when I wasn¡¯t using it.

Re: Keeping the 857D Screen For Long Life
You can try putting you AC as cold as it will go and see if the screen gets better. Or put it in the fridge and see what happens. I had mine fixed a few years ago and have had in a backpack since to

Re: Keeping the 857D Screen For Long Life
From the sound of things, that could be as simple as a solder joint refusing to pass electrons until heat expands it. I've brought radios back to life, cured hums, and surprised myself on several

Re: Keeping the 857D Screen For Long Life
Interesting problem that is not limited to 857D. My 857D was purchased new in about 2005 and kept in my truck in South Florida. The zebra phenomena did occur the first time a couple of years later and

I just powered mine up to do an informal test.On first power, 17 of the pixel columns were blanked out. Over a period of about two hours, ten of them self "repaired" or "healed".This was with rig

Re: Keeping the 857D Screen For Long Life
This issue has been discussed over and over for the past few years. IMHO it seems that you are more likely to have the Zebra stripe issue if your radio was mounted in your car under hot sun

I do notice on my head unit, (where it once was installed in a truck for about three or four years), I do have some zebra stripes, but after the rig has been on for about an hour or so, some or most
