Re: Switching on/off my FT-857D
When all else fails, try a hard reset! Remember though to have your settings in your program on your computer. 73 and good luck! Jim, N8JE Sent from Mail for Windows Sent: Wednesday, July 27, 2022

Re: Switching on/off my FT-857D
First, check the power supply voltage. And check when 857 is powered off and on. There should be virtually no difference in power supply voltage. Regards, Tony F. VA7TF VE7ACF Sent: July 27, 2022 9:11

Switching on/off my FT-857D
Hi folks, For the very first time, my old FT-857D is messing around. When I push the Power ON/OFF to switch off the radio, the front panel stop displaying the informations from the VFO but don't

I loved the antenna overall. It was an absolute flame thrower on 20 meters with 3 17' radials. *Jon Kreski* AB9NN - FCC Ham Radio Call Sign (920) 931 - 5511 - Cell (231)3 83 - 4425 - Home My photos on

Re: Challenger DX antenna and FT857 #signal
Thank you Jon Will thik it off. Actually I was looking for a good vertical 80-10 without radials for my low land area of QTH. I just happened to see this Challenger ant which is 80 - 2 Mts. So thought

Re: Challenger DX antenna and FT857 #signal
I tried it years ago but had disappointing results. I thought since it was such a large antenna it would be great. But my omni-directional high gain antenna far outperformed it. Results may vary. Give

Challenger DX antenna and FT857 #signal
Hi all I like to get a report on the perfomence of Challenger DX vertical on 2 Mts. As it is a single antenna for 80 through 2 Mts. thought of trying because of QTH terrain. The QTH is sorrounded by

Re: FT857d with external SWR/POWER Meter
I stand corrected. I should take my own advice and check settings. Mine was turned down. Thanks for the correction. Randy (KE5EOT) ARRL, QCWA, ARES, RACES, ROWH http://ke5eot.webs.com

Re: FT857d with external SWR/POWER Meter
Randy, Where are you read the FT-857d is only rated 25w on CW ?? Page 2 from manual is 100w SSB/ CW/ FM from 160 to 6m Thierry, F4GVO

Re: FT857d with external SWR/POWER Meter
I still want to know how they're getting 100 watts out just by keying the mic. Sideband doesn't show any output until you modulate the signal, and the radio is only rated for 25 watts on AM and CW.

Re: CQWW VHF
I don't think it got too hot. It was hot that day, but the radio was in my car and in the shade. I don't know what its temperature was. Zack W9SZ

Re: CQWW VHF
Did the radio get too hot? High temperatures inside the radio can cause solder joints to tear over time. Some common components can be damaged by thermal cycling.

Re: FT857d with external SWR/POWER Meter
Borrow a Bird Throughline and check the power again. Cheap meters are known for calibration problems.

Re: CQWW VHF
Do you cook it? That will cause harm to the radio.
