CW mode outputs lower power
A friend has problem with his FT857. When he transmits in CW mode, it outputs just about 40 W. In other modes it can go to full 100 W. He tried reset and it did not help. Any hints? -- 73, YT9TP,

Re: Homebrew Control Panel
Greetings Tom, Quick question, what equipment did you use to sniff the data lines? I saw a reference to 64 kb/s which isn't standard. If I did the math right, I ended up with 5818 baud (11

Getting ready to back up the '857, do you have instructions you trust to back up the rig settings? Memory settings are of little importance to me, but those critical rig settings are and I've never

Re: Homebrew Control Panel
Hi Tracy, that sounds like an interesting project! A Arduino front panel would be great. Feel free to update the protocol documentation if you find something missing or incorrect:

I noticed in the service menu there is a setting for country (regions). Does someone know what valid regions are and what the impact on frequencies and other parameters are. The reason for asking. I

Re: Data modes.
From: "John P Liddell jplidd@... [FT-857]" Some years ago I wrote a technical note which described, step-by-step, how to make the 857/897 operate on Winlink. It should still be in the "Files"

I agree with separation if necessary. I don¡¯t mind my fan because it is doing its job. I have a Kenwood TM-281A 2 meter radio that I use mobile. It has no fan and after 20 minutes of rag chewing it
