Yes, it is a nosy and powerful fan.? Considering the size (small) of the the sink, you need to be able to blow as much air across that heat sink as possible.? The best thing to do is get the separation unit and separate the head from the body and mount the body away form the operation position.

Is it me or does the 857 fan make too much noise on transmit? It's annoying tbh and so far it's the only issue I've had with my radio, everythingh else is fine, it's a great radio imho. I only use 20W or so usually but the fan comes on after a few seconds and stays on for a bit when receiving whatever the output power setting, I'm using it as a homebase not mobile and have to turn up the volume to overcome the noise. Other half ain't too happy either, lol.

Anyone else have the same probs, is it my radio? Is there a fix (replacement) available? Be nice to sort it if possible. Ideas and solutions welcome :)
