Crane lifting F25C 5
I'm assuming someone has done this at some point... I'm interested in lifting the boat off the trailer with an overhead crane. I need to do it with the boat still folded. Where on the boat do people usually lift from? I've been trying to figure out what to do and not add unnecessary hardware to the boat. Thoughts? Pics? Ian

F-25G? 5
Hello, and thank you for admitting me, a former Dragon Fly 25 owner. I am looking for information on what I can only surmise is an MPG fiberglass F25G. It's a days drive away so I'm hoping to figure out if it's worth a look see. The current owner lost the title but said it had been registered as a home made. He doesn't know F-boats but seems knowledgeable of boat construction, epoxy and glass. He says the boat is not cored but solid glass and built in a mold!!??. Maybe a 25A not built to plan or popped off someone's kit boat? Anyhow I'd appreciate hearing anything from anyone that may have a clue as to what it is. It is in the Florida panhandle which sounds like where the F25C was born. That you all for your time. I already asked the F-boat Facebook group without much luck. My Gemini is BORING and find myself jonesing for another tri.

F25C bobstay attachment 3
Anyone have any insight as to how the stainless tang is fastened into the boat for the bobstay? It's burried in an internal reinforcement but there are no fasteners visible. I'm going to retrofit with a tube through the bow for soft attachment but trying to figure out how to get the stainless out, and where to position the tube. Any help appreciated thanks!

20 or 25” shaft length 8
Hey All, I think I’m going to replace my slowly failing tohatsu 6 sail pro that has a 25” shaft. Before I do so I wanted to see if anyone else was using a 20” shaft successfully? It seems the 25 is pretty deep, especially as it sucks the stern down hard when motoring. I’ve never ended up motoring in really significant waves and maybe that matters? Either way, I’d prefer a 20 if I can get away with it so if you’re using one and it’s fine, please let me know! Thx! Nige

Daggerboard case, leaking cheekblock assy 6
Hello: Has anyone had any dealings with the plate that holds the cheekblock on the port side of the daggerboard? Ian mentioned this as a high leak potential location and mine is duly leaking. It does not leak at anchor, only when I get a few people on board and we start sailing which says something about the relative water level. I took a photo and then looked in the original plans for builders that came with the boat (which seem to be directed more towards the F-25A than the F-25c). The plans indicate the plate is screwed to the daggerboard case around its perimeter and the centre nut heads are for bolts that hold the cheekblock to the aluminum plate. The boat is in the water at present and I would rather not put it on the trailer yet. I am assuming that on a calm day I can remove the screws, take off the plate, clean up the contact surfaces and then re-seal with Sikaflex. Does anyone have any comments or suggestions. I will also post this on the main Farrier site. Thanks Nick Sargent Mindbender

F25C Sold 4
Hi all, I wanted to let everyone know my boat has sold (I listed it for sale on the Fboat list). This has been a terrible outcome of the emergency shutdown as our rental properties lost income and jeopardized mortgages (i.e. students broke leases and moved out and summer AirBnB business in Saratoga crashed with closing of Racetrack/SPAC/etc.). For everyone's reference, the boat sold for $63,000 but it was broken up as $40,000 for the boat and $23,000 for the trailer and sailing equipment for sales tax purposes. I write this as it will likely be listed in Nada/Blue Book as sold for $40,000 so please don't let any prospective buyer cite this should you sell your boat. I'm terribly sorry if this negatively affects anyone's future sale but I didn't have a choice with our mortgages in jeopardy and I know the $63,000 was well under its market value. Just as a FYI - I received 3 very serious inquiries from overseas but the buyers could not get here to inspect/pickup/ship the boat. I also had a very serious inquiry from Maine 2 days ago but I had a cash offer in hand so I took the offer. Thank you everyone for everything... I'm not sure if I will proceed to my 3rd F25C :) James

Screecher clew
Currently stropped to rear beam. Too far aft I think. I saw a video somewhere where the tack was on short strop(s) on the main hull outer flange a foot or more in front of the aft beam. Is a reinforcing bar or such required under that flange to spread/handle the load? Pics appreciated. Thank you, Charlie

Hatch Frames/Molds
Hey All, Sorry for the duplicate post, I realized my thread a month or so ago was to the old yahoo group. I haven’t been able to get hold of Chris so trying one more time in case he sees it here. Chris - do you still have the float hatch frames that you were selling a year or two ago? Thanks! Nige

Hi
Hello all, I'm the very proud and still excited owner of F85SR First Tri The boat has been very well built locally here in Perth and I was lucky enough to be able to sail if for the last two years and now own it. The boat is rigged with an aluminium mast and to the NZ 8.5m rule. I don't propose to change this in the near future because Perth gets 15-20 knots of wind for most of the sailing season. The wind gets light in Autumn/Winter, but there's no sailing then (Especially with Covid 19) We bought it to both race and cruise. For the next 5-6 years the main emphasis will be on racing, which is what I have done my whole life (In high performance dinghies) But the First Mate (Who always raises a smile when she says she prefers to be called the cabin boy) is more interested in short cruising adventures. I have a list of things I'd like to do to it that is as long as my arm, but would like to get some advice from the group. So I'll be firstly tweaking the boat to make it race better. Hopefully by adding lightness, and better systems. But simultaneously adding cruising fittings whcih can be added and removed as needed. I want to set up to race with 3 up, the third person ideally being a young strong agreeable young person I have a huge list of questions that I'd like people's opinion on and will start with Spinackers/Screechers. My opinion is that there is nothing simpler than a deep cut screecher which is cut to fly from the spinnacker halyard and runs most of the way back to the rear beam. So in light weather the kite is launched out of a bag, but from 10 knots upwards, the big screecher will be the go to sail. My logic is that the kite will always be quicker downwind, except when the raise or drop is messed up. In which case it is MUCH slower. The screecher will be at least as quick if the wind is strong or tight. Another question. Are there any other F85SRs or similar in Oz who might be going to Airley/Hammo in 2021? -- Ray Martin F85SR "First Tri"

F-82R tramp attachments 7
I recently looked at an F-82R that used 1"x1/4" flat stock as the attachment rail for the trampoline lacing. The flat stock was through bolted into the hull and amas. It appeared to work without any indication of stress issues on the hull or amas. My question is, when did Ian switch to the new style of attachment rail that is molded onto the hull and amas? And how difficult will it be to get the construction details of the new style attachment? TIA, Bill

Maxi Screacher 2
Larger, fuller screacher - furler at end of spin pole - sheets to spin locations on akas - rates as a smaller spinnaker (400 sq ft). I had one for my Sprint - loved it - Skip Elliott says he built one for David Colin's F-25C. Any feedback on the sail or on the furling gear? Thanks, Charlie Mayer
