DANIEL Family Photograph
I have an old postcard photograph of Fred T. & Bertha B. DANIEL at their home in Seaside - 759 10th Avenue E, taken on 4 Jul 1920. Fred and Bertha appear to be about 40's to 60's at the time the photograph was taken. The name Esther STRUNK also appears on the back of the card as if this is the person to whom the photograph was given. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this couple: ? Fred T. DANIEL was b. Apr 1864 in Illinois to parents Samual DANIEL (1823-1903) and Elmina or Elmira C. STREETER (1825-1910) who were married in 1842.? Fred had two siblings, brothers Watson Elliott DANIEL (1854-1940) and Eddy Osborne DANIEL (1857-1947). ? Bertha B. RYAN was b. 1886 or 1887 in Ireland the daughter of Rachel RYAN.? Bertha died 7 Oct 1933 in Portland, OR and is buried in the River View Cemetery in Portland.? When she died her obituary listed her survivors including her mother and six siblings including two brothers and four sisters. ? I’d like to return the photograph to family and would appreciate you contacting me if you are a member of this family or know someone who might be. ? Thanks, Shelley |

开云体育Already did, no luck there so far.? Did post the photo to memories as well so others will have it as well now. ? From:

There are also many well documented descendants so you might, if you have not already done so, try contacting some of the contributors to these profiles: ? ? Kevin |

DANIELS Family Photograph
I have an old studio photograph of Emery Rice DANIELS which was taken at the Swartz studio in Stuart, IA. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with Emery likely in his 60's at the time. He is also identified as "LaVelle's Great Grandfather". Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Emery and his family: ? Emery Rice DANIELS was b. 13 Oct 1822 in Windsor, MA to parents Eliphalet DANIELS (1797-1861) and Amanda RICE (1800-1839) who were married 15 Sept 1821 in Conway, MA.? Emery was one of 7 children born to this couple including Emery Rice; William Cullen; Amanda R.; Amond; Charles Franklin; and Eliphalet DANIELS Jr., all born between 1822 and 1832.? Emery’s father was married previously and had one additional son, Aviery DANIELS (b. 1819). ? Emery married twice, first to Ellen WEAR (1825-1852) on 15 Jun 1848 in Peoria, IL and they had two children including Amanda Ellen DANIELS SHERMAN (1849-1939) and Laura C. DANIELS MURRAY (1852-1938).? His second marriage was to Phebe or Pheobe S. STILLMAN (1829-1913) on 3 Mar 1853 in Peoria, IL and they had 8 children including Charles Franklin; Orlando Sherman; Sylvester Joseph; Baby Boy; Adoniram Judson; Leroy Emery; Dexter; and Lovica “Lollie” DANIELS, all born between 1854 and 1868.? ? Emery died 14 Apr 1902 in Azusa, CA and is buried in the Oakdale Memorial Park Cemetery in Glendora, CA. ? I would like to get the photograph to a family member and appreciate you contacting me if you are a member of this family or you know someone who might be. ? Thanks, Shelley |
Re: Martin Daniel Sr (ca. 1750-1811) of Mecklenburg Co., VA
Chesley-4144, Josiah4151 and John-4152 are brothers. John was the youngest and spent some time in Granville Co, North Carolina, with Chesley and Josiah before he was able to own property. John later had a farm in Charlotte County, Va. After his death, his wife joined the other Daniel family members in Granvile, Co.? You may have info on this, but if not, google tranquility plantation, Granville Co., and P A Miller's research will be available.? Nice to make this connection. jlc

Re: Daniel Y DNA Project at Family Tree DNA
Here is a link to the Ancestry Message Boards. You can search on surname groups and find the Daniel, Daniels, etc., boards. This used to be easy to find on the Ancestry main page but I haven't been able to find it there, recently. It is free, for now, no membership is needed to view or post to it.
?
?
There used to be an extensive Daniel surname discussion group at Rootsweb.com, but Ancestry reneged on its promise to maintain it and it is gone. There were still some vestiges of the Genforum discussion groups online, which could be found using various search engines but I have not looked for those recently.

HI Georgia Is your Josiah a brother of Chesley/Chisley Daniel of Tranquility plantation of Granville County? Josiah and Chesley/Chisley are brothers of John Daniel, my line. P A Miller provided a lot of information on this line which I have included in my research. Jack? |
Re: Daniel Y DNA Project at Family Tree DNA
Hi Tia,
Your James Simpson Daniel has profiles on FamilySearch and WikiTree:
?
?
?
I manage his profile on WikiTree, not because I am related to him,?
as far as I am aware, but because his profile was orphaned, had no
manager. You can try contacting contributors to those profiles to see if any of them have done DNA testing. There are no DNA links to his profile on WikiTree.
?
I assume that the website you are referring to is is that correct? If so, the site is working but your browser may have security settings that prevent redirecting from the links to the pages. Try mousing over a link you wish to visit and clicking your right mouse button, if you are on a computer. That will bring up a drop down menu that lets you open a new browser tab, new window, etc. If you want to avoid this issue with this and other sites, you can enable popups and new windows in the security settings for your browser.
?
If you are using a tablet, phone, etc., to view the site, then just press and hold the link and you should get the opportunity to select viewing options. You can also enable popups, new windows, etc., on browser security settings on those devices.
?
Let me know if you need further assistance with that. Out of curiosity, what kind of device are you using to access the web site?
?
No one participating in the Daniel Y DNA Project has listed James Simpson Daniel as an ancestor. Since your husband is not a Daniel, your best option to find a DNA connection is probably through a site that uses autosomal DNA, like Ancestry.com or MyHeritage.com. I was a subscriber to Ancestry.com for many years and had some success using their autosomal DNA test. That being said, autosomal DNA is only really reliable if your connection lived in the past 4-5 generations. Reliability of matches is also problematic based on the generally poor quality of family trees on these autosomal DNA testing providers' sites.
?
I have not used MyHeritage autosomal DNA testing but have observed that the quality of family trees on that site is comparable to trees on Ancestry, which is to say poor. I do not know how good their tools are for managing autosomal DNA. Ancestry's tools are pretty good. Just today, I got a promotional offer of $29 for autosomal DNA testing from MyHeritage. Ancestry may also have some seasonal sales.?
?
Let me know if you need further assistance.
?
You may get some comments from this post, but I suggest that you create a new post with your ancestor's name and dates in the subject line and information about him in the body? of the post.
?
?Let me know if you need assistance with that. I sent most of this data to your email address, if you want to take this off line. I can also send you my phone number if you need me to walk you through any of this.?

Re: Daniel Y DNA Project at Family Tree DNA
Hello Mr. Kevin Daniel, My husband's line is through James Simpson Daniel and Elizabeth Redwine. He does not carry the Daniel surname. I tried using the Daniel's website to learn more about his Daniel's line but the site does not work. Do you know of any other site that I can go to learn more about their DNA and where else they may have lived and if they came over from another country? I read somewhere that some of the Daniel's lived in Virginia. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Kindest Regards, Tia Sprague Gray

As I recall, it was a lady and she contacted me a couple of times. I am sure that I deleted her emails, but they may still be in my Trash or Sent messages folder as I did respond to her. I can check, if you want. It was probably about two-three years ago, before I bought my second house.. though time flies when you are retired..... It would be in local files on my computer at my other house.

The entry page to the project has not changed in several years. My source files are at my other house, so I am not sure when the last change was made to that page. The file will have the last modified date in the metadata. The links on that page, themselves, have been unchanged for quite a few years longer than that. I think the last time I did a change to the page was wording of the text and maybe added a link to an empty table field. Several of the other pages have undergone some significant changes. I did spot a couple of links to my co-manager's old email address on a couple of pages and a bad FTDNA link that need to be fixed. I try to do modifications at my other house so I don't have a syncing problem. Next time I am there, I will clean those up. The only page I update at both houses is the Results page. I use Seamonkey, which has a WYSIWYG editor.

Cheers,

开云体育Hey Jack,No…I do not descend from Josiah Daniel of Granville Co., NC. My Martin Daniel Sr (ca 1750-1811) never left Mecklenburg Co., VA and neither did his son Martin Daniel Jr (ca 1790-ca 1844) who married Avarilla “Avey” Yancey. ?My line follows through Martin Jr and Avey’s daughter Margaret Daniel who married John Henry Hewey Sr in 1849 in Mecklenburg Co., VA.
