Re: Rowan NC Daniel's
Janine, Do you think that is generally accepted?? I was under the impression that there was evidence that they were not the same.? But I don't know if there is a DNA test for the family that includes "Jack Daniel."? I think there is a DNA test for descendants in Wayne County, TN who have paper-trail proof of descent from Job Daniel. It has been many years since I have thought about this, I will look forward to reviewing. Carolyn Smotherman

Re: Rowan NC Daniel's
开云体育Hi, Carolyn, ?? I had to use DNA (Y) to connect my Josiah Daniel b 1805 NC to the Capt. William Daniel of Middlesex Co., VA, line. Not having any brothers, I found a Daniel male 1st cousin to do the test, then another man did it for us as he had his paper trail to share and that’s what I was lacking. He descends from a brother of my Josiah. We were one marker off on a 37 marker test and it was a “volatile” marker that can mutate in a 200 year period of time. It seems that it was exactly at our Josiah where that mutation took place as we remain one marker off from many other descendants of Capt. William (back to the 1600’s). A proven 3rd cousin then did the DNA test and matched my 1st cousin perfectly. I have a cousin who is working with DAR to see if they will accept the DNA match as we still cannot find one scrap of paper to prove that our Josiah was b in Caswell Co., NC. The process of elimination helped as we can’t find any other Daniel family in NC during the right time period who has an unidentified son b 1805. We also have the naming pattern where Josiah used his mother’s maiden name as a middle name for one of his sons and named a daughter Sarah after his mother (Sarah “Salley” Brown who m James Key Daniel). The 1st son was named James. Census records show Josiah b NC and parents b VA. James Key Daniel and Sarah “Salley” Brown were both b in VA and moved to NC. ???Maybe if you can find a descendant of Woodson who has done the DNA test it would help you. Georgia Daniel Cavanaugh ? Re: Rowan NC Daniel's
Clay, sadly James passed away in March.?
?
I have seen the conversations & the DNA evidence regarding your ancestor, Robert C. Daniel, so I understand that he was not a descendant of Job Daniel & Elizabeth Callaway. I was just curious as to any information about Job & Elizabeth that you may have learned while communicating with Evelyn Van Meter. For example, you had mentioned something about Elizabeth writing to a son in Lawrence County, TN. The William Daniel who lived in Lawrence County was my ancestor. However, we have come to believe that he was Job & Elizabeth's grandson rather than their son. Their son William, who was married to Argent, died in 1849.

Hi Clay My name is David Daniel, my oldest known ancestor is Britton Daniel b1815 on FTDNA you and I are both related closely along with Edward Daniel d1833. Do you have any idea how these lines are connected?? David Daniel On Fri, Nov 24, 2023, 12:05?AM Clay Daniels <clay.daniels.jr@...> wrote:

Is there DNA evidence to separate the Job Daniel & Elizabeth Andress family from the Joseph & Elizabeth Calaway family? Has someone transcribed the Elizabeth Daniel (widow of Job) Revolutionary pension application? Carolyn Smotherman --still looking for the parents of Woodson Daniel (1800-1847).

Re: Rowan NC Daniel's
Clay Daniels, I have a question about a comment that you made in this thread back in July of 2021. You were responding to James Daniel, & you mentioned your visit with Evely Van Meter. You also mentioned that Elizabeth (Job Daniel's wife) had written to her son in Lawrence County, TN. I have been working on Job Daniel's ancestors & descendants with Beverly Markland, who is also in this group. We are wondering if you know anything more about these letters, or any other information about Job & Elizabeth that may be helpful in our research.
?
Jame Daniel used to say that he had compiled quite a bit of information about Job & Elizabeth. Do you know if any of his research is available somewhere, such as Ancestry, MyHeritage, etc.?

Edward Daniel
I agree that there has been a bit of confusion between two separate individuals bearing the name Edward Daniel who lived in about the same time frame. My Daniel ancestor was one of these Edward Daniels, but not the one everyone seems to automatically go to - that being the Grainger Co., TN, Edward Daniel.
Kenneth L Daniel (who is a member of the Daniel DNA list - Ancestor #4014) is my second cousin once removed. We have done a lot of research over the years and have compiled the following: Our Edward was born about 1762, probably in Virginia, and married Mildred "Milly" Duncan ca 1790. Children were: Mary Polly Daniel (1793- ) George Daniel (1793-bef 1860, Married Editha "Edy" Alsup in Clay Co., IL) Rebecca Daniel (1794- ) Elizabeth C Daniel (1794- , married Randolph Allsup) John Daniel (1794-1860) William D Daniel (1796-1860, Married Adelphia "Delphia" Wilburn) Sara Sally Daniel (1797- ) Jemima Daniel (1799- ) James Monroe Daniel (1799-6 Nov 1854, Married Elizabeth Allsup in Rutherford Co., TN) Stephen Daniels (1801-bef 1860, Married Abigail Allsup in Rutherford Co., TN) Isaac Daniel (1804- ) Edward Daniel (1810- , Married 1st Rachel Orrick & 2nd Lavinia Cochran) Jessee Daniel (1813 bef 1870, Married Alzada "Zoda" Ware) Elizabeth Daniel (20 Jun 1817-17 Dec 1892, Married Richard Mattingly) Jincey Daniel (1818- ) Joseph L Daniel (12 May 1818-3 Apr 1871, Married Clarisa Delila Party) There is a 1792-1795 tax record found for an Edward Daniel in Patrick County, VA, based on 100 acres from a Samuel Vest. Hard to verify at this point but may point to his locale at the time. 1810 Surry County, NC, Census is the next post we have for him. The numbers seem to match his known children at the time. Edward Daniel: Males: ????2(0-10) - Edward, Stephen ????3(10-16) - James, William, John ????1(16-26), George ????1(45+).??Edward Females: ????1(0-10) - Elizabeth ????1(26-45). Millie We haven't found him definitely in the 1820 one as yet so it's on to Warren County, TN for the 1830 Census. ??Line 18, Edward Dannel: Males:?? 1(10-15 - Joseph), 1(15-20 - Jesse), 1(20-30 - Edward). 3(30-40 - George, John, & William D), Kenneth and I are both descendants of James Monroe Daniel & Elizabeth Allsup through grandsons William Evert Daniel (Kenneth's line) and Martin Van Buren Daniel (my line). I have gotten a first cousin - my mother's nephew - to take the FamilyTree YDNA test but haven't entered him to the Daniel DNA project as yet. 1(60-70 - Edward).?? Females:?? 1(10-15 - Jincey), 1(20-30 - Elizabeth), 1(50-60 - Millie).?? 10 total. It is believed he died in Illinois. The majority of his sons settled in Jefferson & Marion counties of Illinois as far as I have determined to date. I have found one other Edward Daniel - born in 1784 Maderia, Portugal who received a land grant on 6 May 1814 for service during the War of 1812. Information on him was sourced from the following: Ancestry.com, U.S. Army, Register of Enlistments, 1798-1914, Ancestry.com, Ancestry.com Operations Inc, 2007, Provo, UT, USA Ancestry.com, U.S. General Land Office Records, 1796-1907, U.S. General Land Office Records, 1796-1907 [database on-line]. Provo, UT, USA: Ancestry.com Operations Inc, 2008. So, there are other Edward Daniels out there other than the Grainger Co., TN. one so don't automatically assume he is the only one. Diane Christie |

Re: anyone still researching Edward Daniel of Grainger county , TN
Two compiled sources for you. which has mostly Ancestry.com sources and from Family Search. When Edward Daniel Sr. was born about 1750, in Henry, Virginia, United States, his father, John Daniel, was 26 and his mother, Anna Bates, was 26. He married Anna Mayes on 26 December 1772, in Shenandoah, Virginia, United States. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 3 daughters. He lived in Grainger, Tennessee, United States for about 16 years and Warren, Fayette, Tennessee, United States in 1830. He died after 25 December 1837, in Illinois, United States, and was buried in Grainger, Tennessee, United States. Laura Daniels Nixon |
DANIELS Family Photograph
I have an old studio photograph of Mildred DANIELS which was taken at the E. E. Shaner Studio in Chelsea, MI.? Mildred was 7 months old at the time and weighed 20 lbs.? Mildred birthdate is also noted as 12 Nov 1886.? Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Mildred and her family: ? Mildred Roxana DANIELS was b. 12 Nov 1886 in Superior, MI to parents Edward Warren DANIELS or MCDANIELS (1861-1935) and Susan “Susie” Waite BURKHART (1862-1940) who were married 21 Feb 1884 in Dexter, MI.? Mildred was one of 5 children born to this family including Mildred Roxana; Warren Rule or Reule; Dorothy Irene; Chole E.; and Charles Edward DANIELS, all born between 1886 and 1905.? ? Mildred married William R. MAYER (1873-1960) on 3 Oct 1931 in North Lake or Gregory, MI, and she died 17 Oct 1954 in Munith, MI and is buried in the Munith Cemetery in Munith, MI. ? I am hoping to locate someone from Mildred’s family so that the photograph can be returned to their care.? If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me. ? Thanks, Shelley |
