Believe it or not Trey the main part of the lathe was a peddle lathe. Tail stock cross slide and compound slide were missing. I did get the chip tray. What I got of the lathe was just like brand new not a sign of any wear. ?I had parts to complete the lathe from a couple of my parts lathes. The cast iron cabinet I actually got with a Lot six on it. Dalton built this cabinet so any of the lathes with a 30 to 36 inch bed could be bolted to it. But also I don’t have any literature showing one of the smaller lathes mounted to one of these cabinets. ?I also have one of these cabinets for a 48 inch bed length though not compleat. It’s missing two of the drawers ?and one cabinet door. What I have has all been powder coated. This was a parts lathe from Seattle Washington and was given to me just had to go pick it up. Lathe also was not complete and badly worn but parts from it has gotten two of our guys in the group getting there Dalton 9 up and running.?

There is one Dalton accessory?that has never been seen.? This being the Fox quick threading setup.? It was gear driven from the end gears but mounted on the back side of the lathe bed.? It allowed?for rapid threading and the standard threading lead screw was not used.? Rather the Fox setup had a master thread drum that a half nut would engage.? There were several thread drums available and by using?change gears on the end gear train you could cut many different threads.? It was fast and very efficient.? I don't?have any photos or catalog images of the setup but over the years parts to a Fox setup have been found on two different Daltons though none complete. The Fox quick threading setup was used on a number of different lathe brands. Dennis

In 2016 I participated in the NAMEs model engineering show in Wyandotte?Michigan and Ralph sent me the collet closer setup that I did some clean? up work on and it was displayed on my Lot 5 we hauled to the show. All Ralphs accessories?are all new items none look like they have never been used.? I was also at the NAMEs show in 2015 and Ralph came and had all these parts in his car so I was able to see all his treasures.? ?I know Ralph has one if? not two like new Dalton lathes that are packed away I understand.? The pictures I found you can see one of two I think that exist that being the lever operated tailstock.? Also pictures of Ralphs lever collet closer and for the erra the pivoting guard that covers the closer when in use.? To be able to mount the lever operated collet closer your lathe had to come from the factory lever closer ready.? The collet closer pivot arm is attached to a very special extension?from the end door hinge.? My Lot 5 is the only small Dalton I have with this special attachment.? I do have a Dalton 9? that has the lever collet closer and it's the only one known that fits the Lot 6 and Dalton 9. I don't know if they produced a milling attachment for your lathe,
but they produce one for my 7" lathe. They are also shown in the
catalog for the 7".? There's a dividing head, a follower rest,
milling attachment, a quick collet closer with the associated
guards...

Trey as to a SB with roller bearings you're out of luck.? SB never built a small lathe with anything?but plain bearings.? They did in later years build 14 inch? with a roller bearing spindle.? Logan was always roller bearings or should?I say ball bearings.? The Logan 200 or the Wards version of it you don't?want as they have special made bearings that are not available and were built by New Departure especially for Logan.? There is a replacement?that fits but it has too much running clearance and as such the lathe is prone to a lot of vibration.? The 11 inch Logan is a good lathe with proper spindle bearings and a power cross feed apron gear box. Don't discount an import as long as it's like a Jet PY model in a 10 ro 12 inch and can be gotten with? longer beds.? I have a late 70's Jet 10 24 here in my coast shop that I did a lot of upgrades to and is a really nice lathe.? Jet as well as others sold a lathe that looks like the PY and jet called it a P model.? You don't?want one of these. Picture is of my 10 by 24 Jet PY model. This lathe is 500 pound plus?weight.? I also have a SB? 9 inch workshop lathe that's an A model that means?it has power feeds and a quick change gear box.? This is a brand new 1946 lathe and has never cut a chip.? It needs to find a good home.? It's also mounted on a first time made 1945 steel stand with a butcher?block top.? Even the motor is a brand new one out of a SB box that had a date tage of 1945.

I have a copy of the original sales receipt for my ‘47 SB heavy 10 but nothing else. ?I love old literature.
that nut on my SB was a little different but same general idea and like you said, I think someone hit it a time or two with a hammer to swell it out. ?Restoring a lathe when you have a functional lathe is a lot easier than doing it w/o one.
