Greetings from a new member!
10
Hi all. While I'm brand new to this forum I've owned my DQ-10s for around 40+ years. My current set up is with the DQ-10s, a pair of DQ-1Ws and a DQ-LP1 powered by Carver amps at 500 watts a side. The combination of clarity, definition, sound stage and pulse altering bass is so fun. BTW, if you get a chance listen to Ratchets by Hedegaard as a speaker test. Breathtaking. I've been using a variety of source mediums from vinyl to CDs and now through high end streaming which is surprisingly getting decent. Ok, enough about that. I've decided to do another tune up of the system. About 15 years ago I made new crossovers and have also replaced the woofers and tweeters. I'm not thinking of doing another refresh by having the LP1 tuned up and as well getting fresh crossovers and sending them to Regnar for the work. They don't have any crossovers so I'd have to find a set of stock ones to send them. So a couple of questions... Does anyone know of where I could get two original DQ-10 crossovers? Has anyone had work done by Regnar and were you happy with the service/results/cost? Thanks so much.

SVS Pinnacle - Anyone Familiar with these?
3
SVS Ultra Evolution Pinnacle Speaker (svsound.com) I was reading about these and it seems time delay and baffle minimization (like the DQ10) play a key role in their design. Anyone heard of these? Curved front baffle aligns all drivers on a vertical plane ensuring sound from each driver reaches your ears at the exact same instant. Maximizes phase coherence for more convincing and immersive soundstage with pinpoint accuracy and imaging. Midrange drivers and woofers positioned above and below the tweeter allow for seamless crossover blending to create an idealized “point-source” where sound emanates from single point in front of the speaker to optimize dispersion characteristics.

DQM-9 Woofer Wanted
4
I have a Dahlquist problem, all of my other floor standing speakers have left the building and only a pair if DQ-20s and M-905s remain along with a pair of DQM-9s that just rolled in with a punched in woofer. Does anyone have a spare? Needing foam is cool with me. Matt in Washington State, USA

Powered sub recommendation to match with DQ-10's
16
Moving and new home won't accommodate my two DQ1W subs (too big) so I want to replace with smaller powered subs. Want to try and "match" them with my DQ-10's as much as possible because in the main room it will do double duty (music AND movies). Only options under $750 likely to be considered - don't need to break the bank on this effort. Thanks. Also means my LP1 unit will go on the block too.

DQ-1W wanted...

Greetings! Looking for a DQ-1W to match an existing. Currently using one, with an LP1, and would like a second... in good shape. I'm located in Louisville, KY, so within 300 hundred miles would make for a day trip. Thanks all for your consideration.

Onkyo RX-50 Receiver - anyone using it with the DQ-10's?
Curious as I may go with this unit. Has Zone 2 and Zone 3 pre-outs so I can connect it directly ( as a preamp) to my two Hafler amps, OR, connect either pair of speakers directly to the Onkyo since both zones can also serve as powered outputs. Hefty price tag but would like to chat with any owners out here before pulling the trigger.

DQ-10 Walnut Side Panels
10
Hello from Australia and congrats to all on the fantastic site. I've recently "almost" completed a restoration on my DQ-10's and the last task was to attach the side panels but alas, they are nowhere to be found, solely due to relocation in another town and the rogue efforts of some "knuckle dragging neanderthal" moonlighting as a removalist... So my real problem is that I need to obtain side panels and hoping someone on this site can help me. Many thanks in advance for advice or direction.. Cheers..

DQ-1W woofer replacement
4
The speaker of my DQ-1W just broke. Elecrically it is OK but nothing moves anymore. Probably it will not be possible to repair it. So I'm looking for a replacement speaker. It is a 13" SEAS 33 F-WK DQ. Any idea on where to possibly find one?

DQ subs and crossover for sale
I have two original Dahlquist DQ-1W subwoofers for sale. Both have nice wood veneers (maybe an 8/10) and the grill cloth has been replaced with acoustically transparent cream (or off white) fabric with a classy wool look. No other mods - original drivers with no issues whatsoever. Both units work flawlessly. Non-smoking environment. They have been carefully packed away. Moving and no room for them. I also have a DQ-LP1 crossover I want to sell with them. Will not sell Xover separately. Doubt anyone wants to pay for shipping these so if interested I am near Durham, NC. If interested I can be reached at sky27709@...

DQ-20 Re-Foam Surround Question
4
Hi. I’m new to the group and glad to be here. I recently found a nice pair of DQ-20s in the field in great condition. I will be taking a detailed look at them starting this weekend. Should I need new foam surrounds, are the Simply Speakers foam surrounds commonly found on Amazon OEM or is there a more preferred OEM surround I should get to keep the speakers OEM. I email Regnar but get no response. Grateful. Thanks.

These look frickin amazing in white with all wood legs

I bought identical sized metal legs off Amazon for my two pairs to get them to optimal height without huge bulky stands, but they aren't wood like these babies! very cool upgrade.

Height Placement of DQ10s
7
I have my DQ10s raised with mid-woofer/tweeter at hear level at my listening position. This is raised about 7” above the intended height of the DQ10s on their original stands. Wondering if I should lower their height for a better vertical off-axis sound. I don’t hear any particular sound change when I stand up but I was wonder if others had a opinion about a raised DQ10 speaker height.

Crossovers
43
Greetings everyone! Regnar rebuilt my DQ10’s about 15 years ago, which included rebuilding the crossovers. The new crossover parts, their quality doesn’t appear to be exceptionally high - the resistors, for example, are the inexpensive ceramic type. I’m guessing the performance of these speakers would improve with a quality crossover, but, I’m not keen to rebuild the whole thing, as some of these boutique parts can be quite expensive - is it worth it? I was thinking of just replacing the seven resistors - would this be enough to affect a noticeable improvement in sound quality/transparency? Thanks, John

Full metal basket Advent woofer time alignment in DQ-10
4
I noticed on the page /g/DahlquistSpeakers/wiki/23822/158757 dedicated to the Advent woofer used in the DQ-10 (the one with the masonite ring) that the subsequent model used in the New Advent Loudspeaker (the one with full metal basket) and used as a replacement in the DQ-10 is declared to have the same parameters as the original woofer. This seems true to me with regards to the parameters reported on the aforementioned page, but not for another parameter which concerns the position of the cone with respect to the panel on which the transducer is mounted. In fact, I understand that to have the cone in the same relative position (with respect to the panel) as that of the original woofer it is necessary to advance the new woofer using a ring (I don't know if this is compatible with the position of the covering cloth of the front panel of the DQ -10). In a project like that of the DQ-10 which gives importance to the alignment of the emission centers of the transducers, I believe that this aspect must be carefully considered. What I am saying is already confirmed by the photos of the two versions contained in the aforementioned page (in particular you can see how the cone of the full metal basket woofer is significantly set back compared to the panel on which it is mounted). If you want, I can also look for some photos I took, precisely to highlight this aspect, of the woofers of my two pairs of DQ-10s (one pair has the original woofers, the other has the full metal basket woofers).
