Re: FT60R doesn't connect
开云体育Dean and others,,I've been digesting the several comments and suggestions, but haven't yet had the time to isolate them yet. Had an antenna demand some attention after a storm. I appreciate all the helpful thoughts. I'm pretty sure I have the correct 4 circuit connector for the radio and it is thoroughly engaged.? I need to find the old driver online and see if that will help. Can an old driver over write a newer one? Not sure about how to do that. Ray, W4BYG On 8/11/2024 12:05, Dean - KC9REN

Unable to upload to UV-5R Plus
#UV-5RPlus
Has anyone ?been successful uploading to a Baofeng UV-5R Plus?
?
The radio goes into transmit mode when upload is attempted and then times out. ?Tried various releases including CHIP Legacy 20221217 all on Windows 10. Not sure if there is driver issue. ?The last time I successfully used the software was probably on Windows 7 using the same programming cable.

Re: FT60R doesn't connect
Ray W4BYG said this is an FT-60? HT and the FT-60 only has 1 connector although it does have 4 terminals on that 1 connector. Some of you are referring to the 2 connector plug that is used on the Baofeng and Quansheng radios and they do have to be pushed in hard at least the first time. I'm thinking you may be confusing him by your comments. Ray W4BYG, are you sure you are using the correct connector that has 4 terminals on it and not a 3 terminal connector? This may ne a silly question but it is something to just double check.

Re: FT60R doesn't connect
There are some cables that have a different spacing between the two
connectors on the molded plug. It's possible that the cable has the wrong connector spacing on the plug. It might work with a hard push, or it might be enough out of alignment that it doesn't make the connection somewhere in the radio. One of the cables I have has 8 ends on it (another I have has 9 or 10). Two of the molded "double connectors" look the same to me, but one fits easily and one can be sort of pushed into place in some of my radios. If I run into that situation, I just use the individual single connectors. Some radios only need the one connector. I haven't seen Ray's response yet, but my email is crazy. I can see some email comes in much later than messages that should have come in after them, so we may find out if it's the Prolific cable that's the problem (if it's using a fake Prolific chip, which is very common today). If it's that, the old driver might be all that's needed. Donald KX8K On Sun, 11 Aug 2024 08:35:42 +0800, "Alek Petkovic via groups.io" <vk6apk@...> wrote: Push hard on the plug into the radio. Re: FT60R doesn't connect
I think with the Prolific cable it's probably using a fake Prolific
chip. That problem was so widespread they changed the driver to recognize the fakes and not work with them. Some will say in device manager it's not working. Some will appear to work but don't, or work sometimes. I'd try the Vista driver (see my longer email for the longer story and some double-checks to make if this doesn't work): You can try this PL driver version 3.2.0.0: Check for viruses. I installed it and got no viruses found by my AV software. Keep a copy of it handy if you use it since Windows Update likely will "update" it to the current version. Re: FT60R doesn't connect
Ray, I have to ask, when you have your cable plugged into the computer and you look at Device Manager and look at the comm port, is there a little yellow triangle next to it? I also suggest you select update driver, select Browse my computer for drivers, and then select let me choose driver. Then select the driver you want for your cable. If you need a legacy driver for your cable be sure to select that one. Look at the date of the driver and select an older driver. Let us know if this helps.

We'll wait for someone who has had problem with that particular radio to reply, but is the radio supported in CHIRP-Next? If so, do you get the same error using it instead? I've had no problems with legacy CHIRP with my Baofeng HT not CHIRP-Next with my older Icom HT. Knowing it works fine for me is of no help to you, other than indicating the legacy and the next versions is working with some radios. Let me ask some questions that you likely would check all the boxes on and agree that you did it correctly. Some of these you already said you did, if I read it correctly. I'm going with the directions I can easily find online: You indicated that you identified the radio in the software and selected Com4. Do you know that the driver is using COM 4 for a certainty? What does Device Manager show under PORTS and that are the properties for the Prolific driver for your Prolific cable? Did your driver get installed by Windows or did you do it manually? Are you sure you don't have a FDTI or a WCH (CH340/314) cable and you're using the wrong driver? If you have a Prolific cable, is it a fake or a real Prolific? Fake ones are recognized by the driver software and won't work. I've had no problems with any FDTI or WCH cable. The latter ones are cheaper but you have to search for the driver if it doesn't come with it, but it's not hard to find. I have one with maybe 10 connectors that allow me to program nearly any radio by choosing the correct end(s). You can reassign the COM port if there's a conflict, and once you get it working you can assign it to a COM port of 15 or higher to keep Windows Update from reassigning your port during an update. Lower-numbered COM ports are somewhat dynamic in this respect; otherwise they will remain unchanged until something changes it, either Windows Update or you, or possibly some other event. If you reassign a COM port to a device driver, you will need to restart your software, and possibly restart everything. COM port is everything here. If you're using a COM port that's different than the one the cable driver is using, it may say CLONING but it won't be able to do it. I think I've seen that happen before with the wrong COM port. Did you put the RADIO into CLONE mode? I have to do that on my mobile FT-8800R. (You said you did this.) You said, "I rebooted the PC with the radio connected, but off." The YouTube video has the radio on at the beginning of the video. Near the end of your email you agreed with what you said earlier and said you have a Prolific cable: " 'Devices and Printers' and 'Device manager' both confirm the Prolific is recognized at port 4 and reported as working OK. I checked to see if there was an update for the driver. It is current." Current or not, if this is the case (a possible alternative solution is shown below), I recommend getting an FDTI cable and trying with that one. There are reports of many fake Prolific cables that don't work with the official driver. You can research and possibly find the old driver that does work with the fake cables, as I understand they changed the driver after a certain date. I've also read where FDTI was doing the same thing, so here's what I can find on the Prolific chip/cables: =========================================== Prolific Chipset Nearly every programming cable that is detected by Windows as having a Prolific chip was manufactured with an unauthorized or cloned copy of the Prolific PL2303HXA chip. The latest driver installed by Windows (Vista, 7, 8.1 and 10) is not compatible with these chips. The last compatible Prolific driver was v3.3.2.105 [27/10/2008]. Windows may attempt to automatically load the Prolific driver 3.6.xx.xxx when inserting your cable. When opening Device Manager, the Yellow Caution Triangle may not appear, however, when the cable is inserted into the radio, the transmitter will turn on. This should not occur. It was done to prevent use of the cloned chip. More detail can be found Here. If this occurs, you Must backdate your driver to 3.2.0.0 ============================================ According to the web page above, you can try this PL driver version 3.2.0.0: Check for viruses. I installed it and got no viruses found by my AV software. Keep a copy of it handy if you use it since Windows Update likely will "update" it to the current version. Some more information on the overall FAKE chipset problem in those cables: (pl2303)-usb-serial-adapters/ You may need to copy and paste the above link since my email client doesn't recognize anything from the "(" onward. The link to the Prolific FAQ from that web page is broken but the #3 part under the FAQ said at one time that this was their chip validity and support issue. My take on that is that they don't want to have to support fake chips, but it also is a way to encourage buying the real thing. So since you already have what purports to be a Prolific chip in your cable, try the old driver and see if the Windows-Vista-era drivers will work with your cable If it does, then you likely have a rip-off fake cable. But if it works, then why not keep it? Make the driver use COM port 15 or higher and hope Windows won't update it. Use the old driver again if it does indeed update it anyway. The type of cable I have is what I call the octopus: I also have the official Baofeng cable and one for my FT-8800R. The latter came with the RT Systems programming software and cable when I bought the radio used. Hope you get it working. FT60R doesn't connect
开云体育I have an solid and reliable Win7 PC and two FT6oRs. I would like to have matching entries in both radios.I loaded the "legacy" chirp software and manually loaded the needed driver. I identified the radio in the software and selected Com4.? I have a Prolific USB to serial cable plugged into the radio. (I believe that is the correct cable). I rebooted the PC with the radio connected, but off. After reboot, I pushed the moni button while turning on the radio and progressed to the clone setting. I then pushed the F/W button and then the PTT button to try to get the radio to report to Chirp. The software displays "Cloning". After a few moments I get "An Error has occurred. Failed to communicate with the radio: Radio not responding"). The Ff60 also displayed an short error message. "Devices and Printers" and "Device manager" both confirm the Prolific is recognized at port 4 and reported as working OK. I checked to see if there was an update for the driver. It is current. Port settings are 9600>8>1>none Not sure how to proceed from here. Is there anyone who can help me get the radio talking to the PC? Your assistance would be appreciated. Re: CHIRP on Ubuntu MATE 23.10
Hi David.? Since 23.10 is no longer supported, I decided to upgrade to 24.04. after doing so, I installed chirp and it runs flawlessly. I think 23.10 had some issue with GTK3 and/python. Anyway, the upgrade to Ubuntu MATE 24.04 was fairly painless. Good luck! 73 de Mike/KY6MM On Sun, Aug 4, 2024, 19:29 David Strandberg via <kj6pyv=[email protected]> wrote:

开云体育That is a great idea. I will try that.? I see the Anytone 778UV supports crossband operation in VFO mode, so it is usable on the satellites but it would be easier if you could store the different satellite frequencies in memory.? The menu item for it on crossband operation only works in VFO mode, not with memories. 73 John AF5CC Sent using Zoho Mail ---- On Mon, 15 Jul 2024 20:18:05 -0500 Jim Unroe <jru.groupsio@...> wrote ---

Not a list, but most any 2 or more band models do. To make sure you could download the test image from the CHIRP repository (or extract it from the tarball available on the download page), load it into CHIRP and see if the Duplex field supports the 'split' choice.
