Re: zbitx - No Tx on WSJTX?
This morning I installed the zbitx Image on a uSD card and started it on my sBitx v2 device.
Apart from the hardware difference, the radio control panel started. I tried to configure the wsjt-x program and my experience is the same as yours. The CAT control does not work normally, i.e. nothing happens when I click on CAT.
It is as if the previously non-working version is installed here.
There is also a problem with the RPi clock display, because no matter how much I set the geographical location, it does not show the correct time.

Unable to Update Pi Zero
Still trying to update zBitx Pi Zero. I've hooked up an external HDMI monitor and powered up the zBitx.? I am presented with a pi login screen, but the default password is not working; I have not changed it to anything else. So I cannot proceed to the terminal program or do any updating.

Re: zbitx - No Tx on WSJTX?
Please try to remove the Audio tab-> Transmit and Tune selection, it might be interfering.
I searched back in the topic and found timing info in message #101736. The 32-bit version of sbitx uses the same hamlib.
Links to sbitx: /g/BITX20/wiki/30883 /g/BITX20/wiki/34287 Note that I didn't know anything about Debian before summer 2022. If you change anything, always have a previous working backup so you have something to fall back to. I think the others are watching the messages because it doesn't work for them either.

Re: zbitx - No Tx on WSJTX?
I have ordered a zBitx from the next batch and would really appreciate it if it could include WSJTX. I like the program, it is a good standard, and seems ,at this time, to be difficult to get working. If that could be figured out and included it would be really greatly appreciated! ?In a past life, indications and warning (IW) was a required skill. Sorry for not expanding prior thoughts sufficiently. Maybe this will be better.? That the administration believes there is sufficient infrastructure in place to cancel exemptions for one category, means all other categories are in play. That the "detent" has been removed from that proverbial "control" is not good for hams? because there's less friction - things can change much more quickly now. (Indicator/warning).? It's not good for folks that homebrew Farhan's rigs or test equipment, either. Right now.
?
There's currently a 10% tariff on imports from India, with an additional 26% on the way in about 12 hours. The only thing keeping Farhan out of the cross hairs is that they ship individual radios, or small lots, in quantities below the *current* threshold.? That also means HF Signals better not send a large box to retailers (ie Gigaparts) as that would cause a price disconnect between them and 'factory direct'.? Those sorts of trade wars are no less damaging than the larger nation-state level urinary Olympiads.?
?
?Batteries and chargers for the zBITX are impacted now, as are PCB orders from JLCPCB et al. Scratch builders are affected.? I planned a board order for my re-worked uBITX PA section and that's on indef hold.? Mouser and Digikey have tariffs advisory pages and are highlighting parts/assemblies that are affected. About 80% of my project parts are impacted.
?
I had a business making custom LiFePO4 batteries and management systems last time around. I feel for HF Sigs - I know how many jars of Tums I went thru before being forced to shut the business down. I don't wish this chaos on any business owner.? Please note that the captain has turned on the fasten seatbelt sign...
?
This lovely corner of the internet isn't just for the folks that buy complete radios, Ken.

Stuck on Waiting for the zBitx to start
After updating firmware, my zBitx ran ok once, but on the next power up is stuck on the "waiting" message. Also, I am unable to log in the pi as I don't know the default password (can't get into the files section to check user.ini). I attemped to change the PASSKEY but that keeps reverting back to "PASSKEY" when I power up again, and "PASSKEY" doesn't seem to work as my pi user password.? Any ideas?

Still not working?
Can change band using wsjt-x.
Test CAT does nothing.
Pressing Tune causes the zbitx to reboot?

Re: Do not run this on the zbitx
Leo,
Get the latest wiringpi from github. It works. I have installed the zbitx from souce as instructed in install.txt file. I used an earlier version and the wiringpi gave runtime error. Hope it helps. I have not tested complete zbitx functions as I do not have full hardware. 73s VU2SPF Bhatnagar |
Re: zBitx - Orders open
The week ended ... my zbitx order, paid for in Dec 2024, is still ;
" Your Order #3481 Current status : Awaiting processing " . I'm hoping that the sales @ Hamvention will not proceed before receiving my order.... ?

Re: CW decode
So many believe that CW decoders are their answers. They're not!? I've been doing morse since 1970 and have seen and played with a few decoders. No matter how well they work they can't help the operator who is sending the code who run their letters together bad spacing etc or likely deal with the static crashes signal fading. That said the decoder on my SBITX is par and I like when it doesn't know it puts the .... or the ----- in so you can guess. If you want to give it a fair chance tune in W1AW code practice since it is computer generated its spacing and speed spelling are all spot on. Plus the transmitt on several? bands so you can always find a strong one.

Re: Tariffs and zBitx Shipments

Wouldn't it be better if the device was declared at customs as educational subassemblies? In principle, there is nothing wrong with it, we don't make a profit, we don't resell and by the nature of the product the device can be continuously improved.
Possibly even a disassembled product. Surely radio amateurs can assemble a housing... On this principle, for lower customs duties, many industrial assemblers receive televisions. Just an opinion... ?
