Re: sBitx Raspberry OS image (Debian 12 based)

The file is a gzip'ed compressed image. So better decompress it before writing to the SD (but it does not matter, can also do it on the fly "gzip -d ... | dd of=/dev/sdcard ).

Re: One way to apply some recent important code changes #sBitx

Hi all

I was also scratching my head about this. How about the DASH signal (RPi pin 29) ? I think it was supposed to be used by something, but I'm not sure how, as I never really understood how to trigger it. But when in CW mode, when PTT is down, how the software does not know if it is voice or CW?

I think the PTT line is shared between the mic jack and the key jack?

I learned that it is.

This means you really can't have independent logic for CW vs Voice.

This means my desire to use a mono plug for CW just won't work.

The instant I plug in a mono plug the PTT for both CW and Voice are asserted.

Given the line is shared, there's no way for the software to treat CW and Voice independently.

In theory I could wire up an independent GPIO for each but then I have my own unique configuration.

In the real world it's easier to wire up a stereo plug with ring floating for the straight key.

So, there's no pressing need for a new "cherry picking" script till the next interesting set of changes are developed.

Yes, it's been busy for me yesterday and will be again today, but maybe I'll have time to give it a try today or tomorrow.? One problem is I do not have any 64GB sdcards around here.? I trying to think of something I have bigger than 32GB for a boot device.? I have a USB-to-SATA adapter, maybe I can find an old SATA drive, although I try to not leave those lying around these days.? We shall see.

Note in that thread that JJ said he had the same error about no partitions but fixed it by changing settings??

Specan and Si570 Output to ADE-1 Mixer level

I have successfully got my Specan working, after finding the right Windows Specan UI software.
query on design: ?Si570 output is 400 mV pp, followed by MAV 11 amplifier and 6dB pad. This mean -2 dBm + 12 dB -6 dB = 4 dBm into the ADE-1 Mixer?

These mixers prefer +7 dBm , but guess they work at + 4 dBm?

and should I have a 0.01 uF cap between the 6 dB pad and the LO input?
My 100 MHz 2nd oscillator has a lower output signal, is this an issue?

harald,
I tried adding a squelch control and then, it became tricky to set it
correctly. I hope we can find an auto squelch. It is irritating to see
the random decodes.

Last night three of us agreed testing the cw further. All three were sending from our computers. I was the only one using the sBitx. The band was quiet and all three systems received 100% correctly as long as the code was machine generated.
I was quite pleased with the sBitx. We all used the same WPM I had a narrow BW of 300 Hz.
So far so good. But he moment the the other station stopped sending the sBitx window is filled up with Es, Ts and dot s and dashes and other characters decoded from the noise received although the band was very quiet.
It would have been so good to get rid of all that noise generated text. I am looking for a function like squelch in FM or noice limiter of some sort. I tried to adjust the IF level down but to no gain.
So my questions are: What settings are you using for cw, and have anyone found a way to reduce all the noise generated characters?

Hello Jens,

I do not know how to answer your "7 LAN connection."

The standard (normal) or crossed cables were once required before current Ethernet chips could auto-sense the TX/RX pairs.? That was when the router to switches needed a different connection than the switch or router to a device.

As to length, standard Ethernet cables can be up to 100 meters in length before an amplifier or switch is needed to boost the signal.? Any standard cable should work.? If there are high RF fields, then a shielded cable would be better to reduce interference with the connection.

Hi Tom,

I would test that Q9 and Q101 are working correctly.? Then verify that you get the bias voltage on D6 with the PA_BIAS fully counterclockwise.? If the 5.6 volts is on D6, adjust the bias to start conducting current and verify the voltage on the gates of one of the IRFZ24N transistors.

A failed Q9 or Q101 will not power the pre-driver stages and the bias circuit.

Yup, upper left corner is for sound input to the internal microphone.? Doubt it is very useful, but will check it out and relocate if necessary.

The speaker is the problem.? I have just left it where it was in the HF Signals case. But. I have no info on where the speaker can be purchased or even its size and impediance.? Can anybody help on this???

Re: Icom microphone on the sBitx?

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Again, I don¡¯t quite understand this but simply using a mic with very high output works great.

The exact same thing is observed with external digital signals from a signallink for example; you have to change the jumper to get high enough output for this radio. ?
