Evan,
The confusion is on my part.? I used the word tone, but I meant sine wave at frequency x and y.? You were perfectly clear.? I haven't had a chance to work on this just yet.? Thanks for the help. Thanks, Bryce AK4MG |
Does a PI 4 with 4gig ram Require any software changes?
Will a pi 4 model B 4gig ram work with current version of sbitx without any software update etc
Since I already have a pi 4 model B with 4gig ram I ordered? the sbitx ver without pi4 Just want to be sure the 4gig with 4g ram is plug and play.... Thanks Joe VE1BWV? |

Re: KF8CEC¡¯s firmware question
I have to backtrack on that "bug".? Everything appears to function as expected. STOP prevents any TX (no relay clicking in). Interestingly, it does light the TX light on the Nextion like it was really in TX mode. But without that Relay switching it is not.
However, it does look like the code assumes that the default value of a variable is Zero (never assigned before using...)? Got me thinking about why doesn't bootinto SDR mode work..... Need to review the code a little more... At the very least, the Nextion shouldn't pretend like it is going to TX and make the TX light red.... Maybe that is the only bug... 73 Mark -- AJ6CU KD8CEC 2.0, Nextion Screens,? and open source uBITX Raduino boards for Arduino IOT, BLE, RP2040, Teensy 4.0, and Raspberry Pi Pico https://github.com/aj6cu |

Re: KF8CEC¡¯s firmware question
Eduardo,
Wow!? That is a different approach!? Not sure I can help a lot here as I am starting to pack up for moving from California to a new QTH.? The XYL is "strongly" encouraging me to disassemble my lab as its the biggest eye sore for potential renters or buyers.? The best I can try to do is find out why the obvious "button" to stop TX and allow the radio to go into CW practice mode was never implemented.? I suspect as I dig into this, I will find a cryptic comment about "had to disable this feature to support xyz"...? But from your further discription sounds like this has nothing to do with your problem... There was another HAM? a few weeks back that was trying to add in a specialized CW filter and it required some changes to the code that drove the Si5351. You might search back through the prior positing and see how far he got.? I suspect what he was trying to do is at least in related area. 73 Mark -- AJ6CU KD8CEC 2.0, Nextion Screens,? and open source uBITX Raduino boards for Arduino IOT, BLE, RP2040, Teensy 4.0, and Raspberry Pi Pico https://github.com/aj6cu |

Re: #sbitx a software update to fix the spikes

Neil,
The post the link points to was for the original sbitx DE V1, not the V2.? This was an early attempt to solve a similar issue with the DE versions resulting from hardware issues.? This attempt did not work and was replaced with the T/R board and PA mods supplied to all DE owners.? All of the T/R hardware mods were done in the V2 boards.? It is one of the mods that distinguishes a DE from a V2. If you have a V2, do not make this mod, even if you could find the board locations to make the changes. I wish that the posts on the webpage were at least dated, if not edited, to state if they no longer apply.? or if they are for a specific version.? It is good to preserve history as long as it is noted when it no longer applies. 73 Evan AC9TU |
Re: KF8CEC¡¯s firmware question
Hello Mark, I¡¯ll have the whole Saturday off, maybe we can exchange ideas on how to make this work¡ I¡¯m working on a RFT SEG15D. That radio have it¡¯s own CW switching method, means when you select CW mode and press PTT it start to send code. It was designed for straight keys.? But uBitx needs to be put on TX and use CW key to unbalance the first mixer.? In my board I managed the 2 pulses on the same line with transistors on switching mode¡ so if I use a keyer, I¡¯ll have a continuous pulse (TX) plus a switched pulse (keyer) and the rig will see only a continuous pulse¡ I need to stop the Tx pulse on CW mode in order to use the keyer ( and of course stop shutting down those 2 oscillators that are down for CW originally) That¡¯s basically what I need. This is btw the second rig I modified. The original synthesizer is 50 years old technology and shows a lot of problems, no mention that is huge and allows to work from 1-11.999MHz¡? Thanks for your reply? 73¡¯s de Eduardo/W5EGM On Thu, Jun 8, 2023 at 8:30 AM Mark Hatch <mark2382@...> wrote: There appears to be a bug in at least 1.2 that the "STOP function does not prohibit TX. Re: #sbitx_v2 Digital mode
#sbitx_v2
Hi Nir,
This mode is used with applications such as FT8 and WJST-X (which is an external program). I currently run WJST-X routinely and yes you have to run in Digital mode. ?The RPi sound card is used and it works well for me. ?I¡¯d like to run JS8Call but I¡¯ve not been able to make that work. Others will have more technical descriptions but that¡¯s what it¡¯s for. Cheers, Scott |

I have one question related to this that I'm confused about.
I definitely have what we would call an EARLY ver2 since I have serial 001. I have NOT performed the PA sequencing mod described here yet:? SHOULD I have done this mod?? Or, does this update take care of the same thing? Thanks in advance for the advice. I'm running with reduced drive to be safe for now, but making contacts! --Neil, W2NDG |

Re: KF8CEC¡¯s firmware question
There appears to be a bug in at least 1.2 that the "STOP function does not prohibit TX. This is true if you use STOP from the Nextion and also if you disable it via the Encoder ("Yellow Window") option that appears after you enable "Setup".. Perhaps not a bug, just never implemented.?
Perhaps some of the OM on this list have some history on that function?? If I get some time in the next couple days I will poke at it and see if I can at least fix this in V2 CEC. 73 Mark -- AJ6CU KD8CEC 2.0, Nextion Screens,? and open source uBITX Raduino boards for Arduino IOT, BLE, RP2040, Teensy 4.0, and Raspberry Pi Pico https://github.com/aj6cu |
