Wow!? That is a different approach!? Not sure I can help a lot here as I am starting to pack up for moving from California to a new QTH.? The XYL is "strongly" encouraging me to disassemble my lab as its the biggest eye sore for potential renters or buyers.? The best I can try to do is find out why the obvious "button" to stop TX and allow the radio to go into CW practice mode was never implemented.? I suspect as I dig into this, I will find a cryptic comment about "had to disable this feature to support xyz"...? But from your further discription sounds like this has nothing to do with your problem...
There was another HAM? a few weeks back that was trying to add in a specialized CW filter and it required some changes to the code that drove the Si5351. You might search back through the prior positing and see how far he got.? I suspect what he was trying to do is at least in related area.
