? ?Hi all, Just a reminder that Saturday, 3/2/24, at 3:00 will be our annual get together for planning out this summer¡¯s tandem ride schedule. We¡¯ll have a finger food/snacks potluck and lots of catching up on last year¡¯s tandem adventures. Word is that some tandem emeritus teams will be joining us as well! If you know others who might not be on this mailing list please spread the word. As I type this the weather is looking iffy for Saturday. I will send out a ride go/no-go on Friday. IF the forecast improves, Bill and Sally Ryder have volunteered to lead a short, 12ish, mile ride from the church before the meeting. It will be a ¡°follow the leader¡± ride with no drops! We will plan to roll out at 1:30. The church restrooms will be available before the ride. The church address is: Christ Memorial Presbyterian Church 10600 Shaker Drive Columbia MD 21046 We are looking forward to seeing everyone! Thanks, Mike and Evie Ed and Laurie

2024 Tandem planning get together, March 2 @ 3:00
12
Hi all, After several years of Zoom meetings we are going to have an in-person gathering for visiting and planning our 2024 Tandem rides! We will be meeting in the late afternoon for a "finger foods and snacks" pot luck, signing up to lead rides, and sharing tandem ride tales from 2023. All tandem cyclists and anyone interested in tandems are welcome. Please consider volunteering to lead a ride; it is easy, fun, and low in calories! If you would like to lead but don't have a favorite route we can help you select one. This year we will again start by scheduling a ride on the 3rd weekend of each month and then adding additional days as folks are willing to lead. If you would like to lead a ride but can't attend please email us your preferred date and location. With the help of Bill and Sally Ryder we have arranged to rent the Fellowship Hall of their church in Columbia. That seemed like a fairly central location for CRABS and WABITS to travel to. If you would like to chip-in toward the rental fee we will have a basket available. March 2, 2024 @ 3:00 Christ Memorial Presbyterian Church 10600 Shaker Drive Columbia MD 21046 IF the weather cooperates we may try to have a short ride from the church before the meeting. Stay tuned for details. We hope to see you there! Mike and Evie Reinsel Ed and Laurie Barr

Three Covered Bridges July 15 - START LOCATION CHANGE!!!
8
Hello Tandem Riders, The Three Covered Bridges ride for Saturday July 15 at 9 AM is still on. However I've received a request from BBC to modify the route to remove the potentially dangerous crossings of US 15. Therefore I have CHANGED THE RIDE START LOCATION TO UTICA PARK (which has restrooms): https://www.google.com/maps/place/Utica+Park/@39.521394,-77.402111,14z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x89c9c5bdfa0ca727:0xfed71c402fe33ddc!8m2!3d39.5137421!4d-77.4017286!16s%2Fg%2F1td3sgld?hl=en-US&entry=ttu The 2nd change is that we will be using this RWGPS route. This route is 40 miles and has 1600 ft of climbing, but there is also a shortcut that will knock off 10 or so miles. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/43631388 This route passes through Emmitsburg, where drinks and snacks are available, and Mt St. Mary's University. We will use the tunnel under US 15 at Mt. St. Mary's to avoid crossing the highway. We also pass near Thurmont, where a detour can be made for food or drinks. We hope to see you Saturday! - Dave & Julie Harper 571-436-2286 703-608-8416

The terrain is rolling and near perfect for tandems, with approximately 1800 ft of elevation change over 39 miles. There are several parks along the route where we will regroup and take rest breaks. There are at least three restrooms along the route, and we plan to stop at the High's convenience store in Thurmont. There are no restrooms at the ride start. Suggest using the restrooms at the Weis Grocery Store about 1 mile away.
