Three Covered Bridges July 15 - START LOCATION CHANGE!!!
Hello Tandem Riders,
The Three Covered Bridges ride for Saturday July 15 at 9 AM is still on. However I've received a request from BBC to modify the route to remove the potentially dangerous crossings of US 15. Therefore I have CHANGED THE RIDE START LOCATION TO UTICA PARK (which has restrooms): The 2nd change is that we will be using this RWGPS route. This route is 40 miles and has 1600 ft of climbing, but there is also a shortcut that will knock off 10 or so miles. This route passes through Emmitsburg, where drinks and snacks are available, and Mt St. Mary's University. We will use the tunnel under US 15 at Mt. St. Mary's to avoid crossing the highway. We also pass near Thurmont, where a detour can be made for food or drinks. We hope to see you Saturday! - Dave & Julie Harper ?? 571-436-2286 ?? 703-608-8416 |
Hi All,
|
Hi All, Hank and I had hoped to be in the area and able to ride with everyone, but had a recent addition to the family, Cadence the pup, that has kept us at home. We hope everyone is having a wonderful summer and getting lots of riding in. We look forward to seeing many of you in Fayetteville in September for the Fayetteville Tandem Rally the riding is great, the scenery absolutely beautiful and the fall weather in NWA is refreshing.? You can make a week or two vacation of it because there is so much to do between the arts, theatre, museums, restaurants, live music venues, and outdoor activities (hiking, kayaking, parks, birdwatching).?? The Saturday before on September 23rd in Little Rock, AR is the Big Dam Bridge ride which is a fabulous event. ? The Saturday after October 7th in Bentonville, AR is Square 2 Square Fall ride. WAIT no Longer register for Fayetteville Tandem Rally!!! We have a great weekend planned for the Fayetteville Tandem Rally with scenic routes, fun activities, great camaraderie with like-minded-folks, delicious food and plenty of adult watering holes along the way.? For those who have expressed concern with the amount of climbing, no need to worry our medium routes have less than 1,400 ft of elevation gain.? We are staying in the river valleys with views of the Ozarks surrounding us.? But for those looking for a challenge we are happy to accommodate you with a few climbs.?? Check out our website with the details and registration, but we have a few surprises up our sleeve for you, too! The community of Fayetteville is excited to welcome the tandems to town!??See the local visitor center write-up on Experience Fayetteville.? We know all will have a wonderful ride this Saturday with Dave and Julie!? We will miss ya'll! Roxanne and Hank Theiss r28moody@...

Phil, No I¡¯m not providing a cue sheet for the shortcut; but it¡¯s very visible on the RWGPS map, and I¡¯ll discuss it before the start. It would knock off 12 or so miles. I will also direct anyone interested to the shortcut when we get to the decision point. Hopefully it won¡¯t be too hot. - Dave?
