ATU-10 source 5
Anyone aware of a good ATU-10 source to purchase? I want to be sure it is the small one with internal battery. I would buy the kit preferably, but if no kit is available, then I would go for the assembled version. I just want to make sure it is a good source with the correct parts or build and tested. -- . 73 - Bill KA0B .

ATU-10 from China not charging... 3
Hello All, I have a ATU-10 that was pruchased on Aliexpress. But when I got it the unit would not start or charge. When i disconnect the batteries and have the USB connected all works fine. Just as a side note the seller on Aliexpress did send me a new unit that worked fine. But I would like to fix the 1st unit as i am sure it is something simple. Any ideas on what i should be checking etc? Any help is much appreciated. Regards, Robert.

ATU-1000 Reprogramming 8
Can someone tell me if the ATU-1000 has to be reprogrammed after it is received? Does it come with ATU-100 software that requires changes? I am confused about the changes that may have to done so it will operate properly at 1000 watts. 73, Bill KO4NR

ATU-1000 4
Are the ATU-1000 kit PCBs being offered based on the EU2AV design? I need a remote 1KW tuner and thought a ATU-1000 kit may be a solution. I have two ATU-100 N7DDC tuners that work great in Automode. Thought I would buy a Pickit 5 since it is the latest offering. Have never programmed an IC before but eager to learn. 73, Bill KO4NR

Fast test
I tried fast test, it showed me fast test on the display and that's it (they hooked up all the relays), should it have displayed something else? I tried the buttons and nothing happened

Cell 04 (EEPRON) value to set the threshold settings in automatic mode 9
Hello everyone, Hello Dave, I've been using a ATU1000 Kit, version by EU2AV (https://www.ur4unr.com/2021/10/15/atu-1-5kw-n7ddc-mode-by-eu2av/), with it has a very good HW solution, using on board for the CPU and another for RF parts with robust Inductors, capacitors, relays and relay drivers transistors. The unit is on the top of my building on a IP66 container and on automatic mode. It works very well for 95 % of the time on my multiband non-resonant G5RV antenna version. On the most of the bands it achieves an SWR around 1.5:1, and it is quite stable. But, on 40 m though it always reaches a 1:1 SWR ratio., and only on that band it suddenly starts an automatic tuning with no apparent reason. . I suppose that any minor change on antenna geometry triggers the tuning process. That is quite annoying. (BTW: the unit is 10 floors above my apartment shack without any possible remote control). *The cell 04 (EEPRON) value to set the threshold settings in automatic mode is 13 I visualize two possible solutions: 1. Increase cell 4 value to 25, so the unit will be last sensitive to minor SWR changes 2. Implement a simple tone remote command (contact closure) to set auto to "off" after successful tuning and back to "on" to force the tuning start on a new band or high SWR situation. I need help to decide the best solution and (or) the recommended cell 4 value to avoid the above-mentioned behavior. Best Regards, Paulo Bastos - PY1JDX

Disable Autotune 4
Is there a way to disable autotune such that it can NEVER be accidentally enabled. Or, to put it another way, Can the ATU100 be configured to ONLY manually start tuning. I have a remotely sited ATU100 that autotunes at 10w to get a good match but when power is increased to 50w it decides that its going to autotune again and again... most annoying. on another topic, what alternative software is available for the ATU-100 board ? Perhaps there is a version that better fits my requirements... thanks, Mike

Always tune till find certain threshold? 7
Hello, Is there a way to force the tuning cycle to tune untill a certain threshold? 04 cell - I have read that its incremental to current SWR status, is this correct? Cheers and thanks in advance.

ATU-1000 SWR reading is wrong in 20m band 3
Hello team, While comparing the 20m band SWR with nanoVNA, I find some discrepancies: ATU-1000 1.45:1 NanoVNA: 1.2:1 Other bands ATU-1000 SWR are lower than 1.3:1. What would be the first troubleshooting step? Cheers!

ATU-1000 SWR Bridge adjustment question 7
Hi all. I Have purchased a ATU-1000 kit. Does anyone know or have a good source where i can find instructions how to adjust/calibrate the swr bridge with the 2 potentiometers? 73 Bj?rn de PD5DJ Op wo 15 jun. 2022 12:13 schreef ZAO via groups.io <zao@...>: Dear Glenn, The longest keypress brings it into a power-down mode, the unit does not react on anything but the next longest keypress. No RF-power will wake it up from there. It is only the 30-minutes iddling time, when just the OLED is off, that the unit keeps monitoring the RF-power and may re-tune if necessary. Any keypress or RF-conditions change resets this 30-minutes timer anew. Warm regards, Tony

Bypass for ATU-100 with only one button? 10
Greetings all. I have a question, about an ATU-100 (pre-built Chinese version... I had to solder on new SO-239s, the ones it came with were horrible): This version of the hardware only has one button connected, which is labeled "TUNE". It works for the TUNE and RESET functions, with long and short press. I'm testing it on both a G90 and an FTDX10, both of which have internal tuners (the G90's internal tuner seems to work quite well, but the FTDX10's internal tuner won't tune up on anything higher than 20m for me.) On the FTDX10, I really only want to use this for rare occasions when I need 17m,15m,12m, or 10m. For 80m/40m/30m/20m, the internal tuner works fine. However, this tuner has no "Bypass" button. Should I disconnect this little tuner when I'm not using it? Or do these types fallback into a bypass mode when powered off? Thanks for any tips or info. 73, Joe KF7MIX

How to adjust SWR? #badwattmeter #1KW #1kwatu-1000
Hello everyone, I have successfully (well sort of) completed the ATU-1000 kit. However, while trying to tune the SWR via the potentiometer, when swapping the connectors, I have no power readout. I have made some troubleshooting, by disconnecting the dummy load and playing with the potentiometer, in auto mode the tuner starts a tunning cycle with high SWR... But, how to proper adjust? Cheers and thanks in advance.

51% vs 78& 7
Hello, I use an ATU to be able to tune my 14Mhz antenna in 21 Mhz.Am a problem with the tune on 21mhz I get 51% but if I use 10min the 14mhz band with ATU in baypass and I come back on 21mhz I get 78% and the output power changes accordinglyr (I did Test Mode and the relays work) it's not the heating problem, and with it hot (working well) if I disconnect U and restart it goes back to 51%?

--Massive thankyou for this project 3
Good Afternoon David. N7DDC My name is David also G4RVH. I thank you for this very clever project and the help I've received from this forum. Well done David. I did build the Picatune years ago but personally prefer your software. 42 years ago my Mate Brian G6NRA and myself had passed the RAE exams in 1982 so of course I couldn't afford to go out and buy anything except buy enough components to build a CW transmitter and my first Superhetradyn 40 meter receiver so had to null the receiver with the 7mhz transmitter to be on frequency to work a station. A long story short. Brian being single went straight out and bought the Flagship transceiver which then was the Trio 930s 100 watts out and all bands SSB & CW. But he didn't stop there as he also purchased the SG230 Auto Tuning Unit as well. Anyhow I was on First Shift and he rang me to go round to Kells on my way home as he had no confidence to do anything with these 2 units at all. So went to his house after work and connected his Trio 930s up the SG230 and on the White Ceramic Terminal Post connected a piece of wire about 30 foot long and clipped it with a washing peg to his mother washing line in the garden. I also cut about 15 foot of wire and just literally threw it onto the ground in his Kitchen and connected it to the Earth Post on the SG230. I rang my Dad in Milton-Keynes Village 300 miles away to come onto the air with his Trio 520. I did a quick tune and within seconds about 1:5 match and called my dad's callsign G4VVH and he came right back and said your a very strong signal son ur 59 and he was the same with me 59 both ways. We carried on talking for about 30 minutes. We both stood back and were totally amazed. Moving on. So this afternoon I decided to do the exact same with my newly built ATU-100. I just run enough wire to go from the shack to the light in the back garden about 30 foot to the RF Out Berrillium Copper post and then cut a random length of about 15 to 20 foot and connected that to my Berrillium Copper Earth Post and laid on the shack floor. Then connected the output from my HF RF amp on the WSPR System and toggled my Attenuator switch to give a quick burst of 15 watts to tune up the ATU-100 and literally within seconds all matched just the same as the SG230 had done all of those years ago. So personally I am in total AWE WOW What a brilliant piece of equipment to have. So pleased. 3 photos attached 73s David G4RVH

Still going round in circles
Hi David G8PTN UPDATE on Progress. 99% sure that the problem has now been sorted. I had DEAD SHORT across the INPUT BNC Socket and that's obviously why I had to swop over the leads. And that is why I was getting 10% REFLECTED Power reading. What a Swine to get that Dead Short off because I've used SMA sockets on the PCB Board and SMA Plugs and Sockets on the back panel mounted on a Right Angled piece of PCB Double Sided Board so had to work away with the back panel off the box with a dremel tool to burr off the short. I would never have believed my mistake. So took off those Stockton Bridge Resistors and replaced them with 50 ohms ones which I checked before fitting them. Measured in circuit on the board with the transformer they both measure 1.7 ohms. Anyhow then put 10 watts into what I thought was the Input of the ATU and a 50 watts 50 ohms Narda dummy load on the Output, absolutely nothing. BUT I changed the leads over and the results shown below so yet again totally confused except at Least the relays were chattering. So what is going on God knows. At the end of the day this was just a fun project. It's obviously very close to working properly but something simple now but haven't a clue where to stab. It's an interesting fault. One would think that the Dummy Load wasn't connected to the ATU so will check everything out of course when time on my side. I spend alot more time with my XYL now as she has MS. 73s David G4RVH

Relay S8 More HELP needed 26
Hi David. So today finally got round to applying RF into the input and a 50 watts Dummy Load on the Ant Output. With 10 watts out of my known transceiver absolutely Zilch nothing and no relays chattering as there should be. So done some continuity checked all of the input through the transformer to the L1 infact right through all of the coils and continuity right through. Also checked continuity through from Ant Output to the diodes and again ok. So I am totally baffled again. Could you throw any light onto the problem as I don't know what to do next. I wound 10 turns on one side of the Balun and 10 turns on the other side. Started the windings at the bottom with thin PTFE wire. And One covered PTFE wire through the middle once and terminated at each side. Cannot see what I could do wrong there. Maybe you have a quick test to check all is well BUT clearly is not. I've also checked the polarity of the diodes and checked they are working. WHEN I check from input to Output I get a short because of the transformer windings and imagine you obviously get the same. I was waiting for all of the relays to start singing to me but not a thing. 73s David G4RVH

Relay S8 News 8
Hi Dave G8PTN. So this morning took the driver Mosfet off the board that drives S8 Relay. Replaced the Fet and in Test Mode all working as it should switching between the Capacitor bank and the Inductor bank. And of course S8 switching correctly. So I am finally down to the last phase of testing the Bridge out. Have you a very easy way to test the whole unit out rather than squirt 10 watts of RF into the input. I've also checked all of the relays switching over and all ok. All the Outputs on the 16F1938 are short circuit protected apparently so been very lucky. 73s Dave G4RVH
