my atu-100 display quit,the tunnwer seemed to still operate tho,i pulled it apart thinking it was just the oled was dead,upon investigation there was a 470pf cap fried,also i tried a new oled,no joy still no display,on further investigation the 7805 reg is outputting 12v so looks like its shorted,would the cap going bad cause this?.,ie high rf?.

Hey guys, I have a ATU-100 EXT tuner. For it to work automatically it needs to be in SWR=TUNE? Or do I need to press the TUNE button whenever i change frequency? I have 3 buttong on the front of the tuner: TUNE AUTO BYP Just trying to figure out what does what

Hello, This has probably been answered before, but I am a bit late in the game with this project. Does the tuner take the LC values on screen from script by doing the math by looking at the fixed values of the inductors and capacitors while they are being switched? If not, is the script getting the screen information by looking at the values as if it were a LCR meter? Hopefully the latter. If the information is of a LCR meter type then I have some other ideas for this project that I would like to try out. Thanks...

Is there any reason I could not install a small DPDT manual switch (push button perhaps) to simply move the in/out jack connections from normal to shorted? I this is an acceptable, old school, solution, it brings up HF RF Switch requirements. Are there any special switch specs to adhere to? Any one have a part number/source for a simple small DPDT PB switch I could add to the unit? Thank you Bill, WA2WIO

hi, i am finish to build my ATU 100 kit,, my antenna is a inv V dipole, tuned at 7100 khz. i can reach 1:1 in the 60 meter band, but cant reach SWR low than 7:1 in 20 meter band. i check continuity in various points, i try fast test and full test. i check the relays have continuity to capacitors and toroids, i check the relays have power. i understand that my antenna has 9 SWR in 14 mhz, maybe this SWR is too high to be matched? thanks for read 73 de CE2PEY

hi. short story i mess the provided wire for binocular winding in my kit and only can build one side of binocular with this wire, i have a similar diameter wire and wind the other side, so my question is, is important wind both sides with same gauge of wire or if i keep the ratio 10:1 this thing no matters?. i must wind both sides with the same wire? 73 de CE2PEY

Recommendations for an inexpensive broad band HF RF 0-30mhz RF Noise sniffer (no kits). May be a spectrum analyzer? NanoVNA? TinySA? Will be used to chase down RF noise. TNX Bill, WA2WIO

To make sure I am winding correctly I am trying to measure the toroids with. a B&K 880 One confusing point is called for inductance is 0.45uH for L4. But multiple the calculators call for 9 turns. 8 turns is 0.36uH. Second confusing point is the meter does not want to measure it. getting -1.??? H. with alligator or kelvin. I calibrate before using either lead. I have known good inductors. 1Uh and above, and they test correctly. Am I over thinking this? yeah probably, Just wind and go, just trust the instructions?

Is there a place in the .hex firmware file to change how long you need to hold the tune button in order to turn the ATU-10 on or off? I would like to be more like 1 sec vs. 3 sec. If not, can this be added in a future release? Like the abilities that were added to v. 1.6. Thx, Randy, N4OPI

I installed a new 40m dipole and want to tune it. Need to measure and chart the SWR curve. Can I use the ATU10 SWR feature with the tuner in a bi-pass mode? How would I go about this? Thank you, Best regards; Bill Siegel WA2WIO sla@...

I have a new ATU-10 that mostly works great, but the static pixels, those that aren't updated on each transmission, randomly turn on over a period of time. I considered RF in the box and made sure I had a good ground, no joy. So I modified the firmware file to never turn off or sleep and left it on with no transmissions. Still have random pixels turning on. It will also on occasion lock up where it won't display the power during transmission or initiate a new tune cycle when needed. The fix is to power it down and back up. It has happened on both v. 1.5 and 1.6. Going to try 1.4 next. Has anyone else run into either of these problems and found a solution? Thanks, Randy, N4OPI

My ATU-100 has all of a sudden turned into a noise generator. It's spewing noise across the entire 3 MHz. to 55 MHz. spectrum so far as I can see by looking at the waterfall on my IC705. It's not the same level everywhere but seems to increase from the lowest level on 80 m. to the highest on 6 m. On 80 m. the noise is maybe 10 dB. above the system noise floor and on 6 m. it's in excess of 30 dB. above. What I mean by system noise floor is the observed noise level with the ATU-100 connected but with power switched off. When I switch the power on, only on its internal battery and no external connection on the USB, the noise jumps up like crazy. I don't remember this being the case when I received the unit new, but it went through a strange tuning attempt once on 6 metres and after that this noise has appeared. I lifted the top cover off the have a look around but didn't see anything burned or otherwise obvious. There has never been any RF in excess of 100 W applied to the unit. Apart from this noise, the unit appears to function OK, it will tune as well I'd expect both in auto and manual tune modes. Anybody else with this problem? Any ideas where to look and/or known fixes?
