My ATU-100 has all of a sudden turned into a noise generator.? It's spewing noise across the entire 3 MHz. to 55 MHz. spectrum so far as I can see by looking at the waterfall on my IC705.? It's not the same level everywhere but seems to increase from the lowest level on 80 m. to the highest on 6 m.? On 80 m. the noise is maybe 10 dB. above the system noise floor and on 6 m. it's in excess of 30 dB. above.? What I mean by system noise floor is the observed noise level with the ATU-100 connected but with power switched off.? When I switch the power on, only on its internal battery and no external connection on the USB, the noise jumps up like crazy.

I don't remember this being the case when I received the unit new, but it went through a strange tuning attempt once on 6 metres and after that this noise has appeared.? I lifted the top cover off the have a look around but didn't see anything burned or otherwise obvious.? There has never been any RF in excess of 100 W applied to the unit.

Apart from this noise, the unit appears to function OK, it will tune as well I'd expect both in auto and manual tune modes.

Anybody else with this problem?? Any ideas where to look and/or known fixes?
