I'm the one having trouble with APRSIS and the KAM-XL.
This morning I used PuTTY to change the KAM-XL to KISS Mode.? The command was INTFACE KISS.

You could post the APRS log activity for additional help.
As Lynn states, most often it is the TNC not being in KISS mode (usually says something like leading <C0> missing.I am not sure what TNC mode

The easiest way is to lock the KAM XL into KISS mode such that it is in that mode on power-up. ? Then use a Simply(KISS) type port in APRSIS32.

APRSIS32 uses the Windows font and color selections.? They are not configurable in APRSIS32.
APRSIS32 also doesn't make any direct sounds, but uses the Win32 MessageBeep API

Now that you're running the newest version, see Configure / Messages / RetrySet or the new RetrySet menu option on the Chat dialog.?? Make sure you select VARA-HF which slows down the message
