Office open for business almost as usual
Following the funeral of our late friend and group owner for his wonderful creation APRSISCE32, As far as I am aware and I have not been informed otherwise everything went as planned.
Although Lynn's Son Paul was in touch almost up to the last moment, cummunications were brief.?
Lynn Deffenbaughs aprsisce program got a good work out, As wx conditions were favorable for a fleet of space shuttle's I had hoped to have all five in missing man formation as I did for Roger Barker (G4IDE SK) author of UIView32.
Unfortunately, and this is a memory issue for me, I had not thought to practice in advance because I always found it easy to do, I left this until I thought the appropriate moment, as I hit the launch button a shooting star crossed the map at his late fathers place of rest.
Bingo! lift off was accomplished, My screw up was using a button in Icons that displays multiple Icons saving lots of hard work,(But unfamiliar with how it actually worked!) anyone who saw this on their map was done with the kind permission of Paul Deffenbaugh KJ4DXK.

I have asked Paul privately to take the time to grieve and not show up for work on this group, from personal experience ...time is a great healer!
I for one have been hit hard and I am sure I am far from being alone at this time, I am not a very religeous chap but I do understand the comfort a service brings to one and all, and I confess that at the time the Repose commenced the cloud of doom in my head started to lift.

I as I have said before make no apology for these lengthy posts, but from today they will cease.

Dexter, as you are using aprsisce you are always entitled to ask a question especially if you think there is a connection issue to the program and/or any equipment used in conjunction with aprsisce, In the first instance when I read through your post I failed to read the last line of your post and that is MY fault and certainly not yours, I would have known instantly as the former operator of busy Igates in 2 States in the USA I had also seen a similar issue in the past.
For others reading this post just a little background about myself,
I am not the most technical person in the World and KJ4ERJ SK I think understood when I offered to admin in his passcode service that its something I have done for more than 20 years for two different giants in the World of APRS. Formerly Roger Barker G4IDE of UiView32 fame who I both beta tested his program for several years before learning he had just Months to live from cancer, his passcode and registration service for UiView 32 dried up instantly and I knew him well enough to ask him through an immediate family member if I could run it for him until further help came along from a great bunch of fellow hams and friends that stepped forward to continue help and support. For quite a few months and on my own I ran the passcode and registration service and his program was a paid for service so this was converted to a Free but please donate to any cancer charity that you would care for, he agreed to that format and I with help carried that on until UiView registration became automated.
I joined up with KJ4ERJ SK at about this time and around almost a decade ago now gave up entirely to help Lynn until the present date and hopefully until I too go to meet my friends who are SK in heaven or wherever APRS actually takes us!
I have used the aprs?written by the Sproul brothers, UiView32 and latterly? APRSISCE32 and as my active radio days have gone I only used a pc copy of Lynns wonderful creation and have never used it connected to any form of RF.
I have operated Igates using a VX5r, Kenwoods D700 and D710 and an Icom 706Mk?II G both mobile and at the qth.
As I have mostly stayed very quiet on this reflector, the admin side along with my many other hobbies including aviation, SatComs for marine messaging keep me very busy and WX reporting keep me far from getting bored, I have "eyes on the glass" for passcodes far too? long in a regular day as sleep eludes me.
I don't want our new group owner to read the last part or he will expect more for even less (hi hi)

Sorry Dexter but I am not familiar with any of that equipment, the droid element proves part of it is working. If you have made no changes to radio the program and other hooked up equipment, apart from a reboot of the equipment check the hook ups are ok and if you have any spares swap them out, Windows has been issuing?some dodgy updates lately in both Win 11 and win 10 and I had to use the roll back to a previous time to get one of my programs?working again, mainly a USB issue
Try that and hopefully Rob KB8RCO who will no doubt read this later may offer better help, if it turns out to be my suggestion take the knobs of your laptop and put a lock on Windows updates, check the update history and see if one was new at the start of this

I am running an IGATE on the above equipment and am having some issues with the IGATE not passing messages to RF.?
For instance; I use my FT5D to send a message to my buddy that also use a FTM500 but the message stays on the IGATE same thing happens when he sends to me, both of us are always in range of the IGATE, but if I send from radio to someone using APRSDROID the messages reaches them and I get replies from them, the messages just won't go from radio to radio, could I be missing something, anyone has a fix for this and willing to share I certainly will appreciate it.?

Lynn's son Paul has stressed no gift is too small? and I wholeheartedly agree! There are any number of options to choose from including custom and I know this means a lot to the Deffenbaugh family. I am out of Country and it is entirely possible the first link may have had an international connection link issue!
Lynn often said to me that most problems are between the keyboard and the users head, I have been fighting the worst cold in 5 years, and as I cannot enjoy any alcohol without serious side effects to my medication, my cold medicine may be causing red flag side effects or and my pc has got a virus, either way one or both need fixing!
I will repost the donation request each day until after Wednesday, my new boss fav day I hope he tries to let us do what we can to help, and I can say privately that the words Paul has said about the comfort the groups members have expressed is truly well received

Sorry Dexter but I am not familiar with any of that equipment, the droid element proves part of it is working. If you have made no changes to radio the program and other hooked up equipment, apart from a reboot of the equipment check the hook ups are ok and if you have any spares swap them out, Windows has been issuing?some dodgy updates lately in both Win 11 and win 10 and I had to use the roll back to a previous time to get one of my programs?working again, mainly a USB issue
Try that and hopefully Rob KB8RCO who will no doubt read this later may offer better help, if it turns out to be my suggestion take the knobs of your laptop and put a lock on Windows updates, check the update history and see if one was new at the start of this

I am running an IGATE on the above equipment and am having some issues with the IGATE not passing messages to RF.?
For instance; I use my FT5D to send a message to my buddy that also use a FTM500 but the message stays on the IGATE same thing happens when he sends to me, both of us are always in range of the IGATE, but if I send from radio to someone using APRSDROID the messages reaches them and I get replies from them, the messages just won't go from radio to radio, could I be missing something, anyone has a fix for this and willing to share I certainly will appreciate it.?

Thanks for that advice Adam, KC2ANT, I have seen you offer good sound advice many times in this and other reflectors, thank-you for the timely pick up too, I know especially at weekends how busy everyone is this time of year.

I believe that you got the Why message on the APRS forum. If you take a look at this link it will help you figure out how to make APRSISCE a digipeater. Reach out if you need more assistance
Editing the XML must be done with the application Closed or it will not take effect as closing the application overwrites the xml file with those settings.
My home iGate/Digi is set up as a WIDE1-1 Digi and works for digi, and message traffic as I believe you are attempting to accomplish.

Steve,
On the APRS group it was discussed that because they are both local RF for his IGate that it won't send the message back out from IS because it sees both are local RF. So I believe he simply needs to become a WIDE1-1 Digi and it will resolve the issue.
