Messaging Issues With VARA

All:?

I've noticed that APRSIS32 transmits twice (instead of once) when sending a message or replying to one. The 2nd transmission takes place immediately after the first and it only happens when using the Vara HF modem. Robust Packet (WinRPR) and UZ7HO don't seem to have this issue.?

Any ideas??

This is APRSIS32's list, basically just the list from page 63 aprs101.pdf.

} WeatherUnits[] = { {"DsVP","Davis Vantage Pro"},	/* K0GDI */
					{"Dvs","Davis"},
					{"HKT","Heathkit"},
					{"PIC","PIC device"},
					{"RSW","Radio Shack"},
					{"U2kr","Remote Ultimeter logger"},
					{"Upkm","Remote Ultimeter packet mode"},
					{"U-II","Original Ultimeter U-II (auto mode)"},
					{"U2R","Original Ultimeter U-II (remote mode)"},
					{"U2k","Ultimeter 500/2000"},
					{"U5","Ultimeter 500"} };

I don't know of any official additions to this list, but the spec does say:

Users may specify any other 2–4 character code for devices not in this list.
But of course, any additional codes would not have a human readable expansion.

Maybe a job for the upcoming APRS Foundation?

Thank you Lynn,

If I enable Packets in View Logs instead of Port (TNC) then I can see what I was asking (human read frames)

Enable the Transmit trace log and it will show the humanly readable packets as well as whether they are destined for IS, RF, or both (or even Internal).

Enables / Ports / Log All will also cause APRSIS32 to produce *.PKT files that contain all? RF handled packets, both transmit and receive, IIRC.?? Don't have time right now to double-check that in the source.

So please at least do this or put it in your TODO list!

Yes, the GP-* objects are all coming from a single instance of APRSIS32.? ?I also transmit a repeater object, 146.850-P (https://aprs.fi/146.850-P), for our local club repeater.? You create these like any other object in APRSIS32, and the key is what you put in the Cmnt string.

A callsign-SSID and/or screen shot goes a long way in helping me look at the details of what you are asking.

Hi Lynn, I was looking at my weather station I transmit, and in the info box when clicked upon it give the detailed info. Ie temp,? wind, rain etc. It also shows a unit field as well. I was guessing this was to define what weather station you are using, but after playing a bit with cumulus changing the comment to Davis Vantage Vue then over to Dvs as recommended in the 101 file, it still says Unit: UnknownP(Dvs).?

Any assistance you can provide??
