funds to cover the migration to groups.io
We have received enough funds to
cover the moving of the 4x6bandsaw group and havepaid the
Premium Membershipstarted the transfer process. fortunately
we managed to get the jump on the price increase and got in at
the old rates.
Members should receive a notice
from groups.io once the transfer is completed.
This should take you to a
listing of all your groups.
this will take you to the 4x6
Again thanks for your support in making this possible to
preserve the wealth of information that the groups have

Dave,
true.? AFAIK, the answer of "what will be left?" is a basic email list
without archiving or retrieval of past messages.? But I would not be
surprised if yahoo drops that too in the future.
I've heard about a utility that allows one to download all the files, etc.
(reference below) I will try it but I do not have any facility to host it.
Besides on a simple email list, we could not associate the archive with the
list so that people could find it.? The utility is probably best used by
someone who wants the entire archive for their personal use.

If you want to backup the

It has a 14 day free trial

I, for one, am thankful that Yahoo provided groups for as long as
they have (over 20 years), free of charge.? AFAIK, Yahoo made no
revenue from those of us who just received message via email.? I
am amazed that they continued it as long as they did.
Yes, I know it was sometimes flaky and support was little to
none, we got every cent that we paid for.

In yahoo, you could have a photo in the files
section, with groups.io it cannot be a photo, so had to switch jpg and png files
to pdf's

Not sure if groups.io does that when they convert

If you want Groups.io to transfer everything automatically, including
subscribers, that's what you are paying for; in which case there is no
need for you to bother with moving files, etc. They do it all.
If
you intend to copy everything from the old group yourself and inform the

Re: Oil way or grease nipples in main pivot area?
If need be, it should be easy enough to replace.
I imagine a piece of 4140/4142 Q&T TG&P would do it, and certainly be better than what the saw came with.
May not be necessary.
?
You may want to think about building or buying a hydraulic feed control cylinder.
It’s one of the reasons I bought the saw I did. It came equipped with one.
A must for cutting thin tubing & things. Great for getting cuts started too.
Would also prevent an accidental drop.

Thanks for your reply Bill. Mine feels tight however there is noticeable wear on the pivot shaft, I haven't measured it but I can feel the change with my fingernail. My concern regarding load on the lobes is more when the thing flips up
or falls over for some reason, my motor is beat up from the last owner having problems with this, hopefully my new stand will prevent these problems but I like to be prepared.
I'll leave it and just oil in the holes for now, put it together last night, nice and smooth now.
Thanks again.

Re: funding 4x6bandsaw mailing list on groups.io
Sorry we will need to pursue the current course of funds collection. Got a reply this morning, " Due to the high volume of support requests right now (aka we're a bit overwhelmed!), we're unfortunately unable to provide a specific answer to your question." I will keep the idea in mind and follow up again next year when things quiet down from the Yahoo evacuation.

Re: Oil way or grease nipples in main pivot area?
My Grizz saw is somewhere around 12 or 15 years old.
I have not so much as sprayed WD40 on the pivot, and it’s still as tight as it was.
I do a lot of cutting.
There is not a lot of load on that joint, by any stretch. Think about that.
Since you drilled holes already, it would be easy enough to just give each a shot of oil now & then.
Much like ways on a lathe or mill. ?
30wt motor oil, or any light oil really, would be fine.

Finally getting to reassemble my saw after John helped me mill the bed parallel to the pivot arm. Thought I would test out the capability of the new mailing list, I've attached a photo of the pivot ears on the base end with holes I've drilled
to help lubricate the pivot pin.
I was going to drill and tap to fit m6x1 grease nipples but a little concerned that will weaken the casting too much as the ears are only 15mm thick. Currently the holes are 3mm and was thinking of just leaving them as is and putting some slideway oil I have
in there (very sticky stuff) to lube the pin rather than put the grease nipples in.
Any thoughts from you on this, any one already put something in to lubricate the main pivot pin? My pin shows wear marks so while things are apart I would like to make sure it gets the lube it needs.
Thanks
Steve

Walter, PayPal would be easier for most of us!

Re: Moving Yahoo info to group.IO
?
Joe
?
Thanks for your input.?
?
?
Seems that groups.io is insisting on the groups
being premium members to do the transfer now which is a $110.00 hit for each
group.? You can downgrade after the first year.

Subject: [4x6bandsaw] Moving Yahoo info
to group.IO
First I am glad you decided to move your Yahoo Group over to
Groups.IO
You might already know the info I am going to post but just
in case you don't I figure I would post it. Worse comes to worse you can
delete this message if you already have done this listed below.
When I
moved about 30 groups over from Yahoo to Groups.IO I had Them move the info
from the old yahoo group to the new Groups.IO, they moved the members, files,
photos, databases etc.
Below is the email they sent me on how to have
them do it. But it has to be done before Yahoo deletes all your groups
info.
Also my Groups.IO groups are all FREE. They are the FREE version.
I believe it has about 1GB storage. The good part is you can create SUB Groups
for free as well with that 1GB storage for free.
Here is the info they
sent to me
below
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello,
By
inviting?[email protected]?to
join your group?wheelhorsetractormanuals@...,
you have taken the first step towards transfering your group to Groups.io.
IMPORTANT:?Yahoo
Groups has been very unreliable lately. We will do our very best, but there is
a good chance that we may not be able to transfer all of your messages, photos
or files. We will tell you which ones we were not able to transfer.
Here
is what you need to do next:
- Make?[email protected]?a
moderator of your Yahoo group. Uncheck all moderator privileges.
- Send an email
to?[email protected]?saying
that you are ready to transfer your group. Make sure you include the names
of both your old Yahoo Group and new Groups.io group in your email. The
email should be sent from the same address as the owner of your Groups.io
group.
If
you have any questions, please contact?[email protected].
Cheers, The
Groups.io
Team
----------------------------------------------------
You
would just Substitute your groups yahoo name and your Groups.IO name in place
I know they are going to be busy with Yahoo deleting the info soon.
You can also download your Yahoo members list and invite them to this
group .
Just figure I would give some info since I went through it when
Yahoo groups first became unstable
Hope all goes well.
Joe
