Unusual Movikon-K 8

The Zeiss Ikon-K 8 was a pre-War Zeiss Ikon cine camera which used the Kodak 8mm film cartridge, introduced in 1939, it did, or at least I have never seen any written reference to it, reappear after the War. ?However curtersey of EBay I have acquired what externally looks like a normal Movikon-K 8 but has been very professionally modified to use 8mm film spools, not the Kodak cartridge, also there is a 'Zeiss Ikon Stuttgart Germany' decal on the interior cradle, in addition there is no camera body serial number. ?Because of the 'Stuttgart' marking I assume this is a post-War modification of a pre-War body. ?I have attached a couple of pictures that illustrates the camera. ?Any members of ZICG aware of this modification?
Regards
Simon Worsley?

ABOUT Yahoogroups

Yahoogroups is a free mailing list service. You can set your own email distribution list by going to or see information about the ZICG mailing list at

If you are a member of Yahoo AND you are a member of ZICG, you can view the archive of emails online as well as change your personal settings (such as digest mode etc). You may also view the subscription list.

ZICG used to be listed with Coollist. Poor reliability and even poorer customer service saw ZICG move in May 2000 to eGroups. William Lurie organised with nine other members to keep ZICG ad-free and paid eGroups a fee to drop all advertisements from emails. ZICG became ad-free from November 5, 2000. EGroups became a possession of Yahoo in December, 2000. Hence ZICG became a Yahoo group.

---
POSTING TO ZICG

The ZICG list was set up for people who want to discuss anything Zeiss. ZICG is a collection of Zeiss authorities and enthusiasts brought together through the medium of email to share knowledge as friends. Anybody can be a member and nobody has ever been banned.

You cannot send attachments. If you want to share a file, put it on a website and post the URL to the list. Remember that .vcf files (vcards) are classified as attachments. As a member, you can upload photos and files to the ZICG archives with Yahoo and then send notification to the list.

Please do not post HTML or specially formatted messages to the list. If you can, turn off these options on your email program. Some ZICG members cannot read your message if you send it in those formats.

Sale or Wanted adverts are acceptable on ZICG. All adverts must be about Zeiss equipment. You can post them at any time as a dealer or collector. Please do not abuse this policy, regulations will be set if members become dissatisfied with excessive sale/wanted adverts from the same individuals. It is acceptable to send an auction URL as long as it maintains a relevance to discussion on ZICG.

OFFICIAL ZICG WEB PAGE
The official ZICG web site is:

It was created by Thomas Myro. It is well out of date but has some archives from 1997 on it. Nobody has used the classified section for some time now. It is a private web page, not a collectively produced one.

Passwords are:
CONTAPROX for the archives.
PROXAR for the classifieds.

Both in uppercase letters.

WARNING: Thomas's web page has out of date subscription details, it still refers to the Coollist mailing list. That mailing list no longer exists. Please only ever refer to the Yahoo! web page for subscription information.

Sometime in the future it would be great to develop a website made up of contributions from all members of ZICG. This may be something that could be developed through Yahoo's service or via a member with web space to donate.

Contax I

Hi there,
I have a Contax I with a shutter problem (rare, doesn't it?). It is (more or less) working, but it seems about to dead soon.
May be any of you have a diagram that helps me to open the rear cover?
Thanks in advance!

Following?Willy Maes' thread: I am also trying to find hoods/sunshades, but for Contaflex TLR.

Although there are 3 types, I could only find 2 Bestellnummer,?1283/8 and?1283/9.

Re: Sun shade for Contaflex II

Dag Hans,
In the meantime I found a solution for my Contaflex II lens shade. I bought a 28,5mm push-on shade, which was marked Zeiss-Ikon Stuttgart and it fits ok. I saw the same shade on several illustrations of the Contaflex I and II. So I guess this was the standard sun shade for that lens.
Thanks anyway for your comment.
Willy Maes

Greetings from Canada Willy; I? have had great success from dealing with Yuri at fedka.com. H has some Zeiss gear and also an host of Russian made and compatible accessories. I have one of his lens hoods on my Contax cameras and am well pleased. Just a thought1 Regards. Ron Duke

Hi Willy,

Early Contaflex I and II did have female threads, somewhere Zeiss Ikon changed to the more normal variety.
When it happened you should ask Marc James Small, as he made a research when and where it changed.
And sorry, I haven't a fitting sunshde for you... (not spare in any case:-)

Thanks, Simon, I just changed the numbers on holoceen.nl. It should be visible next week (sunday). Life is so busy when you are retired (...) that I hardly can keep up with all the changes... and I check Yahoo once-a-month at the max.

Re: Zeiss Ikon Ikonta 521/2 Tessar 1:3,5 f=105mm

Ol¨¢ Luis

That's a great camera and it seems to be very well preserved. You need to test a roll to confirm that it is fully functional. If something is not worrking as it should, I can sugest a repairman ( in Lisbon) that ressuscitated my Ikonta 521 a few years ago.
Concerning the year we need to know the serial number of the camera.

Zeiss Ikon Ikonta 521/2 Tessar 1:3,5 f=105mm

Hi Everyone,

My name is Luis Ramos, I'm from Portugal and I recently found a Zeiss Ikon Ikonta 521/2 Tessar 1:3,5 f=105mm on my grandmother's house.

I would like to know more about it, the year that it was made, the quality of the machine, and of course, the possible current market value (if any).

I found this group on the web and it seemed the most appropriated place to search more information on this beautiful machine.

You can find some photos of it at my public dropbox:?

What's your opinion on this machine?

Regards,

Luis Ramos
