SO2R box utility bug

Hi
?
I am using the YCCC SO2R Box for audio? routing for my remote station.? Without contest software, just using the SO2R utility.? Turns out that choosing STEREO on the SO2R Box utility disconnects the device with message? "Device removed" and only walking over the the station and cycling the power will fix this.
?
Any ideas?
?
Thanks!

That fixed the issue. I wish I would have thought of that before bothering you.

Dennis- I got it working with the help from Paul.? He notice that I had the so2r box talking to itself and N1MM talking to itself.? I just had to change to com ports up so that they would talk to each other.? Now it works as it should.? Thanks for the help.? What you mentioned got me to thinking that maybe I had them setup wrong and Paul confirmed it.?

Re: LED's OK, but relays not switching mic, phones

If MAP1 and MAP2 are both mapped to radio 1 then the relays and audio would not switch and you would always hear radio 1.? I don't know how it got that way.

There have been a few reports over the years about problems that have been traced to the EEPROM becoming corrupt but there has not been enough information that I could track down a problem.

I'm powering the SO2R box from a big Astron supply that powers the whole station.? I try to remember to switch off the SO2R box before powering down the Astron, but sometimes I forget, and the DC does a slow fade. Maybe that's how the MAP2 setting got changed.? Perhaps I should power the SO2R box from a dedicated wall wart connected to firm power instead.

Re: LED's OK, but relays not switching mic, phones

The microphone has a relay.? The headphone switching is electronic so you won't hear any relays when it switches.

The easiest thing to try is to reset the EEPROM in the SO2R Box.? Run the SO2R Box Utility.? Click Connect (lower left) and then Reset (lower right).? This will set everything to the default values so you may need to change?the settings to match your station.

Hi Cezar,

It is possible but unlikely that this is caused by a problem with the firmware or EEPROM values in the microprocessor.? Run the SO2R Box Utility, press Connect to connect to the SO2R Box, and press Reset to reset the EEPROM.? You could also download the latest firmware and install it, which would overwrite any bad firmware in the microprocessor.

If you are able to switch the left side correctly then the microprocessor hardware and connections to the multiplex chip are almost certainly OK as the digital connections used are the same for both left and right channels.

There have been a few boards with bad solder connections on the corner pins of the surface mount ICs.? I suggest you listen to the box while pressing on the pins of the audio amplifier and multiplex chips with an insulated tool.? If that doesn't work the easiest way to test is to use an audio source.? There are not many parts in the signal path.? If you are lucky you will find a band solder joint.? If not, one of the ICs will need to be replaced.

You can contact me directly if you have additional questions.
