Re: Lightning strike
K0TF Yes, I have pre-programmed microprocessors but no transients.? You can easily obtain the transient suppressors from Mouser, Digikey, etc.? Its Mouser part number 576-PGB102ST23. I received $10 from you via Paypal- is that for a YCCC SO2R Box PIC? Re: Lightning strike
... well as it turned out suppressors are NOT available (replaced with?PGB1010603NR), but its the least of the problems presently. MAXIM?MAX4574 chip only available in SOIC28 package (some NOS in Israel). I am guessing the?MAX9722A which was available from Newark UK will be delivered in the same package. Hence question - any one knows the source in TSSOP packaging? Before I start slicing and dicing boards?

VLATCH command no longer working
Using N1MMLogger+ (latest version)
Could've sworn this was working in NAQP CW last weekend. Even reverted to previous version of N1MM logger and no dice. This is what I have in my F key: F9 V,{OTRSP VLATCHT}
It doesn't "seem" to be passed to the box.? Latch box remains checked (or unchecked) Manually checking/unchecking works, but that's a pita to do mid stream in a contest, so2r 2bsiq hi hi This has worked marvelously for years and now suddenly? Ideas? Tnx Mike VE9AA |
Re: VLATCH command no longer working
I have used this:
F11 VL, {OTRSP VLATCHT} for YEARS in So2R...always works 100% but now it doesn't seem to work.? Have mashed that button thousands of times but now no worky-worky.All other functions of N1MM and SO2R+ box seem to work. Have rebooted and restarted all software a few times. Even reverted back to Aug 3rd version of N1MM.? Still no go. Tried WAE contest, then DX logging, and then NAQP from last week. No go. If I manually open up the SO2R box software and check and/or uncheck the box it (headphone latching) works, course this is tough to do when you're running 2 radios.? Turning on verbose logging, it doesn't 'appear' the command is getting passed. Is something new blocking?some?OTRSP commands? How would I "see" that myself to confirm? I have done no windows updates (Win 7), and there's been no changes to any programs on the computer. Ideas? |
Re: VLATCH command no longer working
In the SO2R Box program, if you check Verbose SO2R at the bottom of the window, do the VLATCH commands show in the log window just above the Verbose boxes? ??? Paul, K1XM On Sat, Aug 14, 2021 at 11:49 AM VE9AA - Mike <ve9aa@...> wrote: I have used this: |

I am running 2 KB's and if I choose that function key on the other keyboard, I see something verbose the first time the button is pressed but have no way to interpret it.

Re: VLATCH command no longer working
The TX1 and TX2 commands change which radio will transmit.? The RX1, RX2, and RXS select which radio or radios you will hear in the headphones. If you are not seeing a VLATCHT command in the log then the logging program isn't sending it. ??? Paul On Sat, Aug 14, 2021 at 12:06 PM VE9AA - Mike <ve9aa@...> wrote:

Re: VLATCH command no longer working
It depends on what you are doing?? If you are changing which radio will transmit or which radio you will listen to then the logging program will send those commands.? If the logging program sends the VLATCHT command then you should see it too.? It appears that the logging program is not sending VLATCHT.? I don't know why - that might be a question better asked in the N1MM Logger group. ??? Re: VLATCH command no longer working
aha! I figured it out
?
There seems to be either a new setting or one I had never noticed before called
Toggle/Stereo OTRSP Macro and it affects the way latch works.
?
Whew !
?
Thought I was goin nuts there. (well, more so than usual.
?
After WAE I'll have to figure out if I always had that checked or if it was new.? If I always had it checked, I musta UNchecked it.
?
Thanks for the B/W

Re: VLATCH command no longer working
Paul,?
Something you said had me going to look for something like this very thing (I would've never known otherwise that such a thing existed) Thanks to you again.? Hope you are having fun.? Saw you spotted a couple times. -Mike Looks like it's been there a good long while and I've never used it.? Must've hit some keystrokes that I shouldn't have and I own this one. Whew.? I was really stumped and had no idea why my {OTRSP VALTCHT} command was not being passed to the YCCC SO2R+ box. Feel silly now, but hey...nobody's perfect, right?. Had to unplug for lightning just now? Fierce in the skies here.,. Have fun all and thanks to anyone who may have been looking at it. SO2R Box v.1.33
Hi All, I just put a new version of the software on the website.? The new feature is support for TCP/IP connections.? If your logging program supports OTRSP and WinKey over TCP you can connect that way.? It also means the logging program and SO2R Box program do not have to be on the same computer. This version was built with a newer version of the compiler and libraries.? I have not tested it on Windows 7 and I don't know if it will work there.? If someone has a Windows 7 system and wants to try it I would be interested in the results. ??? Paul, K1XM |

RFI Into Mic Line
Good Morning,
I just received/built a "Run 4" box. It seems to work fine until I transmit local SSB audio at any power level over 2W. From 2W up, what appears to be RF feedback into the mic line causes the transmitter to generate ugly noise at full amplitude. Classic RFI into the mic line, which I've struggled with in decades past. Is there an easy cure? I'm thinking of adding several pF on both ends of the mic audio line on the PC board (each DIN as well as the 3.5mm mic input). I'd appreciate anyone providing a startinig point. Notes: 1. Ferrites (lots of 'em) on the DIN cable have little or no effect. Maybe lets out another half watt. 2. The RX audio was oscillating upon first power up due to the floating ground on this Run 4 board. The ND2T jumper was added; problem sollved. (TU Tom). I don't think this has any influence on the mic line. 3. Mic is a Heil HC4. Rig is a K4. The 14 dB mic preamp is required for full output. RFI occurs without the preamp, but at a much higher power level, as you would expect. DIN cable to rig is CAT5, using a twisted pair for mic and mic ground. 4. I scraped the paint from the chassis inside at the ground lug mounting screw position. 5. In TX TEST mode (zero RF out), the mic line works fine. Mic directly into the K4 works fine at 1500W. Thanks for any assistance. CU on the air (?)! -- 73 de Bob, K6XX |
Re: RFI Into Mic Line
Hi Bob, What do you mean by a "Run 4 box"?? I have a K4 but I haven't done any SO2R phone operating with it. The SO2R Box microphone switching is very simple - there is a relay which connects both the mic hot and ground to the appropriate radio.? The mic ground is not grounded to the box or to the power supply minus.? There isn't a jumper but it would be pretty easy to add a wire which grounds it. I would try a wire or maybe a capacitor between the mic ground lead and the box ground.? If you do this you'll have to open the box - remember to remove the nut on the speed pot before you open it, otherwise you will break the pot. ??? Re: RFI Into Mic Line
Bob I think by "Run 4", you mean a YCCC box from the fourth run. The only thing I see that you didn't comment on was that paint needs to be scraped at two spots- one is the where the ground lug is, and the other is to make sure the board is grounded.? If? you look at the pc board, you will see that one of the mounting screw holes is connected to the board ground.? Where that screw and? spreader meet the chassis also needs the paint scraped.? I don't know that that would solve your problem, but it was in the construction documents. Dennis W1UE On Sun, Jul 17, 2022 at 8:48 PM Paul Young <k1xm@...> wrote:
