Re: PTT locking up

Paul;

This leads to a few questions - when is EEPROM written? Are there triggers, if so, what?

I have a specific sequence for powering off my station - Power off the K3s (both with KIO3As), then power off the supplies. I have two Astron 35A linear supplies, one for each K3 station, which includes KPA500 and KAT500, BPFs, etc. The supplies are wire-ORed using a 20A dual schottky diode device which allows for either supply to power the common devices. The output of this device feeds power to the SO2R+ box, Elecraft W2 Power/SWR box and a few other things. ?Since most things are powered down before the SO2R+ box, it makes sense that there is a very slow voltage decay.

I have had very few issues with the SO2R+ box for many years until just a few months ago, which is about the time I actually started using it in SO2R mode. The problem manifested itself as Mike describes, SO2R+ unit holding PTT low, but to just one radio. Using the SO2R+ utility to reset EEPROM fixed it both times it occurred. I changed my power-down process to switch off the SO2R+ box when I power off the K3s, and have not seen a recurrence since.

If you need some testing done, I am willing, but not until after CW WW.?

Thanks!
Jack, W6FB

N1MM configuration of SO2R with 2 Yaesu 101MP

I have difficulties with configuration of my SO2R station with 2 Yaesu 101MP radios and I am wondering if N1MM allows 2 radios with 2 receivers. Every time I try to sync the two receivers on one of the radios, both radios change to the same frequency, which becomes a conflict. I can set the configuration in DXLog to work but not in N1MM. If anybody could give me a hint I would appreciate.?

Thank you,?

Hi Paul,

All seems to be good.? I looks like the PSU went to protection / Vout goes to zero and would not recover unless the load was removed.
Very strange but this one was not a cheap switching PSU, rather a 317 or 7812 type for the regulation.

Thanks everybody?for the advice!

I'm not sure I understand.? What is activating PTT when you send the phone message?? It may be possible to add something to the SO2R Box program but I need to understand it better.? If it is mode specific that may be a problem because the SO2R Box doesn't know the mode.

Re: SO2R box utility bug

SO2R state 0x07 means that TX2 is selected, RX2 is selected, and Stereo is selected.? That is what you are setting so it is correct.

The only things I can think of are that the SO2R Box firmware is corrupt or that something is wrong with the computer.? I suggest you re-install the firmware on the SO2R Box.? You can do this with the utility.? If that doesn't work can you try it with another computer?

Did verbose
However the SW is not supporting copy/paste for this email.
Is there a log to send?
Click RX R2, TX R2.
Click Stereo
HOWever, I see that one OTHER SW on my setup sees a glitch with recovery for that HW and all is well afterwards.
This is a interface card by velleman.
Perhaps this is a particular local issue.

Is there a way to make sure the the HID devices for sure have different addrs/whatever??

I just tried the same steps and it worked with my SO2R Box.? I am running the same utility and firmware versions.

Could you click verbose Output on the SO2R Box Utility and then try those steps agan?? You can send the output directly to me rather than to the group.

Hi Paul,

Well this is what IT support should look?like ?:

I am using firmware 1.6.0 and the utility says version 1.8.0.

I just did the reset, it says
Device removed
Device attached
And when I click "connect" I get connected + SO2R box version 1.6.0.
I click on RX Radio 2
TX Radio 2
Then click Stereo.
I get Device removed.
Trying "connect" says Not Connected.
Turning the HW off allows me to get the Connected SO2RBox Version 2..6.-0.

I changed a bit of wiring such that my remote AC switch turns off ALSO this box, so I am OK for now.

Thanks!

I just tried this with an SO2R Box.? Clicking Stereo causes it to receive from both radios.? So I cannot reproduce this problem.

What version of the SO2R Box firmware are you using?

You might try resetting the SO2R Box to the default settings using the Reset button at the bottom right of the SO2R Box Utility window.

Another thing to try is using the SO2R Box program.? If you do not check the SO2R, Pipes, or TCP/IP boxes it will show a set of? check boxes which can be used to select the receiver and transmitter.? Does it work if you select Stereo this way?

PTT assertion

Paul,
?
Here is a situation that I just ran into and I am sure I am the only one with it.? Setup: TRLinux 0.49, SO2R Box +, K4D, using voice memories in K4D, foot switch connected to SO2R Box (PTT).
?
Works 100% on CW when using a foot switch/PTT to initiate memories? (foot switch can be selected in TRLinux to act as hitting F1, swapping radios, enter key, etc.).? But since the K4D stops the voice memory from playing when a PTT signal is seen using a foot switch won't start a voice memory? (because of the strobe PTT closure signal that is seen by the radio).? If I unplug the PTT line going to the radio it works fine.? I have been in contact with Tree and TVBob on this issue.? I believe it worked fine with a K3 but the addition of interrupting a vm with a closure from a foot switch on the K4D is what has caused this happening.?
?
By chance you don't have any suggestions on this?? Is there anything in the SO2R utility that could change the operation on ssb?
?
Tnx for your quick and continued support,
?
