Re: Signalink mating with the FT-920
Thank you everyone for all the dialog and support to my queries and posts.? The Signalink is in hand and I clearly over thought this project.? The pin out of the signalink RJ-45 connector s obvious with the circuit board in front of you.? While I haven't put the unit to use yet I have fabricated a cable and see no reason why it won't work.? Thanks again, Take care.

Signalink mating with the FT-920
I want to use the Signalink external sound card unit with my 920 for digital work.? I want to interface through the 5 pin din connector on the back of the radio.? The Signalink cable to pair the unit with the FT-920 data port is the SLCAB5PD.? I have all the necessary parts to make a cable if I can get a good pin out,? Does anyone have a pin out for this cable or the cable that they can read out for me.? Finally if anyone has the cable and is ready to part with it I am interested.
Thank you.? 73 Harrison N1FAM |
WSJT-X with the Yaesu 920
Basic Issue; I am using the Yaesu FT-920 with a 9DB to USB cable to control my rig via Ham Radio Deluxe software.? All is well.? The various elements work well so I am comfortable that the cable I am using between the radio and the computer works.? My problem is setting up the 920 with the WSJT-X program.? I believe I have the radio set up correctly, the WSJT-X program correct.? But when I key the transceiver for FT-4 or 8 through WSJT-X I have the transmit lite on the radio but no indication of power out.? The steady tone that sounds during transmission is emanating from my laptop speaker.? I am at a loss regarding what I don't have set correctly.? Can anyone put me back on track.? I would really appreciate it.
Thanks 73 Harrison |
Re: Filter Combination
Steve
While I do not have the answer to your question, I would like to take it farther.? If I understand the 920 manual, the YF-116A/INRAD #710 filter is required for AM transmission.? So if you put a SSB filter in the second filter position do you sacrifice the ability to transmit on AM?? Will a SSB filter work in the second position?? If you look at Menu number U-69 (CW) and U-70 (AM) they seem pretty specific.? I.E. CW and AM.? Is this indicating that there is no additional post manufacturing SSB filtering available?? Looking at the circuit diagram it lists the CW and AM filter slots.? I am far from knowledgeable on the Yaesu filter schemes.? I know my FT-1000 Mk V has five filter slots.? I believe the FTdx-3000 only has one slot for a CW filter.? I only say this, because I've always been a bit confused on Yaesu's filter options.? I'd love to hear from anyone on the subject. Take care.? 73 Harrison N1FAM |
FT-920 Production Years
Morning
Question may have been asked in the past but nothing came up with a search.? What were the production years of the FT-920?? My serial number is 9Fxx.? So I believe that to be April 1999.? I say that because I don't believe the 920 was in production in 2019 and it was a later radio than those of 1989.? Am I correct? Thank you.? Stay safe and healthy.? 73 Harrison N1FAM |
Filter Combination
Hello group
I am new here so please bear with me :) I have a FT-920 from a silent key who was actually a friend of mine (KV4DP) I took the rig to? sell for his wife (also a friend), but I ended up just giving her the money and keeping the rig for myself. It has been sitting around for a couple of years, and like me, desiring to get back on the air :) I have looked into a few upgrades to do to it. Namely the Inrad roofing filter and some of the cascading SSB and CW filters with the filter boards. Here is my question..... What would be the best combination of filters to get or put in the FT-920????? Both CW and SSB :) Thanks in advance :) Steve/KC8LQV |

Re: DATA-USB transmit
Gene, The microphone was disconnected, and nothing changed when the MOX was activated, the ERROR came on. So I guess we are out of options? The radio is extremely clean, and looks almost like a new radio. I have been informed by a number of tech's, that work on this particular radio,? the processor is the problem. I understand from YAESU, that this part is not available!? As is. the radio should be worth $300? Re: DATA-USB transmit
Gene, I gave the tuner in/out a try and no change. Funny thing, in the CW mode I can operate the strait-key and get the side tone, but no transmit. Nothing changes, it acts like a code practice oscillator. When I press the MOX button the ERROR message comes-up. I unkey the MOX and the message goes away. In SSB I key the mic and the ERROR? message shows up. It does not lock-up in the ERROR mode, it appears only when the mic or MOX is activated. The receiver functions perfectly, it is a hot receiver with lots of wonderful features, very frustrating. Any other suggestions? I would be shame to relegate the radio to a parts unit? Re: DATA-USB transmit
Gene, Thank you four the suggestion, I have not given any attention to the tuner...this is the first suggestion thus far that included the tuner. I will be giving it a try, and will get back to you. Re: DATA-USB transmit
Could be a internal tuner issue there bad about it see if it will transmitt with the internal tuner off. But if you really are just done with it lmk how much you want for it I have several and could possibly build one out of 3 radios. Lmk GENE MITCHELL. Re: DATA-USB transmit
Duane, My 920 will not transmit in any mode. A message ERROR shows up in the display. It receives just fine, but not xmit. I also did all of the reset(s) including changing the battery...nothing worked? It is a shame, the radio looks brand new, and receives wonderfully! I could use some help also, my only other choice is to sell the radio asis for every I can get. Kind regards, Christopher On Sat, Mar 18, 2023 at 11:22?AM Duane Jenson <ac0zh@...> wrote:

DATA-USB transmit
开云体育Greetings, My 920 will not transmit in DATA-USB. ?It will xmit in all other data modes as well as USB phone. ?It acts like it wants to transmit as the receiver switches off and the 'TRANSMIT' indicator lights but just doesn't make any power. ?I've tried the FSK/AFSK switch and the menu setting for RTTY in upper mode but that doesn't have any affect. ?I've done the hard CPU reset this AM also to no avail. ?Has anyone ran across this? For anyone interested in AFSK or FSK operation on the 920, .pdf might save some time and explain things. ?I found it helpful... if only my rig would cooperate! 73 es tnx for reading |

Re: ERROR MESSAGE ON MY FT-920
The radio receives just fine, but when I try to transmit, an ERROR message shows up in the display, preventing the radio from transmitting. SSB, or MOX, the ERROR diagnostic message appears. I have performed the various resets suggested in the manual, including the hard-reset. The battery is good, and no other issues are apparent. FYI transmitting is in the authorized ham bands. Help! Re: ERROR MESSAGE ON MY FT-920
I performed all of the resets, to no avail; then a hard-reset, still getting the ERROR message...sigh! Not sure where to go from here? The instruction manual provides nothing that I can use in-order to diagnose the problem? My only thought at this juncture, is that there is an issue that can not be resolved, by resets? Suggestions, welcome. Kind regards, Christopher On Wed, Nov 16, 2022 at 10:16 PM Vincenzo Mone <vimone@...> wrote: Christopher, |
