You get that message when you try to download Topographic (terrain elevation) tiles from the US Geological Survey, because they require you to have a (free) account there to download data. You don't need a login when you try to download OpenStreetMap street data from the YAAC author's website.
If you don't need terrain data, don't try to download it, and you won't get the prompt.
