Re: noise from power supply masking signals
I think you responded to the wrong letter. I wrote in mine that my transceiver begins to make noise even when powered by an external BATTERY.

Re: noise from power supply masking signals
I have found most of these little brick power supplies are RF noisy.
I have found this one to be quite, 12V 5A supply from MPJA.com. Plugs into the X6100. ? Others in the list are noisy.
12 Volt

Re: Power conversion for x6100
Rectifying AC to DC is one way to use diodes, but as a fundamental device, it can have many uses...
At it's most basic, a diode is just a "one way check-valve" for current... So within a DC circuit,

I just checked and my current voltage dropper uses 1N5404 diodes in series.

LOL!?This is because the devices are the same, and therefore the problems are the same (;

Re: noise from power supply masking signals
Greetings,
I've seen the same issues and after adding the filters the noise/static from the power supply got significantly reduced.
I'm using these filters now:

Re: Power conversion for x6100
An ordinary silicon rectifier drops the voltage by about .6v - .7v. ?By putting several in series, you can drop it by steps of about .6v.

Howard,
Well. I'm not great on electronics. But I thought a diode rectifier was for
turning AC into DC.
How would that work, my friend?

Re: Power conversion for x6100
Jerry
Is there a reason you want to go the buck converter route rather than reducing the voltage with series diodes?

Re: noise from power supply masking signals
Oleg, it seems like you and I both come across the same weird anomalies in this radio. I noticed that voltage alone on the external power connector will cause noise on the spectrum display. This radio

Re: noise from power supply masking signals
Depends on what batch your device is from. Mine was purchased a year ago and it itself begins to generate interference when connected to external power. Moreover, this is definitely not interference

Re: noise from power supply masking signals
Hi Paul,
I use this PS for my 705 without any noticeable noise. It¡¯s a good supply and the vendor is actively invoked support on Nx issues.

Re: Power conversion for x6100
Hey, y'all,
I would really like to try the buck convertor route, instead of the fan.
Anyone know of a really GOOD variable input, variable output Buck Convertor
that has the LEAST RF noise? Or would

Re: noise from power supply masking signals
Most small, cheap switching mode power supplies are going to be problematic.
I use this one and it works great without much, if any, noticeable noise.

From the Xiegu maintenance manual, they identify the area of the middle pPCB that is the LO.. I wonder if shielding this section in a can would reduce the LOL?
