Someone with a bad battery needs to open their radio unplug the battery because the charging circuit on the back panel with the battery, plug in external power and see if it comes on.

Your best bet would be an 84 to 86 foot wire with a 17 foot elevated counterpoise.? This is W3EDP antenna and it would provide the most consistent impedance for matching from 80m through 10m as it is
