You need yo install the libraries for Xp, do a search for the package Xp-dev and install that.? Try running the following as

apt-get update
apt-cache search Xp-dev
apt-get install
ldconfig -vv

then try again, let me know.

Hi,

I want to install the XEphem on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS , and the installation stops and says that: /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lXp

how can I solve this? :)

I've searched the internet and I found that the xp library has been removed/replaced(?) from the Ubuntu.

That is worth knowing. I am trying to run the package from the Web
site. RPMs for OpenSuse are generally not compatible with Mageia (or
with much else.)

Doug.

I almost have an RPM for Mageia built. Missing UB313.edb. It isn't
among the Sources.

What is it, and where can I find it?

I got there. Used the SRPM from Suse, changed a few dependencies, and
allowed that my distro uses .xz compression for man pages. I commented
out UB313.edb.
