Re: OT: Yahoogroups as a provider?
I will stay here for a while there are to much contacts that know my actual address at yahoo.com. ? I will check the new TOS but usually I just block spam in my personal filters, so..... any unwanted e-mail will be rejected. ;) Eric.

It's come to my attention that Yahoogroups has changed their TOS in order to more broadly disseminate our personal information to 3rd-party providers and advertising?agencies. As the owner/moderator of the XEphem mailing list I would like to "check the pulse" of our members to see if this is acceptable vs. changing to a different provider. Of course the final decision is up to Elwood. If he and the general membership are ok with staying with Yahoogroups then we will do so. If not I'll start migrating accounts to a different provider like .?

Change of timezone not saved.
Getting past the Oath Advertising was my first problem, although not
why I posted. The advertising is as intrusive and flashy as a "cheap porn site," as a Web design manual put it. It means that I am effectively locked out of managing my account. Surely Verizon can do better? The real question is: My TZ has changed from Summer time (UTC+11) to Winter time (UTC+10). I have changed the details in the GUI several times. I have edited my "Private directory" config file to show winter file. Every attempt to save the details creates a new copy of the config file with the CORRECT new circumstances. But nothing will make the change permanent in the GUI. My details in the config are as follows: Bendigo, Australia ; 36 45 00 S ; 144 20 00 E ; 225.0 ; EST-10EDT-11,M10.1.0,M4.5.0 I would have expected a comma, or at least a space, between EST and EDT, but I haven't tried fiddling. The correct winter time seems to be used, but I would be happier if the GUI was correct. Having my winter during American summer seems to cause problems. XEphem on Raspberry Pi Zero W
I don't know if anyone has XEphem running on a Raspberry Pi Zero W.
My build instructions are the similar, less adding the i386 architecture. apt install build-essential git libxext-dev x11proto-xext-dev libxau-dev x11proto-print-dev xutils-dev libtool libtool-bin gfortran-multilib libmotif-dev libx11-dev libxmu-dev libxt-dev x11proto-print-dev libxm4:i386 libuil4:i386 libmrm4:i386 libxm4 libuil4 libmrm4 libmotif-common libmotif-dev libxmu-dev autoconf tcsh libssl-dev I then downloaded the latest version of the code, added the patch, and then compiled and installed as normal. It works pretty well on the Pi.? It does have some hesitation.? I have it running on the Mate desktop.? I probably could have gone a bit more light weight.? It's running on a 43" flat-panel TV. Burning 209M/434M, Load average is 1.98 (the strength of 2 processors when it only has one). Running on Openbox: Burning 117M/434M Load Average is 0.98. Tests were with a 00:05:00 step and max steps with no pause. |

Looks like libxp-dev is not available on the native 16.04 repos. You may need to compile from sourceI found that libXp wasn't actually needed. I edited the Makefile (GUI/xephem/Makefile) and changed this line: XLIBS = -lXm -lXt -lXext -lXmu -lX11 to this: XLIBS = -lXm -lXt -lX11 and that worked, and I've been using that xephem for months. I guess whatever functionality used to be needed from Xp has been folded into some other library. ...Akkana |
Re: libXp removed from Debian
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýYou could either try to use the deb for xephem offered on and/or install the libxp-dev package from Trusty (Ubuntu 14.04 LTS) offered on in any other case helps you to search for packages and in case manually install older versions. Greetings, Michael Am 2017-11-25 um 21:47 schrieb Doug

It sounds as though your library doesn't have the correct version. I am running Mageia, and the -devel package isn't installed. Maybe you need the package-config file (extension .pc) On my system, it was part of the 'devel' package. If you are installing from source, you can symlink your existing libxp.h to the one required. My main RPM is libxp6, but I have only a working knowledge of Ubuntu. Doug. -- Mageia release 6 (Official) for x86_64 running 4.9.50-desktop-1.mga6 with DE=Xfce4 |
