sorry for the short notice. Saturday at Scout Camp Cutler in Naples is the annual camporee where RARA shows off some radio stuff to the scouts. I'll be showing foxhunting and all are welcome to join me 08:00 until whenever. You may demo any other radio skills or help with foxhunting. 10/30 and 31 is pumpkin patrol on thruway bridges. I have a 13.8 volt 20 amp Astron power supply. It belonged to my father WA8ZMS, SK. I was using it with my new Yaesu FTdx-10 until it blew it's fuse. Turns out the Yaesu requires a 30 amp power supply. I replaced the 2N3771 transistors and it is still blowing fuses. There are no obvious capacitor failures or burns on the boards. I don't have the equipment necessary to troubleshoot the supply nor do I have a need for it. I purchased a 30 amp Jesverty switching supply on Amazon for only $79, it is a fraction of the size and weight and was delivered the next day! It is working great. If someone would like to take the Astron off my hands, it is yours, free. DX Engineering wants $208 for a working version of my Astron. Otherwise, the XYL says it is going to the electronics recycling center. Joe AG2Y

ARRL's simulated emergency test is 10/5. ARES/RACES will be doing HF voice and winlink to St. Lawrence county hospitals because they are part of Rochester Regional Health. W2SKY is a key player and anyone else is welcome to participate. We'll be simulating a regional outage of phone,internet and power. Makerfaire is at RIT this year 11/16 and we hope to have more of a real station on the air this year. The kids would love to see/hear your code keys and QSL cards and any homemade ham gear. MC ARES/RACES is a small group but we like to get out and do things like Mammoth March, a 20 mile 8 hour hike around Letchworth Park last month. We provided communications for health and safety along the course. Currently, XARC has no secretary and vice president. We would certainly accept any volunteers for these positions, but if not, we will continue to operate the club as before without these positions being filled. Since club meeting attendance has been mainly a subset of the same 4 to 6 members the last couple of years, we are reducing our meeting frequency. Every 3 months is the goal, but I need to work with Webster Rec and meeting dates for the next 10 months. Some meetings may be Zoom only. Our limited participation in club operations means that our club bylaws and constitution cannot be followed to the letter, but the board will continue to operate within the spirit of those documents. With that said, we have had repeaters on the air for 43 years continuously, and operated as a club on Field Day for 38 years straight and expect to do some more. As always, the club is made up of its members.
