First I found this: https://www.sstv-handbook.com/download/sstv_11.pdf in which the WEFAX settings are described as any kind of combination between 288/576 and 30,60,120,240 lpm... at page 7 of the pdf, Kyodo news is quoted as requiring 60 and 120 lpm / 576 IOC setting: "Next Tokyo station is JJC, it is Kyodo News Agency. Transmission speed is 60 lpm and IOC 576, sometimes 120 lpm when weather charts are posted." I also wrote to the owner of the internet site https://kyodonewsradiofax.wordpress.com/about-kyodo-news/ and reached to me, indeed confirming that the setting for 576/120 and 60 are needed in order to receive this station... quoting his email: "Yes, for Kyodo one needs 576/60. Fldigi removed the line setting from its interface at some point, quite a long time ago. What I did, was that I created a copy of Fldigi source code and changed hardcoded 120 to 60. So for Kyodo decoding I would simply run a second altered Fldigi. So yes, I can confirm this behavior of a removed lines dropdown, as it really was there before." I think the best course of action is to permit changing the combination of all those parameter as it was before, also as it is described in the wefax standard in the PDF i linked before - I will do it myself but I'm not a skilled programmer anymore (I was a programmer in the late '90 :) ) I will try to receive some transmission to test them asap! I have a new laptop, I installed the recent version of my GNU/Linux OS, and some options are missing. I don't have anymore the "LPM" setting, the FIR setting nor the 4 bargraph showing START, PHASE, IMAGE... and I think also the "skip phase" is missing. The main problem is the "LPM" setting, because I can't set it correctly to receive Kyodo News from Japan. Kyodo News require IOC576 with 60LPM and I can't set it What I receive now is basically a half page, the other half is cut away and I can't solve this problem. Is there some way to get back those settings for WeFax? I think now it's unusable for KYODO NEWS decoding. Thank you --

PTT not working
12
This is rather strange. I have Fldigi working logged in as admin on windows 11. It is version 4.2.06 and an ICOM 7300. Using the same configuration as a standard nonadmin user PTT does not work. If I click on tune nothing happens but if I am logged in as admin tune works fine. I did have a problem during the install as COM4 did not appear on the list but I entered manually and then it worked. I have tried rebooting and restarting the radio but it is 100% reproducible that I can not get it working other than as admin. I was also wondering where does the configuration get stored?

Dual instance of fldigi problem
3
I need two different instances of FLDIGI. I installed each into different Directories with their shortcuts into different folders. I went to my ham install and setup some basic info and everything looked right. After closing that program down, I then went into the other Directory install via it's shortcut and noticed that it's config file is the same when bringing up the program. I verified that each was in their own directory and shortcut pointed to each. What else do I need to edit to keep each separated in it's own directory ? Thank you 73 KT

FLDIGI not finding Com4

#help
#windows11
I have an ICOM 7300 connected via USB and installed Fldigi 4.2.06 on windows 11. It only finds COM1 which does not exist. My Com port is COM4 and it works fine with other applications (Flrig, WSJTX). It is an Acer laptop and has no other Com ports. I have rebooted and checked COM port properties, there is nothing unusual. I also checked hidden devices and there is no COM1 port there

Signalink audio level changes with frequency
9
Hi there. When I operate digital modes in FLDigi using my Signalink USB, why does the audio level change when frequency is changed? I'll operate, say, PSK31 on my Yaesu FT-920 at the lower end of the passband at a set audio level. Then, when I change to the higher end of the passband, my audio level will be too high, forcing me to lower it so as not to splatter. When I change back to the lower end of the passband and transmit, my audio level is in the mud, forcing me to turn the audio up. Why is that? Tom, N8EUI

Anomaly with FLDigi and N3fjp ARRL RTTY ROUNDUP
While working with a friend to get him setup on FLDigi and n3fjp for the upcoming ARRL rtty roundup in Jan 2025, we were sending each other some practice QSOs. When I sent him my exchange with TN as my state, my friend clicked on it and FLDigi entered 09 in the serial number field rather than TN in the S/P field. We tried all states and the only problem was with TN. We also tested other n3fjp contest logs and had no problems with TN being properly recognized. Any comments or suggestions?

RxID Narrow Versus Wide
2
Using Fldigi version 4.2.06. I have been using Fldigi for quite a while. I always use RxID and it is always green. However, all of a sudden the RxID is now maroon. I checked the colors menu and found there is a RxID narrow button that is green and a RxID wide button that is maroon. Why did RxID on the main screen start turning on in the wide mode? I don't know the difference between the narrow and wide modes. I read the help file and it says nothing about this issue. Tnx for the help! Felix KF7LB

Assuming you are using WIndows Defender, try this: first go to SETTINGS, then click on UPDATE AND SECURITY, then WINDOWS SECURITY, then VIRUS AND THREAT PROTECTION, then FIREWALL AND NETWORK PROTECTION, then, down low on that page, "Allow an app through firewall", On the page that opens, click on "CHANGE SETTINGS", then ALLOW ANOTHER APP.and follow the remaining prompts. Ordinarily, when this occures in MY systems, I get a BLUE background which contains different wording than you are seeing with your yellowish background. Perhaps your antivirus is giving you that warning, and not anything within Windows' security settings. If that is the case, you will have to ignore ALL I have said above, and go into the settings of your antivirus program and add an "Allowed App". Fill us in on some details (operating system, antivirus if any, etc.) and we can help you. callsign lookup in logging program
7
#fldigi
#Log4om
I am trying to find the link from Fldigi to logging programs that allows them to look up previous calls when a callsign is entered in Fldigi to start a QSO. When used with DX Keeper as soon as you enter a callsign in Fldigi, DX Keeper and DxView look up the callsign. When used with N3FJP the same process happens. I am trying to duplicate this lookup with Log4OMv2 but I cannot find what is sending the data to the other programs. Does anyone have any idea where I can look, or how to do this set up? Thanks in advance for any ideas. 73 Bill w1wrh

M4 Mac Mini Error w/Fldigi ("fldigi-4.2.06" would like to access the microphone.)
4
I have used Fldigi successfully for several years with a 2018 Mac mini. I recently upgraded to a M4 Mac Mini. Since then, I have not been able to get Fldigi to work with my new Mac Mini. I first used Homebrew to install the latest version of Fldigi. That didn't work. Then, I downloaded Fldigi from the main website. That also didn't work. Here's what happens when I attempt to open the program: Fldigi will open for 2 or 3 seconds, close, and then the attached message will be displayed. I have checked, unchecked, and checked the microphone access, but the program still crashes. So, what steps am I missing? Thanks for your suggestions. Lonnie Craven (K4KZ)

Fldigi and Win11 - final results
Testing reveals that in the Acer Aspire 3 laptop which has been the subject device, the USB ports are miswired, or perhaps this is an "alternate" wiring. The USB-A ports have three horizontal "pins" 1, 2, 3, and 4. Pins 1 (+) and 4 (-) are the 5 VDC source. Pins 2 and 3 are data pins. The usual wiring is Data + on pin 2 and Data - on pin 3. In this Acer Apire 3 laptop, those data pins are wired reversed, Data - is on Pin 2 and Data + is on pin 3. For most applications, this will not make any difference: a wireless mouse and my USB CD drive work perfectly. However, this does NOT work correctly with our digital intefaces: audio inputs/outputs will be reversed and will not appear correctly in Windows' audio applications. For our digital interfaces, the solution is simple: simply reverse the normal connections to MIC and SPKR in the digital interfaces connection poirt, when you can. However, then you probably should mark the digital interface so modified so that if it should be connected to a "normal' USB port, you will have to re-reverse the MIC and SPKR connections.
