Re: running FLAMP with two instances of FLDIGI
Ok after ensuring?the use FLRIG PTT is checked the following fails: 1) start FLRIG, start instance of FLDIGI 4.2.05, start FLAMP 2.2.13, start second instance of FLDIGI 4.2.05 using different config directory - this fails 2) start FLRIG, start first FLDIGI instance, start FLAMP 2.2.11, start second instance of FLDIGI 4.2.05 using different?config?directory - this works It does look like order of starting apps is important.? It looks likeFLAMP 2.2.13 is a bit wonky. But using?FLAMP 2.2.11 it looks like net functions will work. Thanks W4MRP! On Thu, Aug 15, 2024 at 1:09?PM W4MRP via <w4mrp=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: running FLAMP with two instances of FLDIGI
I forgot.? Ive used two FLDIGIs and a JS8call all at the same time at different waterfall offsets in some nets.? I set them all to use FLRIG -- even JS8Call (you can do something similar with hamlib rigctld, but I havent messed with it.)? ?I didnt set up multiple FLDIGI dirs.? Just stock installs.? All off the same dir.? I just started 2 FLDIGIs and one FLAMP.? The first FLDIGI I tune into the net that will send the FLAMPs.? The second FLDIGI was for FSQ and didnt use FLAMP.? Then there was the JS8Call part too.? ?Maybe you just dont need the second FLDIGI dir?
?
Also, FLAMP 2.2.13 has issues.? Per the developers, it was released on accident.? Not sure if it has been fixed or not.? Hope so.? Use the most recent prior version you can find.? I'm using FLAMP 2.2.09 from the FLDIGI archives.

Re: running FLAMP with two instances of FLDIGI
Based on how I think it works, I wouldn't guess that FLAMP can be used with multiple FLDIGIs unless each pair FLDIGI+FLAMP have their own configurations.? FLAMP will probably only work with the first FLDIGI started.
?
My understanding of how it works:
?
So, to get multiple FLAMPs to work with their own FLDIGIs you will probably have to configure them to use different ports.? I have done this and it can work.? It isnt the most elegant thing in the world tho.
?
Anyway, that's my take on it.? Might not be 100% correct.
?
Hope that helps.

running FLAMP with two instances of FLDIGI
I am using Widows 11.
?
I am able to get two instances of FLDIGI running using two separate directories.
?
I am using FLRIG for rig control and both instances attach smoothly to FLRIG and all works as expected.
?
I start FLAMP 2.1.13 and it says connects. ?But when I try to send from FLAMP ?I get no response from FLRIG.
?
If I kill FLAMP, kill one instances of FLDIGI, and restart FLAMP, all works as expected.
?
It looks like FLAMP will not work if two instances of FLDIGI are running.
?
I seem to get similar behavior with FLAMP 2.2.11.
?
Thoughts?
?
We need at least two instances of FLDIGI running for controlling out nets.
?
Thanks! |
Autostart FLRIG with systemd
I have all of the pieces up and running (FLRIG, VARA HF under Wine, and RigctlD) up? and running on a Raspberry Pi 4 running Bookwork for a Winlink RMS. What I am looking for is advice or information about starting FLRIG (and the others) with systemd. Not real experienced in Linux but I have set up a BPQ and Direwolf node so I do know some of the fundamentals.? Any advice or info is appreciated. ?

I have a Dell laptop that was originally W10. I then updated it to W11. It originally had 4 GB of RAM, but along the way that was insufficient to run whichever if the Windowses it was. So I added an extra 4 GB. About a year ago an update to W11 made it impossible
to run with 8GB. I had a look at what was running that bloated the memory usage but couldn't see anything to unload.
Also the laptop was physically falling apart in the that the screen was starting to separate from the body. (Lesson: do not close the laptop with a pen still at the hinge too often!) So I installed debian 12 on it and stuck it out of the way in the shack and
it now runs CAT to both my rigs. I also use it as my main software development computer.
I am typing this on a new HP Windows 11 laptop as it's not easy to get a "vanilla" laptop that you can customise yourself. Also I occasionally need access to windows-only software.

Mike,
Am I a fan of Microsoft? No. Am I a user? Yes, since Windows 3.1 because the organizations I worked for standardized on it.
Recently my faith in MS has become shaken. The suggestions I gave are ones that have tripped me up on both Win 10 and 11 Pro. My editorializing was gratuitous, but is heartfelt. Windows has become a necessary evil for the reasons
that I and others have mentioned. I am too far invested in Windows based software to quit and go 100% Linux. That¡¯s the way it is.
I have two nice Dell laptops with Win 11 pro that started out beautifully but are beginning to slow as the updates roll in. Awful lot of crapware arrived with those updates and I was force fed ¡°solutions¡± I don¡¯t trust or want and
have had to disable to maintain reasonable performance.
I apologize if it upset people.

Re: fldigi freezes when trying to decode anything
Chris I only have 4 gig of ram in both Toughbooks. I've run Kenwood and Icom with FLdigi Suite, other than operator error. I've had no issues. What baud rate are you using? Not the PC baud but what the program and radio wants to see. Try something higher like 115200 as example. 73 Don va7qu Don Poaps New Westminster, BC VA7DGP DATA VA7QU ? VOICE Winlink:?va7dgp@... Re: fldigi freezes when trying to decode anything
Cliff: I totally deleted the C:\Users\<your login name>\fldigi.files directory, then restarted Fldigi and entered all my data again.
Wouldn't that then also remove the fldigi.prefs file, and the fldigi_def.xml file?
?
Jack: This Toughbook has a new SSD with only WSJT-X, Winlink, and Fldigi installed.
All the bloatware (Edge, Onedrive, Skype, etc.) have been disabled, but that is a good suggestion.
?
I might try removing Fldigi with "remove programs", then make sure fldigi files directory is gone, and then reinstall.
?
This is certainly odd as it runs fine on two other PC's that I own.
?
Thanks all for the ideas.
