Re: Fldigi on Raspberry Pi Zero
Very interesting about getting Fldigi working on the RPi-zero, especially the part about taking "less than 24 hours for the script to build". I did not wait nearly that long and it appeared to have just locked up on my Pi, so maybe I will try it again. I have used Fldigi on my desktops for many years and like it for the modes it supports, so it would be nice to have a consistent interface in teh field. The author of LinPSK was very helpful correcting the initial rig control and logging issues I had and I have been using that, but I may try Fldigi again.

Re: Fldigi on Raspberry Pi Zero
I found your discussion while I was searching for info on running Fldigi & Flrig etc on a Raspberry Pi Zero W.? I've been successful with rig control of my Xiegu X1M (acting as an IC-718) using Flrig, and also decoding CW with Fldigi.? While decoding CW, my Raspberry Pi Zero W uses 50% of the RAM and 40% of the CPU.? Once I had the volume level adjusted appropriately, it was accurately decoding CW from the sample YouTube recordings I found at 15WPM and 18WPM.? The audio hardware is an inexpensive USB audio dongle made by Vention.? The Pi Zero W also successfully got time and location updates via a Ublox-7 USB dongle.? Besides Fldigi, the only other significant users of the Pi's CPU were the vncserver and Xorg processes -- I'm interacting with the Pi Zero W via VNC over WiFi.
The Fldigi set of utilities were compiled on the Pi Zero W itself using a script provided by an organization called "AmRRON" (gitlab.com/amrron/setup-scripts). I learned about this script via a YouTube video from OH8STN entitled "Ultimate Raspberry Pi Build | Ham Radio".? He uses a Pi 3B+, and I was curious whether my Pi Zero W could also do the job.? So far so good.? It took less than 24 hours for the script to build all the components.? There are times when you need to respond to the prompts from the script. I don't have much experience with amateur radio digital modes; this is my first attempt to put something together.? Eventually I'll need to determine whether my Pi Zero W is sufficient, or whether I need to get myself a more powerful Pi. |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHello Bill here N3GTY question do you have spot enabled top right
side of screen? Under Spotting do you have spot call in decoded
text and do you have your antenna defined in your user information
just a few things that might keep you from spotting. bye for now

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý?I Have all the parameters set in FLDigi. Even shows I am connected to PSK Reporter. I also have HRD and it reports just fine. I am not showing anything in PSK reporter such as antenna, lotw nor version of software. I see others using FLDIGI versions and they are showing just fine. I have a 100% internet connections at all times. Dave NU4N

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThank you for the report Chip.? It's impossible for me to personally test all 90 supported transceivers, so I rely on user reports of success and failure.? Success is much sweeter music.Dave, W1HKJ On 6/6/21 10:50 AM, Chip Coker KD4C

I want to thank Dave & crew for FLrig 1.4.0!? I have been using FLRig since I started using digital modes with FLdigi and WSJT-X, but the 1.3.50+ versions had become very erratic with my (old) Kenwood TS-140S.? After WSJT-X version 2.3.0 upgrade, it would no longer work with FLrig so I had to directly control the rig with WSJT-X.? With FLdigi, FLrig frequency would flicker at least 5-10 times a minute (which I assumed was a polling error) so it was almost unusable. |
Re: Contest Dupe not working
Disconnecting the ACL logging also cleared up another problem that perplexed me.
On the FlDigi screen in the upper right is the frequency display - the larger of the two display. The other is the QSO frequency shown above the QSO Call.? This is set manually to the radio's dial frequency. (not using any CAT).? Sometimes it would change when you click on a different spot on the waterfall.? The value of the waterfall spot would be added to the original dial frequency. Which at first seems what it's supposed to do, but the QSO frequency display changes again. Now it will shows a frequency value of the original dial frequency plus two times (2X) the waterfall spot value. This then would get logged, which is incorrect.? ? So somehow the ACL is screwing up the frequency displays in FlDigi. I have seen this problem for sometime now.? No upgrade has seemed to fix the problem. Don K9DEB |

I can happily report that with 1.4.0, all my issues seem to be gone!? FLrig is stable and much faster, with no frequency flickering/polling problems, and WSJT-X again works with FLrig with no issues and hamlib errors.? Life is good again (at least on 20M)! Thanks Dave! '73 Chip KD4C |

Thanks, that did the trick.? Though I would still like to have the contact logged to the ACL file at the same time FlDigi logs it.? Kind of a backup. I have seen were for what ever reason a contact was logged in ACL, but not in the FlDigi file.? ?Had to resort to a paper 'Dup" sheet. Don K9DEB |
