What radio. Are drivers installed... did you give microphone permission... maybe a screen shot of the sound card selection options?

Would be nice if the programmers could make it where other contest names can be manually typed in.

Re: Contest Name

Hello Ken,

Looking at the source code, the selection of contest names appears to be 'hard wired' in the program.

I guess all you can do is select 'Generic contest' from the dropdown list...

No Modulation with Ftdx101D

You might find it interesting to read briefly about the difference twixt FSK and AFSK. Just the mode differences, without referring to the digi mode (RTTY, PACTOR, etc.) that use them. For example, I can put my Kenwood TS-480 into FSK mode, but I can't put my TS-830S onto FSK mode because it doesn't have that. Instead, I can use it for AFSK. Once you read about these two modes, it will be much clearer.

Hello Rich

thank you very much
I didn't know that because I always did RTTY in RTTY-L mode on the FTdx101D :-)

indeed I just made my first QSO with FLDigi
being in DATA mode it works very well

A very big thank you RICH I had absolutely not thought of that ...

Odd WF distortion leads to no decode...

Dave W1HKJ, All,
Running multiple instances of fldigi version 4.2.06.20 on Win 11 very successfully, however when an instance is run for a long period of time I infrequently see some distortion creep in to the WF on one (sometimes 2) instances. When this happens, decode becomes degraded or stops only on the instance where I see the pattern like trace below:

From a concurrent iteration, that same signal looks like this:

Obviously it is not the rig or the OS audio system. It has happened for several versions back. It happens with fldigi using many different modems. Frustrating, because I have never been at the operating position when it does happen. It is always resolved by exiting the iterations that show the problem and restarting them. Everything seems to run fine for quite some time afterward.

1. Has anyone else seen this?

2. Any clue what might be happening?

Thanks and 73,

Re: No Modulation with Ftdx101D

Hello

actually I can't get it out
I still have my problem of having a carrier without modulation as soon as I put the sound card of the FTdx101d as an input and output device.
I have these 2 channels in windows

I think there are other options that are not correct
There are no screenshots of a configuration that works somewhere ?

I specify that with this same hardware it works very well with MMTY but I would like to use Fldigi :-)

Thanks again if you have any ideas ...

so indeed I looked in the sound settings (Soundcard/Devices)
I checked the "Audio Port" option, in input I put the internal sound card of the FTdx101D
but
in "playback" I had also put the sound card of the Ftdx101,

I modified and put the audio output of the PC in the playback field
and indeed it is since this manipulation that now it works :-)

I still have to find some correspondents to test :-)

Thanks again

CAT, using hamlib, flrig, etc., handles the PTT and synchronizing settings (VFO Freq, mode, filters, etc.). It has nothing to do with modulation. CAT has nothing to do with decoding.

Decoding and Modulation is based on audio and is independent of CAT. You can have fully functional audio with no CAT and fully functional CAT with no audio.

If you are receiving and decoding the received signals, then your Audio "capture" settings in FLDIGI are good. You are using the correct audio "microphone" and the volume/signal-levels are good.

If you are getting zero modulation out, then the audio output isn't making it to the rig. Verify the Audio "playback" settings and ensure you have the correct "speaker" selected (usually named "USB Audio Codec" or similar).

If you are running Windows 11, there is an extra set of configuration in the Windows audio "Sound Settings" that you may have to reconfigure. Under Windows 10, simply selecting the correct audio devices inside FLDIGI was sufficient, but under Windows 11, the Operating System may redirect the audio based on your OS configuration.

In the rig, you have to make sure that the rig is in USB Data mode so that it can be configured to transmit the audio over the USB cable. This is probably correct if you are receiving over USB audio. However, you also may have to configure the rig to use the USB input as the modulation source. Many times a rig is set to monitor the Microphone or an Accessory port for data mode operations (as would be the case if using a Signalink or other external source), and if your computer is sending audio over the USB cable, the rig has to be configured to use that audio source or you will get zero modulation (or modulation based on background audio picked up by the microphone).

Re: New web hosting site for www.w1hkj

Thank you David,

That makes perfect sense...

These 2 things I noted:

The 'About' screen still shows '(C) 2008-2014' => should be '2025', of course.

When clicking 'Check for updates...', fldigi ver4.2.06.21 crashes (disappears entirely from my Win7 OS screeb) after about 5 seconds, without notice, when there is NO web connection. It can then be restarted again as if nothing happened. This crash behavior is 100% repeatable. In ver4.2.06.19, it displays 'Update site not available' in the 4th status field, for a short time, without crashing, and continues working normally.
