Eeep! Meant I'll reach out to "Dave." [blush]

Re: FLdigi won't install - ASUS laptop running Win 11

OK, tried all of your suggestions, Mike. There's nothing to uninstall - installer simply fails to do anything but terminate itself. I'll reach out to Mike.

Re: FLdigi won't install - ASUS laptop running Win 11

Do NOT install as admin.? Uninstall and be sure to delete the "\program files\fldigi-x.x.x" directory before reinstalling.

Then rename \users\[username]\fldigi.files\fldigi.prefs and see if it will start.

If that works email the fldigi.prefs file so perhaps Dave can see why it doesn't work and maybe provide a fix for that.

On a lark, I found an archive of older installers - had to go back several years to find one that would actually run. Of course, that software version is super buggy so I can't use it.

What gives with the current installer? Any troubleshooting suggestions?

I little observation since updating to this version. The waterfall colour scheme seems no longer to be honoured after changing it from default, closing and re-launching fldigi. The correct pallete is opened on launch but the colour scheme remains the default one.

In the example below blue1.pal is saved in the config and displays/renders correctly at the time of configuring but on restarting Fldigi, blue1.pal is loaded but the palette is not blue1.pal
?

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Re: Just wondering if I could have two separate installs of Fldigi on same computer and same hard drive?

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

You do not and that is not the recommended installation.? You install a single copy of fldigi, flrig, etc.? Then you create a desktop launch icon with the properties set to allow each to run an instance of fldigi, flrig, etc. with a unique set of configuration files. The installation of fldigi creates a desktop icon.? Right click on the icon and open the properties dialog.

This screen shot shows a launch icon configured to use the folder "C:\Users\w1hkj\icom7300.fldigi" to hold all of the configuration files associated with that transceiver.? I also run a Yaesu FL-710, a QMX+, an FDM-DUO, and a Flex 1500.? All have separate launch icons configured for the specific transceiver.? If? you update the software, you only need to reinstall a single copy of the application.

During the software install you can elect to install to something other than the default folder.? Use a generic folder name for the application binary and you will never have to touch the launch icon after a software update.

Copy the shortcut and modify the properties to add a switch to the command line.

??--config-dir DIRECTORY
????Look for configuration files in DIRECTORY
????The default is: /Users/robert/.fldigi/

Default directory is \Users\[username]\fldigi.files

So just replace DIRECTORY with another path

Re: Just wondering if I could have two separate installs of Fldigi on same computer and same hard drive?

I do this all the time, but I use the standalone config, not the installed versions of the programs. Both ways are described in the Help docs. Note that having multiple installations is not the same thing as running copies of the programs. The latter needs much attention to specifics that have been covered on this list. But simply having multiple 'installation', either standalone or installed with separate config dirs, works fine.

Re: Just wondering if I could have two separate installs of Fldigi on same computer and same hard drive?

Yes. It¡¯s a standard topic in the Help. I have two radically different radios, an Icom 735 and a Yaesu 991A. I use the former with a Rig Blaster. I have two separate copies of both FLDIGI and FLRIG for each radio. It¡¯s difficult, but doable to run both.

Re: fldigi and IC-7100

Looks like did not like my PowerPoint attachment.

It can be?found at:

For hamplib config specific to IC-7100:

- select IC-7100 as rig

- com port as presented to PC

- 19200 baud

I was unsuccessful with using autobaud on the IC-7100 but that may have been user error.

My radio uses fsk and so I had a constant tone rather than the rtty diddle. I believe that David? or someone here in the group suggested that I use usb-d. That seemed to work . Unfortunately, trying so many things and not keeping a good record , I kept breaking my efforts. It would be great if an IC-7100 owner could provide their settings, understanding that it has it's own sound card and control is via a usb cable.

I am thankful for the group response and their information. It would be good for some updated data based on fldigi 4.2.xx and flrig 2.2.xx. Many of the screen shots are from much earlier versions.

#1 Set up a virtual com port pair -- com0com or Eltima (assuming Windows)? -- let's pretend you set up COM5/COM6
#2 Set up FLRig to talk to your rig
#3 Set WSJT-X to use FLRig?
#4 Run rigctlcom
rigctlcom -m 4 -R com5 -S 115200
#5 Set N3FJP so use COM6/115200 as a TS-2000

Actually you can do this:

WSJTX -> FLRig (via Hamlib)

rigctlcom is the magic glue that emulates a TS-2000 and can connect most any program (other than Ham Radio Deluxe) to FLRig or any other rig for that matter via a virtual serial port.

Anyone out there using an FT-950? Do you mind sharing your FLRig / FLdigi settings?

I am STRUGGLING to get fldigi and flrig to work. Currently opening FLRig activates the PTT on the transceiver and the only way to stop it is to restart the transceiver. From there I can adjust things through FLRig and I see the same things change on the transciever, so I know serial is talking fine.
?
Once I get into FLdigi and try to transmit anything I notice the PTT never kicks on, so the transceiver doesn't actually send anything out.
?
I'm using Win 11 64bit, I'll be happy to provide further info but I'm not sure what else is relevant to include here.
?
Thanks!
