What issue are you referring to? AFAIK .25 just fixed the issue with running flrig and fldigi on Windows.

No. The shift is just there to give more entries if you have many commands you wish to program into the list.

Where to find the latest version (4.1.24?) for Windows? #fldigi

Hello, I noticed message in this group announcing fldigi for windows version 4.1.23. I went into the files directories (both on Dave's site and on sourceforge) but there seems to be no windows version whatsoever. And versions for Linux and Mac seem to be 4.1.24 already.
So I downloaded version 4.1.22 from archive and I assume I will be perfectly happy with it. So I just want to ask is there any information that one needs to know about the background of Windows versions?

Flrig 1.4.7 and Kenwood TS-590SG issues / crashes #flrig

I could use some assistance running flrig with my new TS-590SG.? I have been using flrig on this same windows machine with my Icom IC-7200 with no difficulty.? I just acquired the Kenwood and am experiencing some unexplained behavior.

I am running Windows 10 Pro, build 19045 and Flrig 1.4.7.
I have tested using the Silicon Labs driver downloaded both directly from Silicon Labs as well as the version offered on the Kenwood site.
The TS-590 is running the latest 1.07 firmware.
Flrig is set to use VFO-A and the transceiver is also on VFO-A.
I'm using a shielded and ferrite-equipped USB cable from Tripp-Lite.
Flrig is set to 115200 baud as is the USB port baud rate in the radio menu 68.
The trace text looks odd as noted below, but it isn't garbage characters or no data as might be expected for a baud rate mismatch.

Issue Notes:
  1. Flrig crashes trying to select a data mode (i.e. USB-D) - if I have Data mode already turned on in the radio, flrig turns it off when it initializes. If I use the mode select and choose any Data-mode (USB-D, LSB-D), flrig crashes. I can sometimes set Data mode back on from the radio front-panel and have Flrig pick up that change (after doing the manual operation in item 6 below).
  2. Polling / Settings issues
    1. flrig frequently reports NB turned on at start-up, even when it is not on in the radio. I can successfully cycle the transceiver through NB options using the flrig UI. If NB is off on the rig but flrig reports it turned on, typically clicking the button sets the radio to NB3 which is then reported in the UI - but jumping from no NB to NB3 seems odd.
    2. flrig displays the tx power control as 0 when it starts (even though "use rcvr" is checked). I can change the power setting using the flrig UI, but then if I modify the power via the front-panel those changes are either ignored, or the UI drops back to showing 0 for the power control value.
    3. Enabling NR on the flrig UI does not enable NR in the transceiver. Changes made on the transceiver are not picked up by the UI.
    4. I can toggle ATT and PRE on and off via the UI control, but sometimes the values reported by the UI are the opposite of what is showing in the radio.
  3. Trace Data issues - the trace log looks strange to me.? It shows a log line saying that it is retrieving the value for a setting, but then it logs a command response from a prior query.
    1. Example, below you can see the query for VFO-B:? "S: FB" which is paired with a response value for VFO-A: "FA00014070000"
    2. The query for power-control: "S: PC" is paired with a response: "RA0000" which is the response to the prior Attenuator query.
    3. The PC result of "R: PC005" is paired with a subsequent query for the noise-blanker status.

5. Mode change error when JS8 frequency change is initiated - I have been using JS8Call and Fldigi together with flrig with no issues on the IC-7200.? At one point JS8 was making a successful connection to flrig, but when I initiated a frequency change flrig set the radio's mode to FSK.? I've never seen flrig change radio mode before based on a frequency change request from JS8.? I can't currently reproduce the behavior because hamlib is reporting an error and I can't get JS8 to successfully pass a Test CAT attempt, but I wanted to include this prior test result.

6. Can force a manual sync of data by programming a custom button. - Interestingly, if I program a hotkey/button to send the command "PC;" this can at least sometimes result in the power level being reported correctly, and then I see several other values change in the UI that begin reporting correctly.? That doesn't happen if I just use the manual "Send Command" - the response to the "PC" command is often a long string of responses unrelated to the power setting.? Something about manually pressing the button to send the hotkey command causes the rest of the automatic polling queries to sync up correctly for at least a short period of time.? Usually at some point the power setting goes back to being reported as 0 again.

I'm sure there is probably something simple that I need to have set differently to resolve these communications issues.? Appreciate any suggestions for corrective action on my part.

Thanks!
Daniel (AE4ON)

Mike,?
? ? ? ? ? I'm using FLRig v1.4.7, but it's doesn't have the .80 so maybe it was a issue with Windows 10 that caused FLDigi 4.1.24 to freeze up on me. I tried twice and one time running it as administrator and it froze up every time. I had to use Task Manager to get it to shut down. Computers are so quirky sometimes they'll run a program fine and the next time they won't just like my smartphone does. I'm running Microsoft Windows 10 Pro v10.0.19044.Usually a restart does wonders with the smartphone so maybe I should do a restart on the computer and try again. AE5ZA, Cliff, and I are still trying to figure out how me uninstalling FLDigi 4.1.24 caused me to lose the config file in version 4.1.23, but it sure happened. They are in different folders, but the Users/App data folder may be the same. I'm thinking that's where the config file would be, but I haven't explored to see. I'm content with FLDigi v4.1.23 so it's not really a problem for me.?

John,

Like the Autotune that command only sets what will happen when the button is pushed. It does not activate Bk-in. The description says it's only a setting.?

I think what you want it on page 19-3. Command 47 followed by 00 for off, 01 for semi-breakin and 02 for full breakin.

I have the same problem as Larry.? N3FJP did what it was supposed to do.? But the Fldigi serial number would sometimes not advance and I'd TX a duplicate serial number.? Then at times the Fldigi serial would appear to not advance, but the correct serial # would be TX.? When I then logged that entry, the Fldigi serial # would jump by an increment of 2, and all would be well again.

Re: ACLog rig keying broken as of version 4.1.20 #fldigi

Hi Matt,

I just tried the CWCOMPORT option for rig keying from fldigi in 4.1.23.29 and it is working for me (that is, I unchecked the 'PTT via <RIGTX> and <RIGRX>' option and just used the default).

Use of COM Port keying in ACLog (and most other applications) requires an additional COM port - you can't use the same one used for polling.? In my case, the IC-7610 has two virtual interfaces 'A' and 'B' on its Universal Serial Bus 2.0 interface.? I use COM 3 as the polling interface and COM 4 as the CW keying interface with the 'RTS' option.? In that configuration I can click on the 'Tune' button in the top right corner of the fldigi window and key the rig.? If that is not working for you, please check your ACLog settings (Settings -> Transmit -> CW Setup ...) and make sure your Com Port and Keying Options settings are consistent with your rig's expectations.? Let me know the details if you are not successful with this in the latest fldigi version but were with a prior version.

Thanks

Re: Programming Command Buttons #flrig #IC-7300

I have checked the FM version of the manual.

In any of my "programming" attempts, I thought every function of the newer radios had an equal digital purpose to actuate, if that makes sense.

See if you can find a CW QSO and click on the button and you'll see the center jump to right on top of his/her tone. If you have say 700 Hz set as your comfortable tone, it'll be pretty close to that for your listen and transmit on his frequency of you were to reply.

Not many people are aware of this function and some I've spoken to, thought it dealt with the internal turner. It's awesome when you expect to transmit and you want to zero in on his frequency. Great tool for the CW op. When I've called CQ, I've had a filter of 150 Hz set and someone 250 or greater off, I'll never hear them and wish they used this option, albeit they have the same rig.

Re: ACLog rig keying broken as of version 4.1.20 #fldigi

Hi Matt,

I'm looking into the mode behavior.? With ACLog in rig control and set to "Mode Determined by Rig":

With 4.1.18:

1. ACLog is sending its 'generic' rig mode (e.g., SSB, CW) to fldigi but fldigi's rig mode combo box does not map that to one of its entries.
2. fldigi does not send rig mode commands to ACLog (it sends modem mode in the log data, but not rig mode commands).

This behavior is the same in 4.1.23.29 (and consequently 4.1.24).

I will look into this further to see whether either path might be managed in a straightforward manner.? With the main rig control options, the set of modes in fldigi's combo box correspond directly to those available on the radio and that UI element is used both for commanding and reflecting the rig settings.? ACLog does not provide a list of modes it understands for the selected radio, and by default reports LSB/USB as SSB - a mode that cannot be commanded directly.? If there isn't a good solution here, the best approach might be to deactivate the fldigi rig mode combobox and clear its entry when operating with ACLog doing rig control - that way there would be no conflicting information.

Thanks

Mike,

That command is to control the normal tuning function, not the AutoTune button which is a different button.

I have several other interface softwares that does not have this feature (not running at the same time as FLRIG) and one of the key features I would like to see implemented is AUTO TUNE. On the front of the 7300, is an AUTO TUNE button that when pressed and you are near a CW tone, it will "zero beat" with that signal. In the 7300 manual, it provides the CI-V command that is associated with that function.
