Re: Hamlib or RigCat and a Yaesu FT-757GX
Hi Harold

As the CAT on the 757 is unidirectional it will be impossible to display the radio's frequency on the waterfall as FLdigi will not receive that information from the 757. However you should be able to send frequency commands like the band / favourite frequency from fldigi via rigcat or hamlib, but then it would expect a handshake confirmation I guess, and that is the reason why there is not a rigcat FT757 xml file on hand for your radio. Whereas there is an Alpha FT857 Hamlib entry, but you won't be able to modify the hamlib entry yourself but it looks like Hamlib is your only option. The default CAT baud rate for the FT757 is shown as 4800 baud with 1 start bit, two stop bits, and 0 parity, and sent in a 5 bit string. I honestly don't see how you can make FLdigi read the radio's frequency if the radio does not impart that information. Strange I must admit I didn't know about the uni directional aspect of the 757 CAT, and I guess you find that aspect to be a pain even using other software which reads the radio like MixW or HRD DM780. I hope you find a solution, or peace with it :-). Best Regards, Dave G3VFP Harold wrote: This radio has the original CAT control which uses only one way |
Hamlib or RigCat and a Yaesu FT-757GX
This radio has the original CAT control which uses only one way
communications to the radio with no reply. Is anyone using hamlib in win-fldigi to control a Yaesu FT-757GX? When i try to use it I get a I/O error displayed under the waterfall and of course I then cannot view the rig display. I have a home built interface with which I can control the PTT and I can change the radio frequency using Commander or RigCat. I have also modified a rig.xml file to try and use RigCat to control the radio. My success has been to get the PTT to work and the frequency to change on the radio. The frequency above the waterfall will not change, the QSY function will not work and the frequency in the logging function will not follow. I cannot see what the interaction is between the rig.xml and the win-fldigi program is so I can make it work. The radio receives and sends psk-31 OK, but I would like to make it work better. Any suggestions? Harold |
Re : Problem
Hello Fred,
The Optocoupler I use was made by Dave, and the settings as you say are basically the same for Digipan, and PSK=PAL. I have no problem with either of those softwares, both work perfectly I'm interested to know a few things about fldigi. The first being, Should FLdigi, on being opened up from the shortcut on the desktop, immediatly accept signals on the waterfall, as happens with Digipan and PSK-PAL ? If it doesn't, should I copy and enter every setting which are shown in the web help pages, and having done this will the software then function as it should ? I'm not technical, most of the computer techno babble I don't understand. It would be helpful if simple instructions giving step by step instructions such as that produced by KK7UQ for Digipan were available, just to get it started. Kind regards, Mel G0GQK |
Re: new member signing in... with a problem !
Mel - thanks info. I suppose you verified the proper settings,
in "Configuration/Soundcard/Audio Devices" ? Which interface are you running? When running Digipan, you got certain soundcard settings which basically should not differ from those to be used by fldigi - so where is the little box which needs (un)checking)e.g. line-in, mike-in or else? But it doesn't harm your system to throw out all fldigi components and reinstall from fresh. Pse advise. 73 Fred DL6XAZ --- In win-fldigi@..., "Mel" <Gzerogqk@...> wrote: on the rig and the computer and checked out Digipan, all OK, next triedall the settings for VOL, up to 100% and all the other settings, stillnot a flicker on the screen so I'm going to un-install it and download it |
Re: new member signing in... with a problem !
Hello Fred,
At least I'm not alone ! Went into the shack this morning, switched on the rig and the computer and checked out Digipan, all OK, next tried PSK-PAL, that's OK as well. Here we go, lets try fldigi. Increased all the settings for VOL, up to 100% and all the other settings, still not a flicker on the screen so I'm going to un-install it and download it again. If it doesn't work this time then there must be a vital "something" missing. Back after tea ! Mel G0GQK |
Re: New member signing in
Hi Mel -
and if it were the case with the volume slider, rest assured: you are in very good company!!! Happened to me in the beginning as well but found it by chance very soon. Pse also check whether PTT works, and whether there is audio going into your transceiver. Pse advise in due course whether/how you sorted it out. Good luck. vy73 Fred DL6XAZ --- In win-fldigi@..., "Mel" <Gzerogqk@...> wrote: solve my little problem. Hello Dave and group members,
I've just been reading the mail and one message in particular may solve my little problem. I downloaded FLdigi a few days ago, examined it, pressed this and tried that but it appeared to be dead. I have XP, and have Digipan which works OK, and I have PSK-PAL which also works OK, but not even a flicker on the FLdigi waterfall. I was going to un-install tomorrow and make another copy but after reading Dave's comments on message 41 about the VOL settings being set at zero perhaps this is the reason why I have this problem. This is,of course, the first of my problems, and no doubt I shall be back soon with a few more ! Kind regards, Mel G0GQK |
Re: waterfall pallette files
Dave - thanks for the info. When I played around, I just got curious
by the .pal extension and thought just to try it - why I got to this result which pleased me. And why not keep something which has proven to be practical? No need to invent the wheel again and again. The present fldigi runs very smooth and absolutely stable on my W-XP setup, and once used to the buttons at different locations it takes the place of mixw more frequently. There is of course the one or other mode which I like to try or use, e.g. bpsk at speeds not incorporated or Amtor-FEC but it costs nothing to quit and change over. vy73 Fred DL6XAZ --- In win-fldigi@..., w1hkj <w1hkj@...> wrote: that Justthe waterfall pallette files of MixW also work under fldigi-win. gocopy them over into your .\fldigi.files subdirectory and off you if youin "Configuration". waterfall pallette files
Hi folks - for those of you having used MixW sofar, please note that
the waterfall pallette files of MixW also work under fldigi-win. Just copy them over into your .\fldigi.files subdirectory and off you go in "Configuration". This allows you to use the same colour setup if you want to (I do...). 73 Fred DL6XAZ |
RigCAT xml file for FT-2000
jvilardo2000
I just up loaded an xml file that will give you CAT control of the FT-
2000. I made some slight modifications to the FT-950 file to create the FT-2000 file. I have it working with my FT-2000D with no problems. You will need to edit the file for your COM port preference, the file as is has it set to COM3. Remember to set MENU items in the FT-2000: 027 to 4800, 028 to 100, 029 to on. |

Re: FT2000D rig.xml file
Hi Dave,
these news made my day as I was not successful in fiddling around with the xml file. Really annoying that Yaesu could not follow a coherent CAT system for their rigs. Never mind, you will solve my problems. Thanks in advance. vy73 Fred DL6XAZ --- In win-fldigi@..., w1hkj <w1hkj@...> wrote: ones for the Yaesu FT-450 and FT-2000 transceivers. |
FT2000D rig.xml file
jvilardo2000
Just installed FIDIGI on an xp machine but I am having a problem
getting CAT control to work. Has anyone had any sucess in writing a rig.xml file for the FT2000? I saw the format for writting one in the file sections of this reflector but thought I would ask if it allready exists before trying to write one. I am not a programer and it could be an overwhelming expierence for me. Joe K3JV |
logging
wb4mnk
I have just started with Win-Fldigi software and having a hard time
figuring out how to log my contacts. I have Wxlogbook downloaded but unable to figure out how to get this logbook to accept my qso information in Win-Fldigi when we click save in Win-Fldigi. My main goal is to get all of my qso information from Win-Fldigi to my main logger which is DXKeeper. Maybe I do not even need to use Wxlogbook but maybe there is a way to use a DDE for direct transfer from Win-Fldigi to DXKeeper ? Any help will be appreciated. 73, Art WB4MNK |

Forgive me if I missed anything, and am going over stuff of which you are already aware. Using Rigcat should work fine you take the ts850.xml file, edit it, and save it in your fldigi.files folder (directory) as rig.xml. When using that TS850 or rig.xml file you can opt for rts/cts handshaking, but if you do you can't then select rts for ptt as well. If your TS850 cat plug has pins 4&5 handshaking linked together then you don't need to select it as true in the rig.xml file, and can specify rts for ptt. There is no reason why the current open release should not recognise your rig.xml file though. If the com port syntax is changed to com6 instead of the default Linux format, and the baud rate / stop bits match, then probably the only thing which would stop the cat functioning is the handshaking. Generically a lot of users of the Kenwoods link pins 4 and 5 together on the 6 pin cat plug to give permanent hard wire handshaking anyhow. Well, that's my two penneth anyhow Steve :-). I hope it helps. Regards, Dave G3VFP --- In win-fldigi@..., "Steve Foster" <shfoster@...> wrote:

850 cat
Steve Foster
Thanks for the reply.
Hp 2.4 mhz machine with 1 meg ram. Edgeport to convert serial to usb, ex sp3. G3??? cable from 13 pin port on 850 to edgeport for cat, rigblaster for audio. I have tried the hamlib selection, and it displays the 850, I change port and data rate, initialize, and still no frequency display. The audio portion works fine. If I select the rig cat, and edit the 850 html file that is available, It only shows the comment to select an html file, it does not open a file. I'll wait and see. Thanks again. Steve |
