Re: Fouled up Fldigi - Flamp communication under Windows

I had similar problems and reverted to FLAMP 2.2.11.

Fldigi itself will key the radio, and Flmsg will also key the radio through Fldigi.? They are both working.? It's just Flamp that won't, leading me to think I somehow screwed up the xmlrpc (?) communication between Flamp and Fldigi.

I've tried uninstalling all three apps, deleting the fldigi.files and NBEMS.files configuration directories, and reinstalling the current versions and the problem persists.? Flamp says "Connected" but no communication is passing between Fldigi and Flamp.

I don't know anything about xmlrpc but my guess is that there is some corrupt data in the pipe between Fldigi and Flamp that is preventing communication and I'm hoping one of the experts can tell me what to do next or what experiment would illuminate the problem.

Where is URL for English language Fldigi?

The only version I can find seems to be Italian.? Thanks in advance for your help.

These URL's take me to the British Sundial Society website.? I tried it from two different browsers.? What's going on?

Re: help with signal ID (pic and audio included)

Jeff and All,

Please find attached the solved puzzle: all of you in the group who had suggested it was FT8 after all were perfectly right!

In the archive, you'll find a brief 'Analysis Report' and the results, along with a couple of accompanying files explaining the signal and how it was finally decoded.

Lesson Learned: Jeff did the exact right thing: reporting it very specifically and joining a meaningful audio snippet ;-)

Thanks and 73's

The consensus from more-knowledgable-than-me hams here and elsewhere is that this is FT8, and that if we could compress it down to the FT8 bandwidth, it would properly decode. I did cycle through a bunch of modes in FLDIGI and got no decodes at all. :-)

QRZ Image lookup in N3FJP checks each partial entry

I am using N3FJP ACLog 7.0.10 with Fldigi 4.2.05 with the QRZ open image & bio page on call tab checked yes.
?
When I manually type a call sign in fldigi, the qrz image opens up for each partial entry.
?
Example.? ?call K1ACL
I get an image for K1A, K1AC & K1ACL.
The comment field has three addresses.
Is there a way to slow down the lookup so it doesn't try until the entire call sign has been typed into the Fldigi "Call" field?
?
I asked this question in the N3FJP group and Scott's reply was: ?It sounds like FLDigi is calling the lookup with each keystroke via the connected API.? That's a question for the FLDigi folks, as that is initiated by their program.
?
Has anyone had this issue and resolved it?
?
Thanks in advance for your input

Anyone try Olivia for decoding?

Lost receive pane

Hello I started Fldigi 4.2.05 on my Win10 machine and experienced several crashes when I would try and Maximize the screen. I deleted and reloaded Fldigi several times and finally stable. What is happening now after Fldigi opens, maximize the screen but I do not see the tan colored receive pane. If I place curser under macros and drag down I get another blue transmit and another signal browser. (see 2nd Screenshot)
?
I have had no Fldigi problems with this laptop for years until the other day. I checked Windows Defender, CCleaner and I have no other virus programs installed. I have changed fldigi.pref to fldigi1.prep to see if I get a change. I just closed Fldigi and opened not using shortcut on desktop I went direct to .exe and Fldigi crashed. (1st screenshot).

I am a little lost for ideas, thank you.

Macro lag before sending CW

I'm using WinKeyer along with FLDigi, and there seems like a long lag, (at least in the context of contesting), between when I execute the macro and when the message actually starts transmitting.
?
First, if that's not fixable, how do you answer CQ's quickly during a contest? I could use my key, but I'm told most people use some sort of software.
?
If that delay is adjustable, how do I do it. I looked at "Edge timing" and "Pre-keydown timing" which are set at 3ms and 4ms respectively. Neither of those seemed to make a difference. Yes, I clicked "save".

Sending CW with fldidi using dxlabs_fldidi_gateway (FT-710)

I am still having trouble sending CW with fldigi. It turns out that dxlab winwarbler works just fine for CW and sometimes fldigi works right after using winwarbler. Powering down the transceiver and then running winwarbler appears to always work. I suspect that there is some setting that I am missing. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.?
?
Thanks in advance

Re: Xiegu G-90 + FLDigi; waterfall issues

Andrew, thanks for your input. I am still going to give the D-U and D-L approach a try. Nothing to lose.

Sorry I missed that you were mainly operating CW, decoding in fldigi.
So I have done lots of CW decoding in SSB in the -D mode on G-90, but have not done transmission so I cannot be sure the signal out is correct in that mode but I do expect so.

I was hesitant to use the dash U or dash L because many folks seem adamant about using the CW mode. Maybe since I'm using WinKeyer for the code generation, it isn't as big a deal as I?assumed.

I'll give it a try and report my results.

Jeff: if it returns, and if you have not already tried this, you may wish to switch your receiver from USB to LSB to see if that makes any difference.

I am wondering if that signal originates from someone who is just learning about digital modes and has his system mis-configured.

Anyway, what you have found is very interesting to some of us.

Please continue to report anything of interest.

Hi all,
?
I'm seeing and hearing this on 21070 dial (21071.5 wf) on 24 August 2024 at 1540 UTC (1040 AM Texas time). I'm cycling through the various modes but nothing is decoding. It transmits on :00 and :30, a 12 second transmission. No one is replying, it sounds like the same thing being sent each time. Running through the Signal Wiki to see if I can find a match. It kind of sounds like MFSk32, but it's only printing jibberish. Still going at 1558 UTC. Thanks for any help!

Re: help with signal ID (pic and audio included)

Totally agree about the tones and the timing. I'm definitely not an expert, but that signal looks and sounds nothing like FT8. If it's a harmonic (as has been suggested), wouldn't it at least have to sound like the original signal? I opened up WSJT-X but it's not decoding there at all. Like I say, I'm not an expert, but that signal looks and sounds nothing like FT8.

Re: help with signal ID (pic and audio included)

Mike Black

That looks like FT8.? You can see the 8 tones and timing also matches FT8.

But the 500Hz width is really strange....
