I don't know if this is the desired behavior, it is just an observation. Tested on both windows and linux mint 21.1
I noticed that the "Checking for updates..." text at the bottom of Fldigi window remains even after closing the popup.
If you are in PSK mode, it disappear after clicking on the waterfall.
Tried with CW, RTTY and Olivia as the selected mode. In that case it does not disappear even if you click on the waterfall.
