JerryM: It was me that wrote that. You miss quoted. No biggy. The point is that Allan agrees. And all I'm trying to get out here is: That when you use 18 awg for 3' or less feeder. You are simply overkill. That is not wrong. And if telephone wire is now 24 awg, so what. So for most anyone beginning in HO. If they wish to use telephone wire/24 awg and the feeder is less than 3', then they are OK.
I still contend that feeders longer than 3' must be extremely rare. I suspect that if the bus is mounted at the front of the layout, and the layout is 3' deep, then the feeder may be that long. And in that case, 18 awg would be recommended.
