File - RMS Analyzer Operation

RMS Analyzer Operation

It has been made apparent to me that some of Analyzer¡¯s clients are running it intermittently. Please understand that Analyzer has been designed to run 24/7. I run the CPU Meter in the Gadget Gallery here. It continuously shows the percentage of CPU power being used. Generally on my Win 7 Server it shows around 2% with RMS Relay, Trimode, Winmor TNC and Analyzer all operational. This is the value shown whether Analyzer is running or not. So leaving it running 24/7 does not contribute to the CPU load appreciably. I made the Analyzer size select-able to allow it to be displayed continuously if desired. On my 1280x1024 resolution screen I have all four displays showing concurrently, including all four panels of Analyzer. I enjoy seeing it update after a connection completes.

File - Caution

Caution

One of our sysop brethren had a problem with his installation of RMS Analyzer which we traced down to the implementation of Malwarebytes on his Server computer. It was barfing on the chp.exe program that I have included in the later installers. This program minimizes the duration of the flashing black boxes associated with the several bat file calls. We were able to place that program on the exception list so it would not be removed. However, at least one other file was being prohibited ¨C the first line in the RestartB.bat file. This prohibited the Analyzer program from stopping on the midnight rollover although the restart second line was working OK. Consequently, multiple instances of Analyzer were building up on his screen.
The solution has been to remove the Malwarebyte program entirely and rely totally on Microsoft Security Essentials or Defender.

De DoC, W1EO

FAREWELL

With the last day of operation on the horizon, I wanted to take the opportunity to express my thanks to those fellow sysops, users, and friends, that took a moment of their time, to remind me why a ham radio operator invests resources for the benefit of others.

I have received a fair number of messages of gratitude, kind words, and wishes for the future, and even some reminders of a particular deed or above average service they received from or via this station.? In the humdrum of life, we tend to forget the value of the simple and sincere expressions that can fuel an organization, network, or system.

It has been my pleasure to serve and to provide the means to support your needs.

Smooth sailing, fair winds, open roads, bright skies, safe home.?
God Bless and 73

On the bright side, there have been some exceptional rewards of lasting friendships, messages of appreciation, and self satisfaction of having served the radio amateur community that has been a huge part of my life for four decades.? One of the most rewarding has been in supporting the development of the HF Analyzer program, conceived by DoC (Dave) Willard - W1EO for the benefit of global network sysops.

Being an RMS sysop has been a time of learning, growth, expansion of skills, and challenging times with rewards equal to what has been required - sometimes demanded - of the role.? My sincere thanks to all of those fellow sysops that encouraged and guided us through the early years, and to the many sailors on the Atlantic, Pacific, Caribbean, Great Lakes, and interconnecting waterways, as well as the back country campers, RVers, and home stations that have found the Server useful.? It has been an honest to goodness thrill to see your contacts, connections and messages make their way back and forth through the server at VA3LKI.? Making this decision has been a real struggle, knowing what the service means to you folks during the gray and dark hours.

"To everything, there is a season."? We must move on, and so the RMS Server will be taken out of service at the end of this month - 2359 UTC March 31, 2016.

Re: Analyzer

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Versions can run in parallel as long as they are in separate folders.
As I remember ur configuration, I got the newest version to run in a new folder while the older one u were running crashed. I suspect u have the older one called out in the startup directory. So although the newer one runs, when u reboot, it calls the older one and that crashes.
So change the Analyzer that is in the startup directory to the newer version in the new directory and I bet it will comeup and run when u reboot.

I have not up dated to the latest version as the one I downloaded was working until the VA7TSA Winlink Gateway reboots. The analyzer starts and crashes. I tried finding error log but have not seen it in the system. I have to do this by remote.

Should I download latest and uninstall present version?

Good Afternoon

I have a question regrading the re booting of the PC. I have RMS
Packet and RMS Relay in my start up menu. Should I add RMS Analyzer to
the startup or does it called from Trimode?

I have not seen any info in the RMS analyzer PDF file so far.
