Kit Building Links
At the meeting Tuesday night, we discussed kit building. The event committee is going to schedule a day in the near future that we can get together and have fun building. Below are links to the pages we discussed.... I'm sure there are many more. If you want to participate, you purchase the kit and bring it with you. Net Tonight!!!!
Hey... I was about to forget that we're supposed to have a net on Thursday nights now!! The majority of the weather should be thru the area by 7pm, so I'll run net control since I didn't get any volunteers. If you can make it, please do! Stay safe. Eric KD0CEN

Severe Weather TODAY
Heads-up: The sunny skies are nice but deceptive today. That extra sunshine is warming our area ahead of the weather rolling in and potentially increasing instability. Supercell development is increasing in likelihood along with hail, wind, and tornadoes. We will probably see a Tornado Watch issued soon.

Ground Rods

I'm needing aquire and drive in some ground rods. Two questions for the group: - Where's the best place to purchase ground rods for a decent price? - Any suggestions on best ways to sink ground rods in Ozark "soil"? Thanks for any suggestions, JJ

Missouri QSO Party
Forwarding an email I received. Sounds like fun. What do you think? Eric Hello! I'm Kyle AA0Z and I'm helping coordinate some media for the Missouri QSO Party. If your club has a mailing list, could you send this communication out to your membership? We are trying to get as many people interested in participating in this year's MOQP event as possible. Thanks! 73. **** The Missouri QSO party contest is 5 weeks away, April 6th and 7th and we want you to participate. The MOQSO Party is a 2 day event, but you don't need to operate both days. The goal this year is to put every county on the air and we need your help! The MOQSO Party is a great way to dip your toe into contesting. It's laid back, slow paced and you pick the speed you want to participate in. If you are new to contesting, this contest is for you! The QSO party has 1x1 calls we are trying to fill. If you are interested in working both days and want to make a lot of QSO's, consider signing up for a 1x1 callsign for the weekend. See the rules below for the 1x1 callsign certificate awards. Kit Building
Sierena mentioned kit building at the meeting Tuesday night as something the event committee thought we might want to do. JJ showed me a few examples of kits after the meeting and I wish I¡¯d have taken the time to discuss it. I guess my mind had already moved on to whatever was next. My apologies. Below are a few links to various kits we might want to build as a group activity. None of them look overly complicated or expensive from what I¡¯ve seen. You¡¯d get some practice soldering and have something useful when you are done. One that might be of specific interest as the weather warms back up and we plan to get back into fox hunting is the RF Attenuator. They have an 11dB and 41db for $15 and $25 respectively. Anyway, I¡¯ll paste a few links below. Reply and let us know what you think. This would most likely be something we¡¯d do on a Saturday maybe¡ just get together sometime other than a monthly meeting and build toys! I tried to determine how they do shipping. 1 item was 4 or 5 bucks shipping, and 15 was around $12¡. So we might be better to get a group order together and save a little on shipping. ARES Net Schedule
At the ARES meeting Tuesday night, we decided to make the regular Tuesday night net an ARES net. The purpose is allow operators practice as net controllers which will be a great benefit during severe weather or other emergency situations. Being able to communicate effectively, control the situation, and accurately log information is a skill that takes practice, and we want everyone interested to have that opportunity. Practice makes better! Below is our net control schedule for the next couple months. Chris has developed a script, and emailed it out to those who were in attendance earlier this evening. If you're interested in participating in ARES as we get things up to speed, please make plans to attend our next meeting. Currently, ARES meetings will be the 4th Tuesday of the month, and our regular club meeting will remain the 2nd Tuesday of the month, both at 6pm at the EOC. Nets will be on the other Tuesdays... 1st, 3rd and 5th (in those months) at 7pm. There will also be a simplex net on the 3rd Tuesday at 7:30. If things change, we'll be sure to inform everyone. As I said at the meeting Tuesday, this is pretty new for most of us involved and going to take some time to get off the ground. Please be patient as we all learn together. We may not get it all right the first try, but with a group of willing participants, we will get there. Ham Shack Hotline
I¡¯ve thought about doing this several times but never have¡. Had a couple of fiends talk me into it yesterday, so I purchased my phone this morning. Thought I¡¯d share the info. If you¡¯re a nerd like me, you might enjoy it. We¡¯re planning on having a net of sorts on it just to troubleshoot and discuss what we¡¯re currently working on.
