Re: Confused About Recent email

Through all that confusion, you got it right!

-Within Yahoogroups, when you Reply, you will reply to the whole list. If you want to reply to the individual sender, Forward the message.

-The 5th WAS our last dance at Phillips, but not the last dance of the season.

-The last dance of the season will be at Channing-Murray on Dec. 19. And on that date:
7:30 - Newcomer workshop with Scott Meyer
8:00 - Dance with Banjulele and R. Reigel-Lamborghini

See you there!

The email to me on Fri Dec 5 was from Daniel Lewart but when I hit reply it
goes to ucd contra. Ignoring most of the email which listed a number of
dates, I was interested in the information about Dec 19.

First, in the email it said that Dec 5 would be the last date at Phillips.

However, later it said:
: * Fri Dec 19 7:30pm New dancer orientation led by Scott Meyer @ Phillips
* Fri Dec 19 8-11pm BANJULELE w/RUTH RIEGEL-LAMBORGHINI @ Channing-Murray

I assume the new dancer orientation at Phillips then the dance at
Channing-Murray is incorrect and it is all at CM if the earlier statement is
correct.

Folks,
Unfortunately this missed the flyer...
However, in future e-publicity:
RON BUCHANAN(Pittsburgh) is a big-deal headlinerand should be listed first (and in caps thruout).
Swing Workshop w/ Ron Buchanan and Lisa Ornstein is (maybe) another draw and should definitely be listed (if not in caps).

Re: Fw: Re: [ucd_board] May-August schedule P S

Sue Hanson

There will be a D-Day hangar dance fundrasier at Chanute on June 6. This will be a 40's ballroom dance with the Sande Hackel Orchestra (a great 40s bandrecommended by Mark and Diana Rich) but open to the community so not a formal ballroom dance such as you'd attend at the Regent.

I don't know if two big dances the same weekend would be too much for people or if a contra and 40s dance would be different enough that it would not matter. Would June 12 work for an Anderson barn dance? I also wondered about a weekend in May so we could do the May Day dance idea.

I was just informed that we need to turn in the Summer (May-August)
schedule by
tomorrow. Not a lot of lead time there, though not as bad as it sounds. I
will
submit the following list tomorrow as a draft. We can amend it at our next
meeting, and can make minor changes for another few weeks.

May 1 -- Kalyx Center (On our Spring Schedule, but UPD's summer)
May 15
May 30 (5th Saturday, but Memorial Day weekend so probably drop)
June 5 -- Anderson's?
June 19
July 3
July 17
August 1 (5th Saturday)
August 7
August 21 --UCD goes to Sugar Hill

There seem to be fewer obvious conflicts than last summer. What are the
unobvious ones?

Here's the description that goes with. Certainly room for improvement:

Evenings of American Country Dance
With The Urbana Country Dancers
These American contra, square, and round dances have live, upbeat,
stringband
music at every meeting. Dancers of every age and ability are welcome.
Partners,
costumes and experience are not necessary we'll show you how! Wear
cool,
comfortable clothes; a second clean pair of soft-soled shoes for dancing
will
help protect the Phillips Recreation Center wood floor. A donation of $5
per
person is requested, $4 for students. Contact the Country Dancers'
Hotline
at
359-8225 or check out for more
information
about dances, pre-dance orientations, workshops, musician jams, potlucks,
other
special events, and venue changes.

the
price line could be dropped]

It was WONDERFUL -- beautiful people, beautiful family, beautiful music. You
really missed a great evening. No, haven't made any of the Sacred Harp
sings. Maybe the next one in CU. Y're a good daughter -- assisted living
isn't supposed to be such hard work for the family. Maybe it's just the
adjustment period and that will subside. Stay warm, come dancing sometime, Happy

Hi Jenifer,

I've been very rude and not sent you a thanks for the shape note singing
flyer you mailed me. Have you been able to go to any?

I'm still driving down to Evansville IN about every 3rd weekend to take
care of things for my folks. Even in their assisted living arrangement, there
are a lot of details to take care of so they don't have to worry about
shopping for food or over-the-counter meds or clothes.

Sorry I missed your party yesterday. I'm sure it was more fun than raking
leaves!

take care,
Kathleen
