Re: Fw: Re: [ucd_board] May-August schedule P S
Sue Hanson
There will be a D-Day hangar dance fundrasier at Chanute on June 6. This will be a 40's ballroom dance with the Sande Hackel Orchestra (a great 40s bandrecommended by Mark and Diana Rich) but open to the community so not a formal ballroom dance such as you'd attend at the Regent.

I don't know if two big dances the same weekend would be too much for people or if a contra and 40s dance would be different enough that it would not matter. Would June 12 work for an Anderson barn dance? I also wondered about a weekend in May so we could do the May Day dance idea. Sue --- On Fri, 12/5/08, Tom Anderson <thandthand@...> wrote:

dancing this Friday
The contra dance this coming Friday, December 5, will feature
calling by Bill Sudkamp from Chicago and the music of Too Old To Be Controlled from the Bloomington-Normal area. The dance will be at the Phillips Center and will start at 8 p.m. as usual. Scott Meyer will be leading a brief introductory session starting at 7:30, so if you are new to contra dance or have some friends who might like to give it a try come early to get some pointers on contra dance. Then stay for a great evening of old-time music and fun contras and squares. As always any snacks brought to share at the break will be greatly appreciated. Have fun in the snow and I'll see you on Friday. Jonathan |
