The band will be the Cosmic Otters from Chicago. The dance will be held a the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts and starts at 7 p.m. Watch for more info later. Then on Sunday, June 4 there will be a special contra dance at Channing-Murray in Urbana. This will be part of the Center For the Arts (C4A) Fiddle Weekend in Urbana. The dance will be from 3 to 5 in the afternoon. Kristi Emilsson will be calling and the band will be Patt and Possum plus members of the weekend faculty and fiddle orchestra. Masks will be required while dancing, but proof of vaccination is not. I hope everyone will come out and join us for some fun music and dance. Jonathan |

Scottish Country Dance arranged for May
Hi All,
Due to the lack of workable weekend dates in May, we will have our Scottish Country Dance for that month on a Tuesday instead of a Sunday. Many thanks to the Illini Folk Dancers for hosting us. (Note we still have a dance Sunday, April 30 at MUMC.) Date: Tuesday, May 23 Time: 7:30 - 9:30 PM Location: Channing Murray Foundation, 1209 W. Oregon St., Urbana, IL Cost: $5/person I know many from BN won't be able to come due to work schedules and such, but hopefully we will still get a nice crowd and perhaps even a few new dancers. I should have included that we are still observing COVID precautions and requiring people to be vaccinated and wear masks at the dance. Sorry for the oversight.

Free contra dance this Friday
#Dance
To celebrate his 60th birthday, which happened during our COVID hiatus, Dan Lewart will be sponsoring the dance this Friday, March 24 at Channing-Murray as his Post Factum 60th Birthday Dance. Admission will be FREE. The band will be Brenda and Friends from C-U and the caller will be Gail Hintze from Chillicothe.
In addition some folks from a group called Urbanalogue will be taking video during the dance to be shown at a later time. This may help spread the word about contra dance and promote our group. Just a heads up that you might be recorded during the dance. Of course, we'll all be wearing masks so it will be anonymous to a certain degree. ;-) Bring your mask and water bottle and snacks to share at the break. I hope everyone will come to enjoy some great music and dancing at a FREE contra dance and wish Dan a belated happy birthday. Jonathan |
