Thanks to making my birthday dance a success!
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThanks to all those who came to and help set-up my birthday dance on Friday Oct 27. I loved that kitty-cat cake made by Kristi Emilsson (photo in Facebook link). I think everyone dreaded slicing into that cake, it was so cute! ?Also thanks to those who brought other treats, gave me cards, and made comments in my guest book. ? Also thanks to Gail Hintze for calling, the Young and Fretless for playing, and Miriam Larson for doing sound. ? I have also posted photographs of the "panels" I made from my t-shirt graphics on the Urbana Country Dancers Facebook page (click link below).? I did not get photos of the dance, the people, and their costumes. If any of you have photos/videos from this dance, feel free to post them on the Facebook page or send them to me to post. ? ? dancing at Folk & Roots
#Dance
There are 2 opportunities to enjoy some contra dancing this coming weekend. As part of the Folk & Roots Festival in Urbana there will be a contra dance on Friday, October 13 from 7:30 to 9:30 at the Independent Media Center. The band will be Spencer and Rains. The caller will be Meg Dedolph from Chicago. There will be a short introduction to contra dance at 7 p.m. and then the dance will start at 7:30. I don't see any mention of a COVID policy on the Folk & Roots website, so I assume that masks will be optional.
To continue the fun the Urbana Country Dancers will be holding an Afterglow Dance on Sunday, October 15 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Channing-Murray Foundation. Once again Meg Dedolph will be calling and Matt Turino and Miriam Larson will be playing. Masks and vaccination will be required for this dance. For more information on the Folk & Roots Festival and the full schedule of music, dance and other activities see the website. Jonathan |

contra dance this Friday
Believe it or not Friday will be the first of September. The summer is over and the fall is here. There will be a contra dance at the Channing-Murray Foundation on Friday. The band will be Meadowhawk with Amanda Ramey, Claire Johnson & Matt Turino. The caller will be Miriam Larson.
This will be a welcome back dance for U of I students and there has been publicity sent out to the graduate students organization. So we hope there will be new people attending. We hope that everyone will make them welcome and encourage them to return to more dances in the future. To streamline things masks are required for this dance, but vaccinations won't be checked at the door. Bring your mask, water bottle and snacks to share at the break. Jonathan |
