List Etiquette
We have several hundred subscribers on this list, so when you are thinking of posting a message to the list make sure it is something that is suitable for all audiences and of interest to all, or at least most, of the people on the list.? Since this is a contra dance group almost anything to do with contra dance should be fine.? Discussions of events involving dance and music and other community activities may also be on-topic.? There are certainly other things that will be of interest to the majority of the people on the list, but give it some thought before you hit send.? Remember that replies go to the whole list, so if you want to reply to just one person edit the To: address in your email program.
If you signed up for the email list at one of our dances your subscription will be set by default to Special Notices Only.? That means you will only get announcements of upcoming dances and other events.? Birthday Cake
Hi UCD Board, I'm looking forward to calling tonight's dance, but I wanted to ask a question in advance. Tomorrow is my birthday, and I would like to bring a birthday cake tonight to celebrate. Will there be paper plates, napkins, and table service available? I don't want to bring a cake along and then have no way of serving and eating it! See you this evening, Scott |

sign up list for volunteers to help make our contra dances happen
We always need people to help out before, during and after the contra dances. So we need volunteers to step up to keep things going. Some jobs only take a few minutes, but are none-the-less important. We have created a sign up page for people indicate what they are able to help with for our dances this summer. Take a look and see if you can help out at some of the upcoming dances. We'll send additional reminders prior to dances in the future.

Thu Apr 11 5:30¨C7:30p Schottische class w/Jeanette @ Allerton Music Barn, Monticello!!
Urbana Country Dancers, will present a Schottische class this week:
Jeanette's description is below. Hoping you can join us! Schottische is the best couple dance ever invented for expressing mental flexibility and creativity. Its basic footwork creates a metronome that is satisfying with no embellishments, requires no turning when dancers want a break after a dizzying waltz, and has multiple places for a lot of turns for those who like spinning. This class will cover its unique basic steps, and go over the simple vocabulary that can be combined into a wide variety of dance moves. To dance a schottische is to be a genius on the dance floor! |
